In this non-numerical, simple lab experiment, we demonstrate step-by-step procedures to create a diagram of a hanging mass supported by two separated strings. This method is applicable for any set of values, making it a versatile approach to understanding equilibrium.
In this video, we use a Newton scale to measure the tension on each string, labeled T1 and T2. To find each tension vector component, we determine the angles using basic trigonometric functions applicable to right triangles.
Finally, we calculate the weight of the hanging object by applying Newton's first law of equilibrium: the sum of forces acting upward is equal to the sum of forces acting downward. With this principle and the weight-mass relationship, we determine the mass of the object and compare it with the actual value of the hanging mass.
Join us in this straightforward yet insightful experiment, perfect for students and enthusiasts alike. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more educational content!
