Apologies to our friends from Switzerland. We only know things about this whisky and your cheese ♥...and even then we don't know anything.

The one to look out for is the barrel proof, single barrel, “Unchained” version of this malt. It’s called “Säntis Malt Dreifaltigkeit Unchained”. It’s relatively easy to find in Switzerland and Germany. I once got lucky and found the Unchained version priced wrongly as the standard version in some German big box liquor store. :-) BTW Dreifaltigkeit means Trinity

Wow, this at cask strength has to be wild! Checking flights now... ✈️

Hi guys, I guess you've read up on this by now but there is no single one "Swiss" language. In Switzerland, depending on the region, they speak their own varieties of French, German, Italian, and a romance fringe language called Raetoromanian. So no, you're not "dumb" for not knowing this, just slightly uninformed. But being American, we don't hold it against you 😜 BTW "Dreifaltigkeit" (pronounced approx. like "dry fall tick kite") is German for "trinity". Do keep 'em coming, you're doing a wonderful job 👍Finding a woman who's both gorgeous and into Whisk(e)y must be like Christmas, Easter, and inheriting a chocolate factory all rolled into one. Greetings from Germany 🥂

I am happy to help: There are four (!) national languages spoken in Switzerland: "Swiss German" (spoken by 62% of the Swiss population), which, however, differs greatly from German; French (23%); Italian (8%); and "Romansh", which is a Rhaeto-Romanic language derived from Latin (0.5%). In addition, the majority (!) of Swiss people are multilingual, and English and Portuguese are the most common foreign languages in Switzerland.

Appreciate the review. Your notes kind of remind me of the new Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11yr Caribbean Rum Cask. The sweet and the smoke balance each other

I've actually got that one on our to-do list...looking forward to it!

Tried a few of these. You should research the Säntis whisky trail, there are hikes through the Säntis mountain and surrounding mountains where they have dislfferent single casks maturing in restaurants and hotels in the mountains. The Port one in a Säntis mountain restaurant is great

A brief explanation for the question about the spelling because I had the same question. "To make a long explanation short, whiskey (with an ‘e’) refers to grain spirits distilled in Ireland and the United States. Whisky (with no ‘e’) refers to Scottish, Canadian, or Japanese grain spirits." It also has to do with the distilling process used by each location.
@b1gsteve2512 ай бұрын
Maker’s Mark is on of several U.S. distilleries that spell it as “whisky”.

Sad for you you can’t find it in the US… because in Switzerland you can find it at the grocery store without problem 😅. And don’t worry for the mistakes you made for the Swiss language that doesn’t exist… at least you didn’t say we speak Swedish 😂

I really like the content that you guys are putting out so keep up the great work. I have family that lives in Switzerland and they will be traveling to the states in July. I can reach out to them to see if they can track down a few bottles of this if you want me to. Just let me know.
@otbwhiskey2 ай бұрын
Oh wow! 😮 Absolutely would love to take you up on that so long as it doesn't add any extra stress to their travels.

found this on the cask cartel website...seems like it ships to my state (not sure if your state allows)...didn't complete checkout, but looks doable.

Yes! They seem to offer a variety of them but those prices are yikes...At 3x the price you might be better off planning a trip straight to the distillery!

Great review. Most of the Swiss population speak German. There is also a French speaking part of Switzerland. Is Santis Malt better than Black Butt Whiskey? 😝😂🥃
@kalynhatz2 ай бұрын
Yes. But… I did really enjoy black butte whiskey *and* it’s available most places. So i feel like it does get extra points for that.

There's no Swiss language in the same way there's no Belgian language. Switzerland has four regions delineated mostly by the languages spoken there: German, French, Italian and Romansh, an ancient Romance language.
