Authoritative ,authentic and astute. Pedagogy is on the money. I never words my mix. Let me point out that this little statement is no attempt at inversion or observance of proper English usage, but merely my own little quirky expression. спасибо.

Great video! Thank you! When it comes to practice, you can also find exercises in Advanced Grammar in Use by Martin Hewings. There are two units dedicated to inversion (99,100) and, in addition, inversion is also mentioned in units related to conditionals. What's more, many exercises are available in Improve your Skills for Advanced: Use of English. This book is dedicated for students who are preparing to take the CAE exam.

Thank you for your video Paul. I am currently teaching inversion to a group of adult learners here in Chile. I don´t get the opportunity to do this very often, as most learners have problems learning basic word order and I feel that they need to master this first. Otherwise they will just continue using Spanish word order when they are writing in English.

With regards to inversion, the adverb, sometimes, is interesting. Consider: 1) Sometimes, I used to see her in town (impossible to invert). 2) Sometimes would I see her in her in town (same meaning but inversion is optional).

Thanks for a great explanation! Could you possibly explain why don't we use past perfect of the verb "to mean" in the sentence: "Had I understood what you meant... " and present perfect of the verb "to fail" in: "The test was so difficult, that I think I failed". I'm preparing alone, so your recommendations will be of great value!
