This episode is very interesting opened lot of secret information unavailable to public.The entire cabinet was spineless at least they should have followed example of jp and gone to jail.This also showed weakness of Indian constitution as the checks and balances not observed,The clear domination of extra constitutional authority by sanjay gandhi is unacceptable and cabinet should have revolted enmass and resigned.

The decision in case by Raj Narain against Indira for election malpractices barring her from contesting election for 6 years was THE REASON for imposition of emergency. We should salute Jagmohanlal Sinha ji for upholding judicial independence because SC crawled before Indira n he didn't give in to the temptation.

Really it is almost Miracle that even after imposing Internal emergency, Indira Gandhi successful to restart the democratic procedures as it is because unfortunately after imposing Internal emergency, Indian Constitution is too much weak to restart the tradition of democracy once again. We normally think it is Prime Ministers who are the main drivers driving the car, but it is actually the advisers who are the main guys. Indira Gandhi's tenure can be divided into 3 parts, one up to 1971, emergency and then the 1980's. The success and failures are all dependent on the advisers advising Ministers.

The most important lesson was judiciary and judicial system was subjugated as Indira Gandhi refused to follow fundamental rights in constitution and allowed sanjay gandhi to be power center.
