In 1996, Atal Bihar Vajpayee sworn-in as Prime Minister of India for first time. With 161 seats BJP formed the government.
President Shankar Dayal Sharma called BJP to prove the majority in the Parliament.
Left parties opposed the decision of the President for calling them to form government.
It was almost impossible for the BJP to get the magic number of 272 in Lok Sabha.
It was first time when Lok Sabha session was on-aired live on televisions.
Vajpayee resigned from his Prime Ministership just before the confidence motion in the Parliament.

ठन गई! मौत से ठन गई! जूझने का मेरा इरादा न था, मोड़ पर मिलेंगे इसका वादा न था, रास्ता रोक कर वह खड़ी हो गई, यों लगा ज़िन्दगी से बड़ी हो गई। मौत की उमर क्या है? दो पल भी नहीं, ज़िन्दगी सिलसिला, आज कल की नहीं। मैं जी भर जिया, मैं मन से मरूँ, लौटकर आऊँगा, कूच से क्यों डरूँ? तू दबे पाँव, चोरी-छिपे से न आ, सामने वार कर फिर मुझे आज़मा। मौत से बेख़बर, ज़िन्दगी का सफ़र, शाम हर सुरमई, रात बंसी का स्वर। बात ऐसी नहीं कि कोई ग़म ही नहीं, दर्द अपने-पराए कुछ कम भी नहीं। प्यार इतना परायों से मुझको मिला, न अपनों से बाक़ी हैं कोई गिला। हर चुनौती से दो हाथ मैंने किये, आंधियों में जलाए हैं बुझते दिए। आज झकझोरता तेज़ तूफ़ान है, नाव भँवरों की बाँहों में मेहमान है। पार पाने का क़ायम मगर हौसला, देख तेवर तूफ़ाँ का, तेवरी तन गई। मौत से ठन गई। #अटलबिहारी_वाजपेयी_शतायु_हों !

@@mrprathap6738 Ever heard of Golden Quadrilateral??? Well see Atal ji was definitely one of the best PM like Shashtri Ji. Both fought wars both won and both had peace in their terms both were honestly secular and both treated all people equally. Modi did very good job in the start but then blunders after blunders. Demonetization helped in containing terror but Textile industry fell , Poor fell all the lower middle class Poverty etc rose. Prices went up and our Rupee fell drastically. Under Modi 2.0 we have had 2 major Protests Caa and Nrc, Farmer protests. And a full fledge Riots in Delhi. Yes India became dominant in World politics but internally we are having soo many problems and todays media never portraits it??? Oil prices Rupee , inflation and what not. Do you know what is happening in Assam after NRC? Do you know our Dear PM called protestors "Parasites?" Dude Protesting is a democratic right , protesting made India independent with a bit of violence by INA. Moreover India is so internally divided on the basis of religion thanks to many fanatic members of bjp like pragya Thakur are members of parliament she has a frickin terrorism case on her head!!! Also dude I thought Modi was tough on terror if he is then why didnt he address the Chinese colony in Arunachal pradesh?? He likes to brag what Army does right?? Why isn't he saying anything?

They did not show Atalji speaking his immortal lines in that Parliament speech during his 13 days government. Gujral ji seems to be a decent man caught between master manipulators. Also poor Jyoti Basu and his 'historic blunder'! And why was everything done so much in haste in the last segment? We didn't come to know who did not vote for NDA government during the Trust motion or why MSY didn't support Congress.
