In an interview with Pras from the group The Fugees, he talked with us about the group being sued by Enya for using her sample, the problems the Fugees began having during their time as a team, and Wyclef and Lauryn Hill's relationship issues.
At the beginning of the interview, Pras let us know that Enya demanded they take her copyright off their album, but they couldn't. Enya settled for 3 million dollars from the group, but Pras let us know it was his idea to use the sample. "She lived in Ireland, so I said, 'Yo, this album gonna blow up, but no one's gonna hear this shit in Ireland,' the sh*t went number one in Ireland."
Pras also let us know the group began to have problems towards the peak of their career. When asked about Wyclef and Lauryn Hill's relationship Pras was reluctant to talk. "Man, I was counting my money man, to be honest with you." We also asked Pras about the book Wyclef wrote saying that Lauryn Hill became pregnant. "My goal at that time was from this point till I die, I never have a need or a worry. So all this other sh*t is for the birds." After more questions, Pras began to let us know he tried to take the neutral route. "You gotta remember Wyclef is my boy at that time, were like brothers, and Lauryn is my girl because I went and got her from her mom's house when she was only 12, 13 years old. So this is my man, this is like my sister, they got whatever going at the time... So what side do you jump on..?" He also made sure to prepare in case the group went down due to the relationship between the two. Pras said that the group's break-up was inevitable, and he tried to keep the group together but that, "Ego is a motherf**ker."
Check out the clip above.

This is truly one of the best interviews Ive watched in a long time. Pras is honest, and watching his facial expressions and eyes during this...you can tell he took his position in the music world so seriously..and he really valued his opportunity. I think we can all learn from this...the ego can be a nasty little thing.

True. He never wanted to be THAT guy who looked back in hindsight and regretted shit. I think this is a sign of a humble upbringing which gave him a strong sense of self and resilience. He does not come from an emotionally charged perspective. Very concise, calculated, sober and present in the moment. He takes NOTHING for granted and is very conscientious. I am the total opposite, that's why I respect his approach on a business level.
@Faaade_

t3b0g0 I feel you!! I am half and half depending on the day lol but you are right when it comes to oppurtunity and business...you MUST stay level. I stay up on my paperwork..and always make sure to keep things short and direct.. humility is always a good trait. also shout out to you for having the "radiant child" poster in your avi..that documentary was good but kinda pissed me off lol

+EclecticFlavor. Ok here's my theory. Our 20s are the most valuable period in our lives. If you don't pop (not necessarily famous) doing something you love, 9/10 you'll be an regular individual tryna make due for the rest of your life. But if your hustle pays off in whatever you do (professionally or informally) while in your 20s, it changes your thinking. You become more driven and focused because you start building confidence and your skill set from then on. So by the time you are in your 30s, you are coasting, probably already established your own business network and you are therefore more likely to thrive and flourish. I say this because Pras acknowledged it in the interview. These so-called "stars" are not necessarily the best there is out there. Circumstances beyond/within our control influence the trajectory of our hustle in a lifetime. I think I drew most of my emotional instability during my late 20s when I was unsure of where to focus my energy and so my insecurities festered. I had a stable and lucrative job but I resigned to start afresh and find myself because I wasn't HAPPY. Now I feel like I'm 20 but I'm 30. Starting all over again. Daunting but very empowering and liberating. Surprised you recognised him. Most ppl on KZfaq refer to "me" (my avi) as a mess. LOL. Peace to J.M.Basquiat. Street Legend. And good luck with you job!
