1/48 scale Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine from AIRES.
This engine is a part of a full upgrade detail set for Tamiya F4U-1 Corsair kits.
In this video, I show you how I built this Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine.
This is not a sponsored video. The kit, paints, materials and everything I use paid from my own money.

Absolutely brilliant!!! Great to see someone still uses a brush and not falling back to an airbrush to paint the interior green. I would have to say you missed your calling....you would make a great surgeon. Well done!!!!!!!

That music is painful but this is some great footage. The engine build is super quality but making the video at the same time. It’s like WoW!! And they say that the Rolls Royce Merlin was the hero engine of WW ll.

Looks great! Thank-you! To help me learn, did you use thick glue when gluing small parts, to avoid drips?
@cslvisualstudio
@cslvisualstudio 9 ай бұрын
Hi, Most of the time, I use Tamiya's extra-thin glue. It has a nice pointy brush applicator. Easy to control. For the small parts, I like to use gel superglue and a piece of thin wire as an applicator. You are right; controlling the glue is important to avoid drips.

@@cslvisualstudio That’s okay. I’m just hoping one day the manufacturers will realise that P&W and BMW weren’t the only companies to make radials. Then someone with your skills can make a video on how to super detail it. I’m not up to that level.

Hi, It's a whatchmakers tool. Applying fine lubrication in the mechanical movement. I don't use them anymore, a simple cheap 0.3 copper wire does the job.

WOW!!! For ALL That Work you put into that 'CSL' it Sure Looks Superb!!!! Question: 1) Do you prime that resin?? I would think you need to. 2) Which brand of paint do you use? Those metal colors look Good!! ( I'm an 'Alclad 2' user, but your choice looks Just Awesome!!! ) Now, that you have that Superb engine....do you install it into the plane with the cowling??!! I want to do the same thing to my Tamiya kit and install an 'Aeries' resin engine...thanks for posting!!!
@cslvisualstudio
@cslvisualstudio 9 ай бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your comment; I'm glad you enjoyed these videos. As far as I remember, I didn't prime the engine. I used, and I still use, Mr.Color SM series metallic paints, my all-time favourite metallic paints. There are very fine metallic particles in it; it's super smooth. The only downside is not too many tone variety, and it's not cheap. I would recommend buying the Super Iron2 and mixing it white, black, or even brown for different shades. My Corsair is still in the box. I made the engine and the cockpit but haven't finished it yet. One day, for sure, it will come back to my desk. The ARIES set is fantastic but requires a lot of work. Stay tuned; I'm working on interesting things.
