Having that first due engine get their own hydrant worked well. Seems like a well trained department. Looks like a nice stop!

@@washingtoncountyfirebuff I was fortunate to work in a busy, well staffed city. With that said, our second due caught the hydrant. It worked well for us, but I see how catching the hydrant by the first due is best for other departments. There are some big city departments that have the first due catch the hydrant.

O.k. A couple of points for you to ponder. 1. You need to stay proficient with your tool. So use it when you can. 2. The bucket is more stable than an extension ladder and means you don't have to climb a ladder while carrying a saw, ax, etc. Safer. I never liked climbing a ladder with the chainsaw or K tool. 3 At 3:36 if you look close, there are hoses behind the cab. This may be a Quad or Quint style, thus can ack as the first attack with onboard water, also at 1:37 you'll notice a hard suction set up on the front bumper of the ladder. Again indicating this likely isn't just a stick. 4. For evac purposes you can put 4 in the bucket at once, getting them down faster than via extension ladder.

Station/s that will house units from neighboring departments. The specific units that are specified on each level will respond to other emergency calls for the duration of the original call or moved up to the scene during further alarms.
@YelpBullhorn
@YelpBullhorn 3 жыл бұрын
@@orosco83 ... ah I see. Thanks for that. I think that's what we call stand-bys: engines that stand by at an empty station to provide fire cover when a large or protracted incident is in progress. In the UK because all of our fire services are county based, it's quite unusual to go on stand-by over the county border. On-scene mutual aid yes, but rarely on stand-by.

All pumper engine companies have water on board even mostly all truck companies have water on board if they don't they are specifically built to spec's like that, in over 30+ years in Firefighting I've only seen one truck company without a pump. The reason they all " should have water" is because they take a hit on their I.S.O. Rating that makes the city or county's insurance go up depending on quite a few different things that they meet for the certification process. Typically water from a hydrant to the scene should take around 2 minutes. Some take longer depending on the situation
