How long does it take to get water on the fire ? Unless I’m not seeing it from the camera angle it takes way too long to get a line on it. 30 seconds after the parking brake engages and there should be water on the fire. That’s our standard.

What a bunch of armchair firefighting clowns with zero personal experience on an actual fireground. Yeah let's worry about the truck that's already a total loss. Why bother going interior and stopping the fire from spreading throughout the structure first since you would rather see "streams" from the exterior on the truck. The most important line is the first attack line to the interior of the structure. The second even third due can handle the truck. 🤦‍♂️ Thanks for the laugh. Keep up the great work from your keyboards and saving those foundations if you believe the first dues focus was the vehicle fire. Just because you have 40 years experience in Swampbutt Alabama population 75 does not make you an experienced firefighter.

Not too sure about the garden hose stopping the fire from extending to the garage. Radiant heat would have taken care of that. @@ffjsb So you agree, that deploying a garden hose in the Winter, which most people have off, would have been a useful tool? In European countries, their firefighters would immediately use water in the onboard tanks to fight the fire while the main hose is being connected to the hydrant. American firefighters just stand around and twiddle their thumbs until water is available, meanwhile the fire continues to burn. SUPER DUTYS HAVE TWO MAJOR THINGS THAT CAN CAUSE FIRES THAT ARE DESIGN FLAWS. ONE IS THE BRITTLE FUEL FILTER FITTING THAT CAN LEAK AND SPRAY FUEL ALL OVER THE HOT ENGINE AND THE SECOND IS THE LIVE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE THAT GOES COMPLETELY UNDER THE ENGINE AND ALSO GOES TO THE TRANSMISSION.

It’s a diesel truck. If the small fuel filter in the engine compartment broke while the engine was running, the engine would die very quickly thereafter. Also, pouring a stream of diesel on to a hot engine is not enough to auto ignite the fuel. Furthermore, the fuel filter on these Ford 6.7 trucks which is under the hood is mounted near the edge of the engine, but these engines have an interior valley exhaust manifold. The fuel never would get near the manifold. And it sure looked to me like the truck was parked and off at the time of the fire, so the electric lift pump wouldn’t be running anyway. These trucks are as safe as any.

The F150 went to aluminum cabs and beds in 2015; the Super Duty did the same in 2017. Both still have steel frames and everything else beneath the cab and beds. The melting point of aluminum is much lower than steel, and a significant fire like this will definitely melt it after a period of time. But obviously everyone needs to get out of a burning vehicle regardless of what it’s made of, so it really doesn’t matter. The aluminum is just as safe in a crash, and doesn’t rust from road salt like steel bodies do.

All of those circuits should be protected by circuit breaker and or fuses. It clearly looks like the fire starts in the engine compartment so could be many things. Any number of things could have started that truck fire that may have had nothing to do with the truck itself. Rodents chewing wiring, aftermarket accessories, cigarette left burning in the interior, who knows.

It's weird how that Ford dualie's roof burned away. Must not be made of sheet metal.

The cab and bed are made of aluminum which has a lower melting point than steel. I’m surprised it remained intact as long as it did with the intensity of the fire.

Water mostly need to be pumped form a long distance through pump engines, every occasion this is definitely essential. It takes multiple engines and Crew's.

Don't you think you want to stop the fire on the pick-up truck seeing as how that's what keeps the fire going on the house?????

I was wondering if I was there I could have called in the helicopter 🚁 with the water bag just in case if the house use gas propane tank to avoid any damage to the firefighter and other people around the area 🤔 but it's only my opinion .

Clearly…see how easily they extinguished the fire? EV would require thousands of gallons and perhaps days of monitoring. This big truck needed probably less than 150 gallons and a few minutes to put out.
