I think that whether it be prototypical O Scale or Pre-War, or even real life, trains and railroads are their own forms of art

With several O Gauge sized Prewar accessories that Lionel and MTH have made, this new State Set would look right at home, along with a similar freight set that Lionel did plus their two red and blue Commodore Vanderbilt locomotives.

pretty cool to see you drop a mention of American OO. of course I'm sure most people are aware of how it's now the preserve of British outline modelers for sub-O scale trains. what's lesser known is that American OO and modern OO run on two very different gauges. British OO shares the same track standards as HO (which often leads to some confusion as to the scales as play), this is driven by a historical compromise due to british prototypes being largely too small for readily available electric motors in HO scale, so they adopted OO models running on HO track with the chassis being narrow to gauge prototypically. there were attempts to drive a switch to HO as motors became smaller in the 70s by European companies such as Lima and Rivarossi, but these were not commercial successes. For those who might be looking to bag these models, Lima made the LMS 3f class tender 0-6-0 and British Rail class 33 Bo-Bo diesel, along with a selection of typical british rolling stock, and Rivarossi made the LMS Royal Scot class 4-6-0 and some matching coaches American O, however, runs on 19mm gauge which has more in common with what's now known as P4, a very fine scale standard which runs on a gauge of 18.83mm, though of course the track tolerances are vastly different

Fun fact: The Milwaukee Road EP-2 electrics are one of the most powerful electric locomotives, with a tractive effort of 116000 pounds of force, or 516 kilonewtons.

Love you previewing this set Eric. I love pre- war. I also love high rail true looking engines and cars too. So my preference expands a through different eras. Yet they all look great running around that layout. Same as yours. Thanks again for another great review and video!!!

Hey Eric you seem to be very knowledgeable about the different eras of Lionel trains. Do you think we could get a video from you to talk about the different eras and some highlights from that era and make it kind of a series? Like one episode about the pre-war era, a short one about the War era, and about the cardboard train, the next about post-war and so on and so forth?

It’s funny you mention o Gauge trains being smaller Because now HO and N scale are considered the go to gauges for small homes and apartments Heck most model railroad clubs if not all involve HO and N scale railroading Infact if there is a future for miniature railroading I think it would HO and N scale because let’s face it most people live in apartments nowadays

If they had an Erie or Erie-Lackawana (the ONLY other 3,000v DC Railroad in the USA; Commuter Service), or a CN or Butte, Anaconda & Pacific (2400v DC lines; the BA&P did host some Milwaukee Road locos for show), then we'd be cooking with heat! I love this State Set though; it's a Real Dreamboat, and I'm from the Bi-Polar's home turf of Western Washington!
