Machining a Precision Gyroscope Flywheel and axle for a customer for his particular gyroscope project. I have to make three of these but show one being machined in this video. Precision and concentricity is a must! The flywheels are made from brass and the axles from 3/16” drill rod. A fun DIY project for any machinist. Many Thanks to Chris at Clickspring for the idea of using a superglue arbor for the gyroscope! Please subscribe and click the notifications “bell” to get notified of newly released videos. Oh, Gary took the housing and shaft. Said that he would put it on the milling machine and bore the old bushing out and make a new one. Also cut the oil grooves. He also took the fork and spider and said he would see what he could do to take the slop out of that too. I am overwhelmed at the level of help and advice, you, Gary, and others have provided me on this journey. Thanks again buddy. Joe

I am filming your parts being made Joe, figured may as well make a video out of it. Challenging making a square headed bolt on a lathe...but it can be done. I have the bolt all completed except for the square head. Gonna knock it out in the morning and get them off to you 👍🏼

4:10 Nice rings! 4:36 Hah! they were too much for you :D You did an excellent job not leaving a scratch on it! 8:10 I'd want that bracelet if it wouldn't cut me up. No advice for you from this video, everything done perfectly professionally! So a Glue arbor is what you used to remount it, smart...

Love your videos. Thanks for taking the time to post. I was just wondering, wouldn't true precision demand the use of a micrometer rather than the calipers?

For sure on your choice of tooling. HS can be made far sharper than carbide any day. I used to turn a lot of Inconel (Over 4 ft) and found only HS and Rapid Tap could do the job on the rubber like metal. May I use the Crazy Glue idea ? I have done similar with wood using a pc. of paper between the pieces. but never thought of doing that.Sweet job bud. We do all have the BAE standard eh. "Break All Edges" Lessens the blood flow later on, LOL, LOL ! Thanks again,I'll be back there fella !

Done. I do so much on a sm 8 in.x24 in. old beater( i still need to show you) I wonder if Ford started with this one in his garage. My friend never did have the threading gears for. It spends most of it's life now turning starter and alternator armatures and rotors until I get there. It is amazing what it can produce.

I am kind of surprised you are using a "Very-near" for this. Although I trust a dial far more than a digital anyday as long as the rack is kept clean as clean can be. Mine is a Mit. and over 40 yrs old and never lies to me.
