Yes the late Bill Paxton still holds the distinction of being the only actor that has portrayed characters that have been killed by each of the three sci-fi trinity of monsters. I think Lance Henriksen is a close second since he also portrayed characters that have been killed or injured by each. He was killed by the Terminator in the original Terminator movie, He was also killed by a Predator in Alien v Predator and finally his android character named Bishop was seriously damaged by the Alien in the movie Aliens.

The predator in this film is a new hunter. His prey selection is less impressive, he's more impulsive and he brings more technology and relies on it more. He is being tested by his pack. It's why he attacks the commuters and King Willy. The predator in the first film is very picky about his prey. He leaves an entire camp of armed soldiers and only hunts the elite troops. He has far less gear and no company. He's a veteran hunter. The wider universe is fascinating in this.

Nope, he killed the commuters because they were threats due to them all being armed, as was King Willy with his sword (and Willy was also the head honcho of a gang). He didn't kill the pregnant cop (because she was pregnant) and he didn't kill the kid in the graveyard because he knew the gun was fake, otherwise he'd have likely killed him too.

This movie is totally underrated. Danny Glover is definitely worthy. What he lacks in brute strength, he makes up for in street smarts and raw rage stemming from the killing of his partner. The small changes in the predator design are so fucking bad-ass. While the pressure does get unhinged towards the end he seems to be High up in the hunting higharchy to be able to hunt in a populated city. I Don't think just any predator would be allowed to do that .

@carloszestyboy2901
@carloszestyboy2901 2 жыл бұрын
@Stephen Miller this predator was a Youngblood/Blooded at most. Similar to the Feral Predator in Prey it made a lot of sloppy mistakes due to it’s inexperience. An Elite-class predator like Wolf for example could quite easily hunt even the most dangerous and skilled humans. These guys are centuries old and are veterans of hunting numerous dangerous species on other worlds. This is why they are much more cautious and humble as they recognize the threat that some sapient species possess despite them being physically inferior

@@ApexHydra- In "Predator:Hunting Grounds",City Hunter has the loudest,most aggressive roar of all playable Predators which fits his hunting style,overconfidence and youngblood status.However,paradoxically he is the first to display the Yautja honor code,not attacking unarmed opponents, when his infrared shows Cantrell to be pregnant he relents as it would be dishonorable to kill a woman with child(Killing prey who cannot fight back isn`t sportsmanlike after all),hell he even seems to have a twisted sense of humor as shown when he plays back the audio file of the little boy who asked him if he wants some candy earlier in the train station.He also seems slightly more sadistic than the original Jungle Hunter as shown by how he hangs up his kills like animals in a slaughterhouse.
@ApexHydra-

@@AspieMediaBobby I'm pretty sure jungle hunter did display his honor code since he never attacked that unarmed woman that was with Dutchs group. Predator 2 is an underrated classic. I love it! Getting Danny Glover was an inspired choice, imho. Obviously it was a shame that we didn't get Arnold to come back, but glover was a fantastic second choice. @@GoldSrc_ I've heard a few reasons why he didn't return. One was that he turned it down for terminator 2. Not sure if I buy that excuse though. I think predator 2 started filming around the beginning of 1990. I'm guessing it would've wrapped before T2 went into production. I actually think it's a shame that they never got Glover back to do another predator movie. Would've been even better to get him and Arnold in one.

I think of it like the same way Die Hard works. It's a departure from the body builder super hero where instead you've got a tough cop who's more relatable because he's not invincible and he can get hurt but he perseveres. Imagine Die Hard with Arnold as John McClane... I don't think it would be as good. Same reason I actually like Predator 2 better than the original because the hero is more of an every man and not a comic book super hero. It feels more realistic.

37:57 "Why he got a pistol?" It's interesting that you ask that because this ending scene was supposed to set up the next potential movie, which would have been a prequel about the pistol particularly showing where it came, why the Elder predator has it, and what his giving of the pistol to him means. Unfortunately, since Predator 2 wasn't the huge box office success 20th Century Fox was expecting it to be (I mean it at best, was a modest hit if you count global sales along with it but it didn't bring much in sales for the US. US sales alone brought in 30 million on a 30 million dollar budget which is good because the studio at least got their investment back but bad because they didn't see a profit on it), the sequel got canceled, so Dark Horse Comics stepped in and instead turned the story into a comic book titled 'Predator 1718'. Had the next movie happened, a line of more sequels would have been released showing that the Predators have actually been coming to Earth for centuries and show how other many other people throughout different points of time had fought off against the Predators with more primitive weaponry (hence the Dinosaur Skull as being part of the collection). They would've been set during historic times such as the Civil War and World War 1, the Crusades, and even Indigenous people such as the Mayans, Vikings, Aztecs, and Zulu warriors. And BTW, the Predators keep coming back to Earth because they just love the earthlings as opponents and the challenge bring to them in battle. In a way, the earthlings really keep the Predators on their toes and motivate them to constantly bring their A-Game whenever dealing with them. Interestingly enough the next and most recent installment in the Predator franchise, "Prey (2022)" would revive of this old idea and IMO can be considered the REAL Predator 3 in a way.

Those that defeated you in a fair hunt, or who are the victors in a deadlier hunt, should be considered an equal and must be shown respect. Never harm the innocent: Those who have done no harm should have no harm done to them. That’s basically the honor code that all predators have to live by or else they get banished from their planet

Nice reaction bro, Predator 1 & 2 represent the lore and the essence of the franchise. The name of Elder Predator is Greyback, a Clan Leader. Also we have a connected trilogy between Prey - Predator 1 - Predator 2.

I always thought Wesley Snipes would have been more believable to fight a Predator. I always did like this movie because as a kid it was one of the only Predator films available. I read the comics and read the tie in books. I was obsessed with Predator and Aliens as a teen. I love Bill Paxton too, as one should, he was awesome. His character in TRUE LIES kills me every time I see that movie. RIP Bill. For Halloween you should watch his directorial debut and great horror film, FRAILTY. It's not full of jump scares but gives you a sense of uneasiness throughout. It's a hugely underrated movie.

I remember people being disappointed that Arnold wasn’t in part 2. I was like „Roger Murtaugh fighting Aliens? Hell yeah 🤘“ I love part 1 but also love part 2. Glover and the city/cop setting of the second part, made this a complete different kind of movie.

I'm glad I found your channel. Your reactions to the predator and predator 2 movies are a hoot and a half!! Danny Glover was a very believable good guy who was able to take down the predator. If I understand correctly this predator wasn't too experienced hunting!! Another Arnold movie that's underrated is called " end of days" it came out in 1999. Gabriel Byrne, Robin Tunney, and Kevin Pollock Co star!! 2 other action, horror movies that I enjoy is " from dusk till dawn" it came out in 1995. And " deep rising" that came out in the mid 90's

Love your reaction as always JL and your analysis of Danny’s running skills throughout ;) Glad you caught the gun link to Prey whereas most of us didn’t get to watch Prey before Predator 2. If you ever was to react to an amazing 8 minute independent film involving Batman, Joker, Aliens and Predator than I highly recommend reacting to Batman: Dead End. It’s worth the 8 minutes and the acting/cinematography/costume design are all top notch. Hope to see you check it out.

If your a Danny Glover fan, check out Places in the Heart from 1984. It stars, Sally Field Danny Glover John Malkovitch Ed Harris Lots of good actors when they weren't well known yet. It's set in 1935 Texas. Great film that not a lot of people know about. Only one movie reactor has reacted to it, so you should cover it since most reactors aren't. Great reaction to Predator 2! As usual, you had me laughing through most of it.

Nice bit on spotting the xenomorph’s skull on the trophy wall. That one little prop is was started the entire ‘Alien vs Predator’ franchise. However, the movie got it backwards in regards to the lore. A young Predator has to first kill an exceptional human to be granted the right to hunt a xenomorph. Once they’ve killed one in single combat (and it must be with bladed weapons only, wrist blades, spears, ect.), they are ‘blooded’, by that they literally use the alien’s acid blood to burn a mark onto their forehead and helmet, almost always the mark of the clan they belong to. Only then are they considered true adults in their society.
