A very thorough video! I watched it. Bought the $15 carberator kit from Amazon. Once it arrived and 15 minutes later the Predator was back in action! Kept the old carb and I will clean that up and use as a spare when needed.

We have one of those that ended up with the fuel tank getting leaves and water in it. I also, had to replace the fuel valve and clean out the carburetor. Fortunately, I was able to clean out the leaves from the fuel tank and used a KZfaq video to clean out the carburetor. After getting everything back together, it came back to life. The best part is it didn't cost us much to get that $1k generator running again.

@@smallengineguys Actually no. We were interested in getting a generator. But, we couldn't afford one. Eventually, we got one only because it was on sale for $400 or $500.

this little 4000 will run your whole house just not the oven dryer ac or hot water heater. to give you an idea. i have a 2000 watt. it runs a 5000 btu ac window unit, 2 fridges, 3 phone chargers and a lightbulb 60 watt. my 4000 i plug directly into the house i turn off all 220 it runs everything including my 8000btu portable ac in my room and my daughters 5000 btu window unit in hers.

@@smallengineguys I did a test of ours as well. We were able to get only so far on the 120v receptacle before it became too taxing on the engine. We, finally, got some 4-prong hardware (a 100 foot cable and a portable power center) to see what we could do with the 240v side. We were able to keep our refrigerator, freezer, one TV, and our internet hardware running. I think we even tested our microwave. We, probably, could have done more given what you were able to do. But, we wanted to see what we could do with keeping just the bare essentials running.

Update, I just used the piece of wire with a lot of patience and a lot of carb cleaner same with the needle jet put it back together change the oil gap the plug started up second time after 12 years setting, lol. Thank you so much man if you ever come to California let me know. Like to buy you a beer. Or 10

@@The_Happy_Aviation_Enthusiast of course not. my shop is open on both ends with 4 fans facing the same direction forcing air through the shop. starting equipment isnt an issue for me. thanks for your concern. ps if you have to say your trying to be nice there is a very large possibility you arent.

Great video I have 2 of these they are little work horses. Except when the temp goes artic cold below zero tried to start the next big size and no chance. But I don't blame it I didn't want to be out there working that night either..

follow my instructions step by step. she will i do it all the time. make sure your tank is super clean before reassembly. and use brand new gas

@@poolman8676 go to your local drug store. They have a hard wax for filling in your own cavaties. Lasts a couple weeks but is way better than suffering threw the pain till you can get to the dentist

@@smallengineguys hey man, as you said the main jet doesn't want to come out. I don't have any acid. Also, the float valve doesn't want to come off it's all gummed in there. Any suggestions?

@@poolman8676 lots of carb cleaner. I use a wire from a wire wheel i pull 1out with pliers to poke the jet. Even pressure pulling up on the needle valve keep rinsing keep trying it eventualy will come out. Other then that new carb is in the description be there in a couple days.

yep one speed. you hook up a multi meter to the outlet then adjust throttle up or down till it hits 120 volts perfect

I noticed you never took the main jet out after you cleaned it with the acid. Obviously everything got cleaned by the acid. Is that always the case? Just wondering, since you were already at that point, why not unscrew the main jet and remove the emulsion tube for inspection? Loved how quickly the acid worked.

sometimes the jet wont come out easy this must have been the case. not sure why its not in the video must have gotten my pause record mixed up. but yes 90 percent of the time you dont have to pull it although i do it everytime i can because ten percent of the time you have to do it twice.

What if you do all this and the generator still won’t run outside of the choke mode?

gotta do the carb again. happens. i have to so them 2 or 3 times sometimes. the jet is still dirty

I stocked my Predator 4000 with full tank, and after 1 month without using it it leaks on the black box on the carburettor you pulled out... What seems to be the problem to stop the leak? Should I empty the tank when not using it?

you will need to clean the carb like i showed. the needle valve under the float is stuck open. it is better to empty the tank and carb when your storing. but even this isnt a perfect plan. but it does help.

I just bought a predator 9000 generator and I have a leak on the bolt that goes from the gas tank to the fuel shut off valve any suggestions to fix it would be appreciated thank you

Im assuming you are talking about the threaded part that goes in the tank. Simply tighten the nut but gently these break easy.
