Predator 8750 Generator Trifuel Kit Installation Walkthrough

Brief walkthrough of what it takes to install a trifuel kit on a Predator generator (Honda 420cc clone) so it can run off of gasoline, propane (LPG,) or natural gas (NG.)
Note that this kit works on a number of different models of generator.

I got the same kit as you and I cannot install on my 8750 without a stud extender (not included in kit). Did you buy extenders or does your adapter fit without one?

hey mark, off topic question! did u find a way to slow the engine down to get 50 hz instead of 60hz???? i have a chinese welder and it runs at 220 50 hz.

What's the average run time for a typical propane tank? I know it would vary, but does it rival the gasoline runtimes? (Is the kit worth it, I guess)

Were the HF studs long enough to accommodate the added plastic block spacer? Or did your propane kit come with longer studs?

Great video. We have the Predator 9000 watts generator and I just installed a similar tri fuel kit like this one. According to the instructions, I have to change the spark plug gap from the factory 0.028 to 0.018 when running NG. Did you change the gap on your spark plug? If so, did you leave the gap alone when running gasoline and NG?

I didn't change my gap, and didn't notice any issues. However, ymmv, as I run mine very infrequently (usually just the every-three-month remover.)

Where did you buy the kit what was the price and the model number? The reason I’m asking is US carb has a Tri power low pressure kit and a Tri power high pressure kit and each time I checked the price the first was 187 and the second was 269.

I have a Predator 8750/7,000 running watts Generator and 3/4” pipe out the back of house and was wondering if 1/2” hose about 25 to 30 feet would run my 420cc motor or would I have to take my 3/4” hose closer and run a 10 ft 1/2” hose to gen set. Thanks

What is the difference between using this on natural gas vs propane? Do you use the same regulator, just with the addition of a pressure reducing valve with the propane? And then tweak the valve? Thanks!

General rule of thumb is a 20lb propane tank is roughly equivalent to 5gal of gas! On thirds same generator I get about 13hrs to 8gal of gas that out holds! This is a rough estimate though! Lots take in factor of consumption

Hi there, I really need your help. Can you provide me with the model # for the Predator you did the installation on in the video? I just purchased a new 8750 Predator (someone different is now building it for them so things are a bit different) and conversion kit but as everything is now moved out further from the carburetor due to the Venturi adapter, I cannot put the air cleaner cover back, it hits the tubular frame. I called Predator parts and they can tell me if the air cleaner from your older model will fit mine but thy need the model #. Much appreciated.

Did you say you had to pump the button while you’re starting the engine? If so, how are you going to be able to pull the cord and press the button behind the regulator at the same time? Sorry if I misunderstood you. Thanks

All that button does is purge the air out of the hose. You just hold it down for a few seconds then start the engine. There should be no need to hold it down or pump it while you are cranking the engine over by pull or electric start. Those kits are expensive. I got my tri fuel carb for $39. The carbs for the bigger engines like this one are a little more expensive.

Do you leave the gas tank completely empty and dry? Have you ever used gasoline with your generator?

Or perhaps vice versa. Use gasoline, have the conversion kit ready to be placed on the generator when you decide you need to run natural or propane gas.

@@golf-n-guns I know I am probably too late, but I've read to break in any generator on gas for 5-6 hours before installing the conversion kit. I don't know if it makes a difference, I personally don't see why it would (literally nothing mechanical changes besides the carb intake) but who knows. I hope it worked out.
