Don’t forget about the generator safety rules: Always make sure you follow all the generator safety rules whenever you use your portable generator. This is only a reminder. Please do not allow a child or unqualified people to operate the portable generator. It is important to keep your children safe especially little ones. The portable generator can be hot during an operation. Just because some manuals missed what should be listed doesn’t mean it’s safe to do. Always follow the generator safety rules when using portable generators. Generators pose electrical risks. If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Do not wear loose clothing when operating the generator. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important. This is only a reminder for everyone’s safety of using generators. Make sure your generator is properly grounded. Westinghouse makes several dual fuel units so surely you can order one from them

Hi Michael, you are correct the same carburetor can do LPG and CNG. That said, I’m not 100% sure about home natural gas but it should work. It all has to do with the pressure of the gas and since the carburetor can work with both low pressure and compressed natural gas that means it should work. I would try it and if it doesn’t work right away you may just need a variable pressure regulator at your natural gas line to dial it in. I hope this helps.

LP gas pressure should be 11inches of water column. Natural gas should be 3.5 inches of water column.

this is not for natural gas that's a three way carb not a two way this is propane and gasoline only

Originally yes just to test it and it works fine. Later on I ran a short piece of LP tubing to a quick disconnect and clamped it to the generator frame. So now I have a quick disconnect on the tank and the generator which makes it a breeze to connect.

No. I even took everything off and reinstalled from scratch. Nothing changed. Still works but I can't shake the suspicion I might have done something writing.

I would have to stop by a Harbor Freight to see the changes on the new models.

@@user-xf7dh5cv7c the only big difference (so far!) is the choke. The newer 8750 has the choke actuator on the front panel. On the older model, the choke is turned on with the black lever on the carb. It is possible that the unit would work without the lever on the carb. Might be able to connect the new one. The new one has a cable the attaches to the choke on the carb with a screw. I’ve sent email to Hipa but no response yet! ( Friday afternoon west coast) I ordered the one described on your video and Amazon says it will arrive 2/28. I’ll see if I can make it work, if not, it’s returnable! But thanks for the video!

no you turn off the gas shut off valve and let the motor run dry then you good to go with the propane

The on/ off switch drains the gasoline from the carb float bowl before transitioning to propane. Also the brass turn screw above the prime button adjusts the propane mixture. I just got one of these kits and am planning on installing with a quick connect, but am looking for a clean way to mount the male quick connect end.

Hi Adrian, The run time will depend mostly on the load so I’m not 100% sure about a 20lb tank. I only used the 20lb for testing. Be careful that the motor is not running lean. An adjustable regulator at the propane tank may dial it in but you risk burning up the motor if you run it lean.

There is no regulator on the new carb kit. You need one on the tank.

Ok, here is the right answer. Nat gas to your house is already regulated to low pressure. Propane from a tank is high pressure until you install a regulator on the tank just like for a gas grill. Now you have low pressure propane available. The diaphragm/regulator on the carb does a final regulation but its main role is to “carburete” or meter in the gas based on the inlet manifold vacuum pulses. It is critical not to assume the “regulator” on the carb is to reduce high pressure propane to low pressure. Use a proper regulator on the tank to do that. See the video where there is a typical regulator on the tank. The unit on the carb will also stop gas flow when engine stops as it is no longer receiving vacuum pulses. It just stays closed. When using propane or NG do not use the choke. That is only for gasoline.

Hi Thomas, yes the wires run to the fuel shutoff solenoid on the carburetor. Often called an “anti-backfire solenoid”. Cheers!

@@lindotech8204 ok thanks just word of advice be sure to shut off the gasoline /Petro at the tank when not in use them solenoids are known to get stuck stay open and allow the fuel to gravity feed into engine block mix with the motor oil. And most lawn tractors also.I have predator 420 motor in my golf cart it has happened twice on me. Symptoms are heavy smell of gasoline/Petro in the air . Oil on dip stick is like water smell of gas . Tapping sounds from the motor when running. It can do heavy damage to the motor.

I'll let you know when I can try it! I think vacuum from the engine moves the diaphragm which opens a valve to let gas in. I would think it should shut the gas off (mostly) without vacuum from the engine.

@@BonannoCM I just got my new carb installed, but haven't tested it. I was thinking, are you using a separate regulator? Maybe there's too much pressure going into the carburetor? (I have a 0-5psi adjustable regulator on order.)

@@shuumai I purchased the regulator recommended by Amazon as frequently ordered by those who buy this model of tri fuel carburator. It allows far more fuel flow than what's necessary to run the generator, but even the lowest settings is still enough to keep the gas flowing. It doesn't mean much to me. I have no intention to keep the regulator open or tank connected when not in use. I did purchase a second carburator thinking the first was defective. It's exactly the same and has the same issue. It's always nice to have a backup. I once owned a propane powered forklift and commercial size generator. And l presently own a generac propane generator attached to my home. None of them had or have this issue. My only complaint is the total lack of documentation available. Take care, and double check all connections for leaks ( including the carburator gaskets ) before the first startup. You can never be too careful.

@@BonannoCM mine is not flowing propane while the generator is off. Unless I just can't hear it. The generator is running better on propane than gasoline at this point! I think it has a jet issue. I'm also starting to suspect that the plastic spacer might be causing at air leak.
