He's always been a midfielder and the only reason he was slapped at Right back is because Clyne got injured and we had NO ONE else. But he then recreated the position and made it his own. He isn't saying give your money to them but rather help them better transition into society where they can still make valuable contributions in other ways than playing footie. It’s not about giving them money, it’s about helping them find jobs or other opportunities. Most of these players sacrifice their education to try make it as a pro but when they fail, all they’ve done since they were 9/10 years old have played football. He did a great interview in the guardian explaining exactly how much it takes to make it through the academy and what his schooling looked like etc and you’ll understand why a lot of there’s some people that struggle to adapt after they get released
