I had adult braces at age 25 and still had 2 baby teeth which were my fangs because the adult teeth grew on top but my baby teeth wouldn’t fall out. I had to have a chain in my mouth to drop down the teeth. The whole process took a year and a half - 2 years. I was insecure about getting them as an adult, but believe it or not people would actually tell me the braces complimented me and gave me a younger appearance.

Mine at 26 were an estimated 18 months and actually got them off 20 months later. I feel like I could have used 2 more months but my teeth improved 90%. Overall very happy with my results.

I’m so mad my case was less severe than the two latter cases and yet my treatment lasted ALMOST 3 years… but I guess it’s a case by case basis so I can’t compare, im just mad I had to graduate secondary school with them and go through uni with them😮‍💨

I live in the US and braces is the cost of minimum $6000 . My dental insurance doesn’t cover orthodontics so I travel to Colombia 😊. It costs less and even with flying back and forth it is still significantly cheaper .

Geez lads … On Aug 23 this year I was aged 51. Yep 51, born 1971 😅 On Aug 19th 2022 I got adult braces applied …, when my underbite & crooked teeth are somewhat right … in 12-14 months I will undergo DOUBLE JAW surgery. I’m soooo looking forward to getting my face fixed, and am already bitter over the life I’ve lived with a deformed jaw/ Hapsburg jawline. So don’t any of you guys moan about a little bit of discomfort

Dose the same apply if your missing a few back teeth I have braces and I’ve had them for nine going on ten months and I see a slight difference but then again my crowding was severe and I had quite a few extractions from bad teeth in the back of my mouth. Now I gotta get four teeth in my mouth once treatment is done. Thanks again

i am 42. just got mine 2 1.5 months ago. i was told 2 years for mine. i see so much change with my teeth already. but my teeth hurt all the time. and when i eat its worse. and taking advil 24/7 isnt safe. i never wanna go through this again! i am excited though to smile for once with straight teeth. i keep thinking about this and thats what keeps me going.

I had done braces 2 times.. first when I was 16years old and the second time , when I was 23 years old. I'm wearing a night guard on my metal braces. I was advised to use a night guard due to grinding. My Ortho molded me a silicone type of night guard. However, I couldn't close my mouth during my sleep, and drool a lot and when I wake up, I end up with a dry mouth. I was wondering if my night guard would also hinder the movement of my teeth?

In general teeth grinding doesn't affect braces too much - while in braces you can get bite pads placed on your teeth that keep your teeth separated and help to reduce the amount of wear you are putting on your teeth. Getting your teeth aligned and bite fixed can sometimes help to reduce your grinding as well. Plus, once you're finished with treatment you can get a nightguard to act as a retainer and to prevent grinding long term. Hope that helps!

36 years… had invisilign (do not recommend) for 1.5 years…. Didn’t work. When it fixed my spacing, my bite was thrown off. Finally, my ortho put regular braces on for about 1.5 years. Insisted that the plastic retainers work better than a holly retainer. I said okay. My teeth started to form a gap! Gave me a normal retainer and worked perfect, but feel like things weren’t perfect to begin with but the ortho insisted they were. Now I may have to get them put back on! 🤬 wish he’d just refund the money so I can find someone else.

Yes, brackets can be bonded to porcelain. The bond strength is a bit weaker than natural tooth structure, but it still works.

I just got braces yesterday. Then when I went to bed I freaked out. I was like get this off me now! So it’s understandable and you’re not alone. I’m in pain today and can’t eat solid food 😫 hang in there! We can do this!! In the end it’ll be worth it!

You have already done the hard part by getting them started. Keep at it, it does get easier. I wore them twice and getting ready to start again at 66 yrs. Wear the retainer and you will not have future issues. Hang in there, you can do this!

I got my braces on September 2020. And I still haven't gotten them off. I'm so frustrated now. I feel it's gonna take a year more. I had to stop my treatment for four to six months because of covid in between and my teeth were really crooked. So somewhere I understand that the process is gonna take time. But it's frustrating.

Hey! I had my braces on for 4 years, got them off when I was 18. 3rd year in, I was so frustrated and begged my doctor to take it out. Now a few years later, I need to get braces again. And that’s because we took them out a few months too early, I wish I kept them for longer and fix my teeth once and for all. So be strong, you’ll thank yourself in a few years time. My appointment’s next week!

55 and just got braces 😊. Takes a bit of getting used to, been on a week, but my teeth don’t hurt, so I’m not sure if it’s actually moving anything 😢

It is shifting as long as they’re still on. You aren’t going to specifically feel them move. I got mine 3 n half months ago. And the bottoms 2 weeks ago
