@@thetinygarden_ I have to admit I just buy seaweed liquid feed already made and I add it to my banana skins’ juice ( stewed banana skins in water!). It seems to have worked for me last year. If I was near a beach I would definitely do what you do! You live in a beautiful part of the world! 😘💕🌸

Ohhhh you peaked my interest with the banana peels 🍌 its funny you mentioned that! I only had a banana the other day, and I was sitting there thinking to myself, I am sure there is a use for this banana skin in the garden 🙈 you just throw a few akins in water and let it steep for a few weeks?

Those Pink ruffled tulips look amazing. Sweet Peas do smell amazing. Those spring bulbs will be just fine. Tulips can be finicky about coming back, year after year for me, especially hybrid varieties. For me, I just feel blessed if I get more than 1 year. Love that seaweed homemade fertilizer and the look of your revamped garden.

Oh Laura, how blessed you are to live so close to the ocean. Green with jealousy! Making free seaweed fertilizer is just the best idea. Roo 🐕‍🦺 seems delighted to be at the beach. I planted my very first spring bulbs in December. A friend gave me a container of forced daffodils last January and I planted them in my front yard just last month. The bed has been covered with snow since Sunday. 😮 A gift from the Arctic to America! Gee thanks! I’ve always loved fritillarias. Can’t wait to see yours! Take care my friend, Cindy 🙋🏻‍♀️

I collect seaweed on the beach, hang it up to dry and when its dried stiff run it through the shredder to make my own seaweed meal . I also throw some in with the comfrey and nettles in my converted wheelie bin liquid fertiliser factory. I planted my tulips in my back garden, last year I only did two pots with orange ones, I couldn't stop looking at them they were so pretty & pleasant to look at in miserable weather. This year I've planted more in my big boxes like yours, I went for orange & yellow ones. Your bulbs should be fine. Tulip in particular love the freezing cold. Here in Melbourne, Australia, we can get down to - 1oC overnight on occasion, but generally it's not really not enough cold to convince tulips to flower. We get leaves but getting flowers is a bit hit or miss unless up at a higher elevation with enough chill.

@@thetinygarden_ oh, don't get me wrong! We definitely get snow on the mountains and elevated regions (mostly in the eastern states) so it can be freezing! One of the things I had to explain to my Canadian friend is that whilst Melbourne rarely gets snow and it never stays (melts as it reaches the ground), we do get the freezing winds off the Antarctic so the wind makes it feel much colder than it is. I visited her in Canada and I was wearing a summer dress with a cardigan on an 11 deg Celsius day, because it turns out without constant icy wind, it's actually not a bad temperature! 😆 Then when they got a freak mini snowstorm while I was there and we were walking home from the shops, I pointed out that that was what 13 deg feels like in Melbourne 😂

If you have a garden store close, try and ask if they have some dried or even liquid seaweed fertliser. If you can't find these, can you grow comfrey? That makes a good tea as well! Chicken pellet manure and blood fish and bone are also good alternatives if you can't access the things to make the tea!
