Pretty cool to see the water spot remover start to do the rainbow effect once it started to dry. I’m sure jay is happy that his hood isn’t getting the Georgia red clay treatment this video 😂 diy detailing products seem to be top notch.

Same here just had to bite the billet and go for it. If using a DA polisher with a polish you should be good. Hard to damage with that combo.

Nice man, thanks for the video. I need to quit being scared and start doing this on my car. I have a Rupes DA I bought a while ago I think from Chemical Guys. New in box, hopefully it works and not DoA :(

If just polishing and with a DA it will be safe. Just go a few passes at a time and check. You can always do more if needed. Took me a bit took get enough confidence.

I tried a paint pen for the first time last week and kinda messed up a little. Today I tried wet sanding for the first time and about gave myself a panic attack 😑 the spot it leaves after the first sanding.... Thankfully the cutting compound I got worked really good and when I was done it actually didn't look that bad. I still need to go back over it with some better light so I can really see what I'm doing. Also a electric buffer would be flipping amazing, doing this by hand is a nightmare.
@CarsWithKeav
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
Doing that by hand is some serious work. The electric products will help do a more uniform job and cut easier. Just have to be careful not to get the pad hot.
@koreywilliams4570

@@CarsWithKeav it was a pretty small spot probably less than a 2 ft square. But still, it took a lot of elbo grease to get it done. There's still some micro scratches on the vehicle but I'm going to wait till I go electric before I go and do the full paint correction. I just wanted to fix the spot I messed up with the paint pen lol It looked like a big booger sitting on my hood 😑 the paint comes out kinda thick and doesn't spread very well. Definitely a trick to using it I haven't figured out yet.

Hey great video! But i was wondering if there's a better product out there? Or is this just as good as other waxes?
@CarsWithKeav
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
This is actually just a polish that corrects light scratches and helps with oxidation among other things. It has no fillers so it is not a wax like polish. Since it has no fillers you can basically use it on anything and no white residue left behind on trim.

Does anyone know which non diy detail pad is recommended, I know it’s a system but I have a maxshine mini polisher that comes with a bunch of pads.

You can use any pad as far as I know. They just will always push their pads which are very good.

@@CarsWithKeav yeah I tried micro fiber and yellow foam from Maxshine, they both get the job done. Microfiber cuts a little quicker which was expected.

@@CarsWithKeav For new detailers DIY suggests using the yellow medium waffle pad with the gold standard polish...It's a great combination because the waffle pad keeps the clear coat cool and the gold standard polish has a really long cycle time...

@@dini1046 The Uro 50/50 pad which is micro fiber cutting and wool portion finishing works amazing because it cuts really well but also finishs well do to the wool in it. Used with a one step like DIY golden standard, 3D ONE, or even Turtle Wax graphene one step are winning combitions.

Right now just quick beads by DIY Detail. Using the hood to test soaps and chemicals. Want to see how they clean and wear down coatings without a full ceramic. It’s a spray on rinse off ceramic/graphene sealant. Very much like easycoat by Gtechniq or Wet Coat by Gyeon. if interested CARSWITHKEAV gets 10% off.

What are your thoughts on that Ryobi polisher? Would you buy it again?
@CarsWithKeav
@CarsWithKeav Жыл бұрын
For what I do with my cars I think it is worth it. If you are looking to do a lot of detailing and corrections I would not. If you're looking to just polish every now and then and have Ryobi batteries I would buy. If not the cost of a battery and charger puts you in the same range of better products.

@@CarsWithKeav thanks. Just looking to do light enhancement or pain cleansing and applying liquid waxes and stuff with it. Might be a good option then. Hard to justify the cost of the Milwaukee one or other more expensive ones for light DIYer use.

Flexzilla hose have a habit of blowing apart for me. Went through 3 of them in 2 weeks.
@CarsWithKeav

Youhave some insane pressure spikes? Hoses outside in the heat with water on? Have mine fully pressurized on the wall setup and still on my first one of course I’m climate controlled so you don’t get that hot hose burst. I know some who blow hoses use a pressure relief valve and turn their water on and off with the garden hose nozzle on so it doesn’t build any pressure.

@@CarsWithKeav my pressure is around 145lbs measured by my plumber. When I returned the hose to Lowes the kid at the return counter said they have been getting constant returns. Saying they had a quality issue somewhere or sometime recently.
@CarsWithKeav
@CarsWithKeav 7 ай бұрын
@@mtnmann72 Had to be a bad batch for sure. 145 is very high though . Is that the held pressure or the constant flow pressure? Most building codes require no higher than 80 psi. Most hoses would not survive long term at that pressure especially if it’s hot outside.
@mtnmann72
@mtnmann72 7 ай бұрын
@@CarsWithKeav that’s our constant pressure. My area of town is about 100 on my street according to my plumber. I can hose off my house and hit my 3rd floor attic windows. I have a pressure reducer placed for my inside plumbing due to it causing issues with the power flush toilets and refrigerator water line. My city water comes from a mountain reservoir.

Thanks. Did you say 7500rpm? That is too high Keav. Possibly why the finish is hazy, better than before but you'd be better off with Sonax Perfect Finish or S20 Black.

It’s OPM that Ryobi states and it’s a shorter throw. They don’t say exactly, but probably around 10mm or so.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the tutorial. A few tips to have an even better experience and finish. Use a lower speed on your machine, with a short stroke like that Ryobi, 4-5000 OPM is good. Do not use pressure when polishing, it’s hard on you, your machine, creates heat, and slows the cutting action. Dampen your pad before starting. A slightly damp pad helps to prevent dry buffing, allows the pad to better follow the surface, and runs cooler.
