I use my iPad for this running OffShoot Solo app which was hedge. With USB C hub I can have a card reader and two drives which after just dragging and dropping what to where it automatically makes the backups with a report after checking the backups. This works perfectly every time. The only thing that is a shame is OffShoot does not work with my iPhone 15 Pro Max or I would use that for the transfers which of course I could do by adding the HUB to the phone but I would not get the checking and the report. I therefore with footage shot on the iPhone (as I do not use an external SSD due to wanting the port for my microphone and also I do find there is a slight lag as it downloads to the SSD) I use a SSK 2TB USB C Drive with up to 550mb/s read speeds and 520mb/s write speed plugged in to transfer the rushes to. This is also fast enough to edit from if I ever needed to.

Hey Jem thanks for sharing. Do you normally use data wrangling software to handle the transferring of the files and duplication into the already prepped folders or the good old fashioned way of manually dragging and dropping files into folders? Wondering if you have a specific method of data verification for integrity. Good luck on your virtual production coming up!

You can use Offshoot by Hedge (you can keep using it once your license expires), or Offload Manager by Pomfort. These programs will generate MHL or the newer ASC MHL files to allow you to verify data integrity both during backups and later on in the future. Note: If you are backing up to 3+ locations, it is actually faster to backup using one of these programs than it is to drag/drop 3+ times.

Depends but usually I am old school and do everything manually. One drive, then next and keep cards until everything is back at home base.
