Prepare for the MAD KING's Labyrinth Halloween Event!

Shadow of the Mad King, Guild Wars 2's Halloween-themed festival, comes back to the game on October 17 through November 7. Apart from activities such as Jumping Puzzles, Mad King Says, etc., we're also getting access to the most farm-able area in the entire game! The Mad King's Labyrinth!
The Labyrinth will be filled with Halloween-themed enemies who drop Trick or Treat Bags. These bags fetch a nice coin on the Trading Post, or can be opened for some goodies and a chance at a SUPER RARE infusion.
Farming these bags and selling them on the Trading Post will reward you with about 30 gold per hour. Without a limit on how long you can farm, because this is the only farm of its sort that is not capped by the anti-farming mechanic and will therefore not be affected by Diminishing Returns!
In the video I'll explain how you can prepare your character, gear, and build, to start farming the minute the patch goes live!

Awesome guide! I really miss guardian's original staff 1 for this because that was the ultimate tag machine before they changed it to fire orbs instead.

Thanks! Guardian has had some of the best tools throughout the years for farming, only to have them stripped away. I remember the days of the lootstick as well, and then later on lootbook firebrand.

It would be nice if anet dropped discounted equipment slots on the gemstore when the event goes live. I'll prob just use cele gear on my DD.

Short bow theifs are always good, but I'm probably going with a shortbow herald with a speed relic and assassin stance, I have also used a torment and a fireblast Sigel with good results, if the group is a little squishy I'll swap in a heal on crit sigil with my regeneration and life steal.

Sounds like a plan! Playing a build that you like will go a much longer way than what is optimal imo, and Herald is tons of fun tbh.

Yeah, it's an amazing way to level characters as well. Especially if you plan on running the Lab for a couple of hours anyway.

Actually yes! Berserker is somehwat underrated, but its tagging capabilities with longbow are nothing to scoff at! I mocked up a build that should work somewhat, although a quick-zerker should do fine as well. gw2skills.net/editor/?PKgAMFlJwaYJsPGJeUX+tcA-e

im hoping the community will be more willing to run mount trains. last year i went crazy on 2 accounts on a turtle, and it was pretty chill. if others ran the same, it would go crazy! and, with fireball on skyscale with only 2k dps, could go crazy. but we'll see

@@Akimbolappen nope i ran turtle last year on 2 accounts and it went CRAZY! i would run lap after lap and get tags while the main group would go around finishing my kills off pretty much lol. i imagine it would be the same with fireball skyscale

@@hchambers150 but the turtle is sooo fucking slow compared to pretty much everything else in the game 🙈 I'll definitely give it a try though!

@@Akimbolappen nah once it gets up to speed it goes pretty quick, and its definitely better on the side with the spawn doors where the alleys are longer and less corners, but when you figure it out you can do laps pretty easily. i think skyscale will be where its at though just bonkin a fireball on the little groups and moving on

@@hchambers150 well, when you attack with the turtle you reset the speed and you want to be attacking the whole time and every single mob...skyscale fireball does to much damage I think, that will be unfair for other players cause normal mobs die to fast Or is your tactic to only kill door mobs?

I will try that daredevil, but how important is the gear? Do I need exotic or rare is enough? This is going to be my first Halloween in this game.

Rare is more than fine, technically you can go in without gear and a shortbow only. But that might get spicy with random damage you'll take. Enjoy the event, it's really one of a kind!

The relic of speed does not seem to work. I am a herald with constant swiftness buff and have tested the relic of speed in and out of combat and it doesn't do a thing 🙁

I'll see if I can measure the exact speed. But it's supposed to cap you on speed outside of combat and make you about 13% slower than a Super Speed user in combat. The people on the wiki did the math: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Movement_Speed I am working on a video regarding mobility for any and all classes, so I'll dig deeper into this and report back!

If you use all boosts available, so thats candy corn, festival, celebration, kill xp enrichment, OW resting buff (Labyrinth prbably doesnt count as OW actually richt?), 20% training grounds buff, Food and Utility, how many spirit shards can one expect per hour? This is my first halloween on GW2 and on fast farming it said 70 but I kind of can't believe that

I took a closer look at the number on fast farming and their 70+ was for a duration of 1h42 min, which comes down to about 46/hour. It's listed in a rather confusing way, at least to me, as I expected per hour values. I honestly have seen a great variance in spirit shards per hour, gotten 40+ but also much slower groups. It really depends on the commander and the group, I'll continue monitoring the rate over the next few days though.

@@phandrel I think that's also including ALL boosters, including the black lion ones which are only available from chests or statuettes. I've been using everything except them and I seem to get ~35/hr pretty consistently.

@@Wakajce That would be pretty on brand for [fast]. 35 is still extremely solid though, especially compared to the amount we get for some other farms.

why do some groups only do green doors and others do all doors bosses included? whats the difference in loot ?

If bosses take too long, they're technically a detriment to your overall run. If nothing changed from last year, you want to kill them in under 1 min 35 sec. However, each boss grants you a stacking magic find buff. So if you have low magic find, it is worth killing as many bosses as you can. Because Magic Find directly relates to how many ToT Bags you'll be getting. If you already have high (enough) magic find, the bosses become much less valuable and therefore it'd be better to do green doors only.

Yes, it's an excellent profession! Decent burst, enough sustain and stability, one of the best taggers during events, permanent super speed AND quickness.

How much bag space? Im on 18 slots bags atm.

Lab farm is quite lenient in terms of bag space in my experience. Having 18 slot bags without expansions should be enough. Just make sure to leave anything you don't need on you in your bank. A lot of the time, commanders take a very short break in the middle of the map to grab a drink or snack, and at that point a lot of people will spawn portable merchants. So you could sell excess junk to them.

Tagging builds for classes not listed here: - Rifle Bladesworn for Warrior. Go between all of the piercing, explosion and aoe skills between rifle, gunsaber and dragon trigger. - Longbow Dragonhunter for Guardian. Drop a Wall of Reflection in the middle of a mob crowd, pull with F1, spam traps and longbow skills. - Pistol/torch Scourge for Necromancer. Pull with Spectral Grasp, run through a mob crowd with Trail of Anguish, spam wells, sand shade and weapon skills. - Shortbow Renegade for Revenant. Activate Vengeful Hammers in mob crowd, spam F3 and weapon skills. - Staff Tempest for Elementalist. Go between Fire and Air, Overload whenever possible, spam weapon skills, Arcane Brilliance, Flash-Freeze, Feel The Burn, Firestorm, Conjure Fiery Greatsword and its weapon skills.

Solid suggestions! For Warrior, I'd also like to shout out Longbow Berserker, they have quite a bit of AOE and it's pretty responsive with quickness.

Oh, I absolutely understand! There's been a year I farmed the lab for so long that I skipped the next year altogether. There's a lot of fast Halloween activities to do if you want to partake in some festivities. And if not, the rest of Tyria is still there!

In any case, i haven't done any lab farming yet- just login and get the dailies/weekly done and maybe a couple of festival achieves. I don't have any fomo cos the only things i buy from the tp these days are food/util buffs and some mats for legendary crafting.

For the lab, you can literally equip any gear. It really doesn't matter. Especially not on an engineer, as you'll be wielding your flamethrower. You can even keep whatever gear you have now, and if you deal too much damage, unequip your trinkets when farming.
