Prepare Inkscape Files for print

Preparing files for print is a problem everyone faces when using Inkscape. As a broker for print, promotional products and apparel I've had to find ways around the problem. None of the three ways I show you in this video are perfect, but they get the job done and I've never had anyone complain.
In this video you'll also learn some of my workflow that will probably help you be more productive as a designer.

Here's the command he used in the terminal: gs -dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dNOCACHE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sColorConversionStrategy=CMYK -dProcessColorModel=/DeviceCMYK -sOutputFile=output-file_cmyk.eps input-file2.pdf

Some nice information here Logan. I could not find a psd file format however, which is PS preferred. Sadly as authors and publishers we spend a lot of time searching for the correct software for our work to be at its best. I have downloaded so many different softwares but none are the full package. I cannot afford the high priced ones, incidentally, so I must press on towards the goal... thanks again. Appreciate your time and expertise and mostly your truth.

Hello Logan, and Thank you for your video, I have looked at a lot of them and you are very plain and helpful with your information. My problem is I am not a designer I just simple need to send a design that mostly include font to a company to put on a transfer for my a family reunion but do not know what correct size to make my art and what format to put it in. I just need a quick simple way to do this myself. I am working out of Inkscape

Thx for video. I also tried Inkscape on Windows before and the result was also lighter color than if I created it by Adobe Illustrator. Currently, I use Affinity Designer, which is the closest result to AI. Too bad it does not make Linux version. Thx for bringing up the 3rd TIF method.

So true. I have had to use a trial Illustrator to change from rgb to cymk in PS. Undortunately the trial ends abruptly and I am back to square 1. How miserable is that? Thanks for honesty.

So I've read a few places you can use GS to prep for print with CMYK on Linux. But GS is available for Windows as well, so I would expect you could run the see command. Also, method 2 (side1.pdf) looks a shade or 2 darker then the first method you used (side1-cmyk.pdf) in the side by side. So I'm not sure why you thought it wasn't.

In the last method, the option "preserve pure dark" doesn't work?

When you wrote you had never had anyone complain, was it in reference to all 3 methods, or just the last methods? The 2nd method didn't preserve black, but maybe the clients didn't mind?
