Polymer clay pen kits can be very expensive, so why not try it first by preparing an inexpensive alternative?

Congratulations to Brandon! Just a reminder also, if you love the pens you make but don't want to make more, you can always just replace the old ink tubes with new ones.

Well done Brandon. Congrats to the proud mum! An interesting addition to the pliers, those elastic bands! I have some nylon jawed pliers, mainly for straightening wires without marking them when making jewellery. I have found them to be a good investment. If you do any wire work at all when putting jewellery together, I would recommend that you get some. Thanks for telling us which pen you have been successful with. I had planned to cover some as gifts for Christmas (and probably some for charity sales making a change from greetings cards), but expected lots of failures before finding a goodie. Now I know!

I should get some of those pliers really - but craft stuff "needs" never end! LOL xx

Neat video! I use the solid white ones and never had an issue with them either. I guess if in doubt just try one and see if it works okay. :) - Heidi

Congrats! My oldest just graduated from Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May, and she got married 3 weeks later! I'm a tired Mom!! Thanks for sharing this video! I have never sanded my pens. That might help me be more successful!! I've always fought with my silicone pliers, but they slip and don't grab that plastic very well either. Your tips are fantastic!!

Thank you, what a helpful tutorial. You covered aspects that I hadn't even thought about. What do such pens sell for in the UK? I have put polymer handles on crochet hooks, but the market where I live is 3 for $10 and that is very little profit even if I don't count my time.

I think I sold my pens for about £5 each (Google the exchange rate lol).

Congrats to Brandon--when should we expect the first game? Val, I have two quick questions, when you have time. First, how many times can you put your project back into the oven without ruining it? And, how is your mother doing without her little buddy? I think of her because I know how hard it can be.

I part-bake all of the time. I asked advice from Fimo and their labs replied you can do it a few times, then the last bake should be a full one, for the whole length of time on the packet. I suppose I do try not to go too mad but I think 3 times is pretty safe. Game? Ah, not sure. He is thinking about his future and not necessarily in the industry - we shall see. At the moment he is selling shoes in a shoe shop LOL. xx

Congratulations to Brandon on a job well done!!! Hopefully there's a good need for game designers. Video games seem to be the rage these days. But, considering I haven't played a video game since Atari came out in the 70's or 80's, I'm not really up the current video game culture.
