My corgis weren't allowed on the furniture but that didn't stop them from being naughty and sleeping on the couch while we weren't home. We would come home and there would magically be corgi hair all over the couch. -_-

I was a first time corgi pup owner while in college and working. I can say I got lucky with a lot of things and training was literally WHEN EVER I had time to sit down that wasn't HW. They truly do become like a baby and need tons of time. Mine was fairly crazy and I had to have him sent to day care while I worked because He was a lot to care for. He is now 5 years old and a good boy like always. People forget how energetic and intelligent Corgis are.

Great vid and good tips. As a fellow corgi puppy owner (7 1/2 months) I think the only thing I would add that is important is socialization. Corgi's are a pretty social breed but I didn't get mine out often enough early enough and now she's very timid and scared of other dogs. Very important to do it early otherwise you can have problems with the dog being aggressive toward other dogs or skiddish like mine.

I have just put a deposit on a Brindle Cardigan along with my ex-wife (lol still are besties) who is getting her second Corgi and this one is a Blue Merle. I have been around her Pembroke since she was a puppy and absolutely love her, but my ex said I still need to really research and look into behaviors and get to understand as much as I can before embarking (haha) on this new adventure. I have been watching your videos for a little while now and really love how you interact with Gatsby. Hope all is well and thank you for posting.

Actually, you're not supposed to get a dog until they're 7-8 weeks old. Getting a puppy from 3-5 weeks will not mature correctly. That is very rare to get a puppy that young anyways, breeders make sure they're about 7 weeks old before giving them away.

The only thing I can suggest from my experience with my 3 dogs is to try to develop an attitude you want on the dog. Like he said, don't wait either. Because the longer you wait, the more time they can develop the attitude THEY want but it's not always the one YOU want. Like if you want like a nice friendly dog, you might want to associate him/her a lot not only with people but with other dogs.

Love you videos! I am looking for a corgi, but want to make sure I’m going to the right places. How did you find your breeder (who you seem to have a good relationship with) and what would be your advice on how to avoid mass produced puppies?

Me and my mum are on a waiting list at the moment to get a corgi puppy. We really decided on a corgi, because we already have a big Doberman, and we needed to get him a friend since his sister went back to the breeder (health problems) but I wanted a small dog, so we settled on a corgi since they’re robust enough to hold their own with a Doberman (he’s a good dog, so there isn’t a problem, it’s mainly just to be safe) I’m pretty lucky though, because my mum is a dog trainer! So I get the easy way through lol

You can take them outside at 2 months old, that's when they get their Parvo (I think I spelled that right) vaccination

What happens when you have to go to work, to the gym, a night out or even holidays? How much time can a puppy stay alone without being very sad and how safe is it for it? I am a bit concerned of the time commitment.

Nice video and great tips. Can you do a video on the bad things that Gatsby does and how you handle them? It's nice to hear that he chews on your clothes because he's always looking like a well behaved doggie on your videos or he still makes mistakes of peeing on your carpet that you need the cleaning solution. Very interesting to see how you deal with all of those things. Go Gatsby!

Haha, actually pretty much all the bad things he used to do were in the videos. You pretty much just need to catch them in the act or else it's hard to scold them.

Hi there we are thinking of getting a corgi puppy and stumbled across your videos. We were wondering when deciding upon a breeder what were the deciding factors. And if you chose someone who filtered out some of the corgi genetic issues. And why you chose someone out of state vs local. We are also in the bay area. Also if you chose the dog based on certain qualities and or personality. We are hoping for a sweet corgi. Thanks!

+吴昊 You have to teach your corgi puppy that it's not okay to destroy your things. It's the only way for it to learn not to destroy things as an adult. Proper training is an absolute must for dogs and puppies, and it'll help guarantee that you're happy spending time with your dog as it gets older.

I want a dog so bad but my parents don't think I'm responsible. Also I'm 11 so at 7am I leave for school and come at 3:40 so YA that whole time no one is home until I get home. Also my dad isn't really a dog person so YA idk what to do. I want a corgi but my dad said if he HAD to get a dog it would be a dachshund. Any advice for me?

the 12 weeks thing to teach them, what if I get a dog from humane society and they are older than that? dog prolly will be much better if you get them young and train them huh ? after 12 weeks it's much harder to train and correct behavior? what's that evolve white stuff you spray on carpet then sweep it off? to clean stains? seems very effective. if I get a mix breed they prolly won't have get together? those dog get together seems fun.

I can't remember if you mentioned this in another video, but who is Gatsby's breeder? I have been wanting a corgi for the past few years and am now in a good place in my life to be able to care for a dog. I want to look into a few different reputable breeders before I make a decision on one and Gatsby is so adorable and I love his temperament!

+whoisceleste, he mentioned that he didn't wanna reveal the breeder's information because he didn't want people to bug them about it. I think they only had a few puppies or smth like that. I'm pretty sure you can find other breeders elsewhere if you dig deep enough! :D
