One tip which should help you increase push ups...look up. stop looking down. looking down causes you to go further down vice if you look up you hit the 90 degrees faster. if you are looking down to see how far you need to go...look up and to one side because once your arm gets to the 90 you should be going up. your chest does not need to go all the way down.

Late question, but as long as my arms are tucked to my side, I'm hitting 90 degs, and my arms are locking out, they count right? I can do a lot more without going chest to deck.

@@zgmfshinigami I can't include links, so I recommend you search up how to do proper push-ups. Looking up/straight can cause issues, especially when doing them fast. My reply since KZfaq keeps deleting my comment: I double checked and I am correct. You are doing improper push-ups and probably damaging your spine without realizing it. Just because you haven't dealt with any pain yet doesn't mean it's safe. That's ridiculous. There's KZfaq videos from actual DOCTORS showing how to do a proper push-up. For example Dr. Jim Stoppani, Solving Pain With Strength, Dr Joel Seedman, The Source Chiropractic, etc. None of them look up. Go on Google and search, "is looking up while doing push-ups bad?" and you will get tons of results. This should NOT be an argument. No matter waht you say, you are NOT a doctor. Please stick with the facts👍.

Just wanted to let everyone know. They have updated the PT test. They’ve included more options for the exercises needed to pass that you can choose from. I believe it doesn’t go into effect until 2022 Airmen will select from the traditional 1.5-mile run, 1-mile walk or the High Aerobic Multi-shuttle Run (20M HAMR) to meet the cardio requirement. Then select from traditional push-ups or hand release push-ups for one strength component; and from sit-ups, the cross-leg reverse crunch or plank for the other strength component to complete the comprehensive fitness assessment.
