Like many others, driving from North America to South America has always been a dream of mine. the ultimate overland adventure. A few years ago I started asking myself if this is something I would actually do. Well, 4 months ago I decided to stop making excuses for myself made the decision to start seriously preparing myself and my vehicle for the 30,000km+ journey from North to South.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the last night before I start the drive and I find myself thinking all the familiar thoughts I've had making this decision. "What if something happens to the truck? What if something goes wrong? What if my things get stolen? Should I have quit my job to do this? What if I have no money when I come back?". They're all questions I've had for myself, and questions friends and family have had for me. Letting fears and worries and "what if's" stop me from living my life the way I want to is a far bigger fear of mine than some financial losses. We should be more worried about losing the short amount of time we have than money that can be made back. I'd rather try and fail than wonder if it's something that could've happened for me, like too many others.
This video covers a small part of those last 4 months preparing to be on the road full time. It's my attempt at putting something together. Learning to edit, learning to film, and learning to work on my vehicle and become as self reliant as possible. This is a leap of faith.
This is to new beginnings.

That drone work is phenomenal! We are doing the pan American right now in our 1985 HJ75 Land Cruiser it’s cool to see a Prada doing it. Looking forward to seeing more videos. We can definitely relate to the Land Cruiser needing more work than expected. We’ve owned ours for three years now and are rushing to wrap up a few more projects before crossing to Mexico next week.

Hi Max, I found your channel just by chance a couple weeks ago, and I think its incredible, especially the video and editing. I'm thinking of filming on my trip to Costa Rica and I wanted to ask what camera you use, as I'm hoping to get a good value camera, without breaking the bank Happy travels man

Thanks! I use an Olympus OM-D EM1 Mark 2 with some M.Zuiko lenses. It's a fairly expensive setup for what you get, but I had it for years before starting the trip for photography. I think nowadays there's a lot of options that are well priced and smaller/lighter. But in truth, I'm not too up to date with what's out there. Enjoy your Costa Rica trip!

Hey Max! Great video. Why algorithms have not brought your channel to my feed before has me baffled “fri@$’n Google”. By now your miles down the road and see some good video work and cool adventures. I have a “99 Toyota Hilux surf with the 1KZ TE engine and have done a few trips to Death Valley etc. It is inter cooled turbo charged which is prone to head cracking after over heating. I am changing the radiator to an aluminum 3 bank and add a 10 blade fan to the viscous hub in hopes of eliminating the issue. Do you have long range fuel tanks added or only standard fuel? I was thinking of adding a Racor filter as well but wonder how easy it is to find a replacement in Central America. I am sure you could find it in marine chandlers on the coast…I think. Lastly, I noticed in one of your videos that you had a roll of what looked like 030 lockwire. Do you have an aviation back ground as well. Be safe out there, thanks for some great content and info (You ferry x’ing from La Pas to mainland Mexico was very helpful). Cheers!
@goaloneTV
@goaloneTV Жыл бұрын
Hey Kevin! Yeah, I wish I had inter-cooled the truck before leaving, it's almost necessary with the 1KZ, I just threw in an aluminum rad a few days ago actually. No, I only have the standard fuel tank, about 85L on this model, I do have to say, even though I don't think long-range fuel tanks are necessary at all (I don't even carry jerry cans). They would have paid themselves off just because some regions have such massive differences in the cost of diesel. I'm backfilling the series right now to catch up the videos to Honduras, we got turned around at Nicaragua for the RHD ban. Planning on shipping to Columbia from Mexico next month. In the meantime putting on a manual boost controller and a few more small things. And yeah Air Force before and then running RADAR and optics in the maritime patrol aircraft on the West Coast for DFO. The lock wire and speed tape was a gift from the engineers before heading out haha. Take care.
