Winter is coming! We had our first taste of snow at the cabin recently, so it scared us into action. We’ve got a lot to do, and we’re determined not to make the same mistakes as last winter!

Great video as always you two! We're not experts on this paticular topic but wanted to bring it up - we noticed some open pockets on the side of the freshly poured concrete step, and since water expands when it freezes should you worry about filling that in to stop snow getting in there and maybe cracking your new step? Again, can't stress enough that we're not experts on this but the thought crossed out minds so anyone who has experience in winters like this please chime in as well! Also, I think the most important winter supply is something you haven't mentioned - be sure to stock up on hot chocolate ingredients!

Well you are CLEARLY winter beverage experts though! Hot chocolate supply sounds 100% necessary 😍 The concrete advice is definitely something we were thinking about as well. Will probably need to patch that to avoid the cracking like you say 😅

Lovely video per usual! Try not to use salt on your concrete steps and other concrete areas. It will ruin the surface of the concrete. Use something like Calcium Chloride or Magnesium Chloride that you can mix with some sand or something. Salt is fine on the non-concrete places though.

By ruin do you mean it might make it a little rougher? Maybe that might help a bit actually! 🥰

Maybe you could construct a wood bin out of wood (lol) and line it with a tarp, and put a hinge lid on top? A pretty varnish would make it lovely.

One tip is to check the secondhand market for wooden boxes or chests to store firewood indoors, or why not metal boxes from the army? They usually come in varying sizes and can be a cool interior detail. It doesn't have to be a container meant for firewood for it to be functional for it.

Sweden does have a lot of great 2nd hand stores so i recommend checking out such places as well.

Huge fan, love your stuff! So inspiring to see you two do this journey. I haven’t been brave enough to go rural or mountain living though I’d love to. Gg on preparing for winter! #winteriscoming is a real thing. I haven’t been keeping up I’m embarrassed to say but is there an episode that you covered your isp solution or choices made about that? That’s my big obstacle. Maybe starlink but need reliable isp for work. Keep doing the damn thing. Fan since 1.4 Div1 SHD por vida! Be safe, love your life, take no crap.

Back when broadband first came to Sweden in the 90s there was legislation adopted that it needs to be available to all neighbourhoods that needs/requests it. Rural or not. The first areas that got such infrastructure built out on a large scale was actually rural northern Sweden. It isn't that expensive for a neighbourhood/villlage in a rural area get fiber cables dug to their area since it is considered a right for all citizens to have access to it. So i doubt these two had any real problems getting quality internet. Dunno where you live but you might not have it that easy i reckon.. And starlink is quite expensive isn't it?

We got fiber connected the first couple of weeks we were here! We have to order it before we moved in, but it was all pretty straightforward 😊

Hiya! We actually managed to sort proper fiber super quickly 😃 Every little corner of Sweden seems to be pretty well connected from what we can tell!

@LowkeySwedishVlog That's great:) And yeah, definately avilable in every corner these days. My little town (poorest municaplity in Sweden) i grew up in in Västerbotten was apart of one of the first proper broadband infrastructur projects in Europe back in the 90s. They wisely started with connecting the least densely populated parts of the country first since that was the major challenge.

Good luck on the winter prep! :) As for wood storage, one thing I can think of is Knagglig from IKEA, it's like a wooden box, I imagine you can stack them on top of each other and use some newspaper or something at the bottom so it doesn't make a mess. I don't know if it's a good size for firewood storage, they have one that is 46x31x25 cm. 🤔 I think they are pretty cute too! Clas Ohlson also has a "vedkorg svart plåt", not sure if your dog would still be able to eat the wood chips with a basket situation?

I feel like if it's a "team" outfit, it very okay to match with your partner🙃 You all learned so much last year. You've got this! 🌨️🌟🪄 Ps. Someone may have said this, but what about a wooden box with a hinged lid? Could get a decent size and still have it look good?
