The purpose of a shelter is to provide a reasonable amount of comfort and protection from the elements and predators. During the winter fire is essential for warmth and a roof is essential to stay dry and warm inside. Wind, clouds and cool temperatures are indicators of a coming storm. In this video I get ready for a rainy day and I even have a surprise encounter with wild javelinas. This series will be ongoing so be sure to stay tuned for the next video.

My equipment:
Camera: Nikon D7500 and GoPro Hero7 Black
Sound: Zoom H6
Editing: Final Cut Pro X on MacBook Air
Location: Parts Unknown
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
Who films you?
Me. I travel alone, shoot, edit, upload, everything, all alone. On a few occasions I may be accompanied by a friend, but that has been very rare.
Do you stay out there permanently?
No, I usually stay out in a wilderness area for about a week and then hike out and return to a city for editing and uploading. I have family and other obligations to take care of as well.
How many cameras do you use?
Usually I use just one camera. When I have underwater scenes then I also use a GoPro camera. I get different angles by moving the camera around and repeating the action to create a more cinematic viewing experience for the audience.
Where is this place?
In order to protect the integrity of the natural landscape I prefer to be very vague about the locations I use. There are places that I used to visit that were so beautiful and untouched but the consequences of social media brought all kinds of people to visit and sadly some people do not respect nature and have badly damaged these places. Therefore I do not share locations.
Where did you get your sandals?
I first started wearing sandals on outdoor adventures in February 2014. I’m so glad that I did because wearing these Luna Sandals has really helped strengthen my feet. You can see their selection of adventure and running sandals at this link: www.lunasandals.com/?rfsn=102...
(Note: I receive an affiliate commission from any sales derived from clicking on the link above)
Do you workout?
Yes, I workout, but not in a gym. I have some weights that I use and also do a lot of bodyweight exercises. I also run and sometimes swim. I hike frequently to collect wild foods and to shoot these videos so I'm very active all the time.
Are you vegan or vegetarian?
I wish I could maintain my health on a primal diet that does not include animals but unfortunately that did not work well and I ended up with health problems as a result of those attempts. From my studies, observations of nature, and personal experience I have come to believe that the best diet for optimal human health is a primal diet (paleo).
Do you get lonely when you’re alone?
No, I don’t get lonely. I’m actually so busy shooting video, taking photos and doing so many other things like making cordage, cooking, weaving, etc. that I really don’t have time to think about my lonely condition. Sometimes when something profound happens on an adventure I can’t wait to share it with people, but other than that I do not get lonely.
How many languages do you speak?
My first language is English but I also speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese. I also speak very little Russian. I may soon begin learning more languages.
How old are you?
I was born in 1972. At the time of this video I was 49.
Where did you get the music in your videos?
This series is the first one that I am making all the music myself. I recently made a drum and maracas (rumba shaker). I am now using them to create the intro and ending music in my videos, but before in the past I have used royalty free music from several sources including KZfaq. Sometimes I bought the music but usually it was free.

Awesome as always and I don't know about anyone else but, I'd love to see a luxurious Taller Hut with tiled roof and floor and a separate roofed stacked clay brick pantry with huge large vases with food in them and water vases and arts and crafts in the hut. Like, weaving of cloth and creating working sleds and wheel barrels and wood peg systems and making a log into a canoe and eating fish with the Palo Verde beans and mesquite pods and when they come back the Fruits of the desert cactus and so much more. It's so wonderful. I really love the potential of this series and this channel. I can't help but to run my mouth with ideas. I'm just so happy every time I get to enter and be there with Chad in this exciting world.

Chad, another great vid ! I learned a food preservation tip that you might want to try some time. It's called Ever Stew. When you cook something in a pot, like fish or squirrel or veggies and don't eat it all you can keep it from spoiling by boiling it for 10 min. every day in cold weather, and twice a day in hot weather. You just keep adding leftovers too the pot. it will never go bad. it is a good way to extract nutrients from bones, and the flavors of several meals will infuse the mix in the pot.. Once again, really enjoy your video's. I live Vicariously through your efforts, and I'm sure many others do too. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into sharing with us.

I was sitting outside tonight and had a thought just for you Chad. Have you considered crocheting a hat, mitt from the cordage? I was thinking that a simple single stitch would work very well and you can make a hook out of a stick and scrap it to size with a rock. The one thing that I was thinking is that the cordage could be used later down the road. Its very easy to learn how to crochet. It might even help you with nets and other things? let me know what you think.
@ChadZuberAdventures
@ChadZuberAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I've thought about learning to crochet several times. I'm actually making yarn for clothing. I need a lot of yarn and it takes a lot of time to make. I'm open to all ideas regarding crocheting.
@kameljoe21
@kameljoe21 2 жыл бұрын
@@ChadZuberAdventures crochet is very simple. You can do it by hand as well. Some nets and stuff were made this way. Once you do it a few times it does not take long to get used to it. If you stick to the most basic stitches such as the chain, slip and single you can make pretty much anything you want. The hooks are pretty easy to fashion. It does take some time to make the hook and find the right size for your cordage. Though I think this could be done with some sticks, a few stones and a broken edge stone. Mostly it would be sanding and shaping the hook end. Even if the project does not pan out it could be a handy skill for making a net, quick bag, and other things.

@@ChadZuberAdventures The local clay is decent here. All of my pottery is hand built and fired in an aboveground fire, so I still get breakages and spalls, but a good bit of it turns out well. If there was a way for you to teach classes (i know you can’t, because I’ve read where you don’t want to give up your sanctuary and that is perfectly understandable and valid) and take on students, I would love to be an apprentice and learn from you. I’ve not graduated highschool, and I understand that these skills are so important as we near the end of modern life as we know it. I would be thankful to learn. I also know a bit of flintknapping that I’ve kept with me since childhood. Hell, even primitive games (an oxymoron, to be honest) like Far Cry: Primal and Ark: Survival Evolved hold special places in my heart. All in all, I feel a bit of escapism watching what you do. Can’t wait to see how good the “hut” will be at the end. Hut doesn’t seem like a good enough word for what has been planned. It’s looking more homely every video now.

I don't comment much on any video but I just wanted to say that I always like your videos :) I'm always looking forward to see what things you have done in the next episode. It's like the Minecraft let's plays I would watch when I was younger - it makes me want to do what you are doing

Hey Chad, i loved the video even tho it's a short Primal Tendencies format! It just looks too cozy from my bed i don't know how does it really feel to spend the night at the hut in the snowy weather. Greetings from 🇷🇸
