Pick yourself up a smaller generator that you can use to run the block heater on the tractors and the trucks for when it's cold and you don't have electricity readily available

Speaking or "jammin" every farmer I ever worked for forbade you listening to the radio while combining. I was told if you want music listen to what the machine is playing. That way you stay ahead of problems. Not sure but there is a way to loop a hydraulic hose into the system via the remote outlets that will allow the hydraulic fluid to flow through warming it up. Maybe someone else listening will better explain. I am in Ga where we don't have those issues. It was 60 degrees here today. Until you get shelter for the combine I suggest some big heavy duty tarps. They are better than leaving it out in the weather. Good luck with the finish up...

i bin thinking it , but i will now say it Duffy you need to take care ( clean ) your equipment a bit better . i know your running solo , but still a clean machine is already half of the job done , i love you , i love the channel , i love the content ( no homo ) . keep it clean , is half of the work for the machine . 👍

keep that corn you cleaned out of the combine, feed it to your calves, just a bit at a time, 5LB./ day between the 3 of them, you dont have to grind it.

Just so people you don't live in farm country know, there are a lot of farmers who have a million dollar's worth of equipment setting outside all year.

2 of the most important things to keep under a roof in my book are a combine & a grain cart, especially if your wanting to keep the hoppers from rusting out. Thankfully I have enough room for all my equipment except augers & the hay rake.

If you ever come back to New Zealand it would be cool to have a meet n greet or something like that. Think some people here would be very interested to hear your story of where you came from to where you are now and how KZfaq have helped you progress in your farming career. Keep it up!

We did custom harvesting in the 1980s with a lot of John Deere 8820's most of those covers and guards we left off because we wanted to see the belts running in case something happened. Never affected the running of the combine. Also never had the cover on the fan.

Chris, have you thought to use Armor All, or a similar product to extend the life of radiator fan shroud? and other plastics under the hood

That's how we started the 59-TD 6 IH- salamander under it for a few hours, then pull start it with the MF 178 & XT190 Allis- because it didn't have a starter on it! Had a massive snowstorm maybe 70-71, The township hired anybody that had a dozer to open back roads, ran the TD6 3 days straight, day & night, couldn't shut it off, had to tow start it! every so often somebody would bring fuel, switch operators, and off again! And the worse part was the snowmobilers, you'd be backing up, and a dozen snowmobilers come along and drop down in where you were working! Good times! + we had to take care of a few hundred head of cows! Milked 120!

I would like offer 2 suggestions that have worked for me. Paint a yellow stripe on top center of your feederhouse. Paint a matching stripe on the top rail of your cornhead. Makes it easy to line up everytime. Also if you think your hydro is getting worn and weak, stop adding Lo-Vis. Add regular HyGard. It's slightly thicker. I even added some 80-90 to get the last yesr out of my 6620 hydro.

Bruce took the relief valve out of one of the hydrostats on the 8820's when he rebuilt it. I have never seen a combined bark rice and cane tires before😂

We use to have 6620 and we took the muffler off and ran it with a straight pipe. You need to keep an eye on the shaft couplers on the final drive shaft think there are four of them between the final drives and the transmission. The splines in the couplers will strip out and then you can free wheel down a hill front or back words. Not a fun thing to do.

@Heimerviewfarm7 ай бұрын
That's not a good idea, with the rain he got, he would have had gulley washers in every row.
@vicconi37237 ай бұрын
l thought about that but 2023 was a very wet year and what would be better a few rows washed or a rolled tractor? plus he is still able to make money from the bank. I'm sure a farmer would know which l am not.
@Heimerviewfarm7 ай бұрын
Once the soil is washed there's goes the nutrients too. If it's deemed a certain grade of soil you can only plant across ways. Just gotta be smart about hauling corn out.
