Peter Keller, what a feller, Built himself an in ground cellar. Offed his wife and his kid, Then Peter Keller ran and hid. Cops soon swarmed from clues he gave, And Keller's cellar became his grave. On a more solemn note, rip Lynette and Kaylene who seemed like very beautiful souls.

Youve gotta be absolutely rotten and not have an ounce or glint of any decency whatsoever to murder your daughter. Wife obviously, but at least i can somewhat understand action in that his wife didnt come from him. He raised his little girl all the way to what? Young adulthood? I don't have kids but i have a huge soft spot for little girls. My best friend growing up had a daughter at like 16 and i was basically her uncle. Shes a beautiful adult now but ill always remember her as the cutest sweetest little girl lol. I was always playing with her she was my favorite kid ever. Just thee sweetest little cute smart kid ever. Id literally have gone berserk on anyone if i ever found out she was mistreated etc. i cant even imagine how much more the drive to protect her would be if she was my own daughter. There are certain evil people and evil acts i have 0 ability to understand even on a base level (like how husbands murder there own wives etc).

Another channel looked at this case and showed some of the footage from his AND his wife's videos (to earn extra money, his wife had a KZfaq channel of crafts projects and life hacks.) In her videos, she mentioned that he was such a generous man and took care of the family and you could tell that she was genuinely grateful to him. In HIS videos, he called her lazy and a moocher ..it was so heartbreaking to see that she trusted and loved a man who thought of her as dirt.😢

I saw the videos of him and his wife and it's clear the family was walking on eggshells around him. The dog outright hated him and snarled at him, as if it could sense his evil. When the wife talked about meeting him and him wanting to marry her right away, I thought about the kind of love-bombing that narcissists do.

This guy used the "Prepper" idea as an excuse to make a hideout for when he murdered his family.The fact that he killed the dog shows he just wanted an excuse to kill. He was board w/life and didn't want to support his loved ones financially or emotionally.I can't imagine his wife's last thoughts... forget infidelity, this is truly the ultimate betrayal. What a pathetic excuse for a man. I hope his victims are resting in peace. This was a sad one😢

I’ve heard you cover a lot of cases involving people who murdered their spouses and children. There are normally warning signs, but in this one, he managed to not give any concrete ones. Very tragic. He killed the two people who helped him achieve his dream of building a bunker. He could have worked towards retirement, and then lived in the bunker without a care in the world. There was no need to do something so horrific and drastic.

Greetings Dr. Grande, longtime subscriber here. Forgive my fixation on such minutiae, but I notice you now have eight cacti on your set, whereas in previous videos, there were seven. I’m just curious if there’s any symbolic reason for this, or if it’s merely an aesthetic choice. I suspect the latter. Thanks for your fascinating presentations. As always, I appreciate your calm, easygoing pacing, as well as your comforting voice. Upon watching your latest uploads, I await with pleasure, your exquisitely dry joke. When I’m lucky, you’ll employ lovely little alliterations, which I long for, like a lavish latte. This video is no exception. To wit: 15:22 - 15:52. This one must be your best yet, and that’s saying something! I’m fully floored at the frequency of your fancy flourishes here, for sure! Thanks again for taking the time to add these elements, just for our amusement! Great stuff. Cheers. x

Here’s my theory, just an opinion: Peter as a child fantasized about building a forest fort in which he could be safe- possibly to avoid terrible childhood abuse, something he also alluded to. I suppose the thing(s) that happened to him completely broke him and that broken thing lived in him, stunting his ability to develop normally and achieving empathy. His broken mindset prompted him, as he approached 40, to return to the only thing that ever made sense to him. Something which he obsessed over as a helpless child living in constant danger, and never receiving empathy himself. His psyche was so damaged, that he never could rise above it, but instead he relied on maintaining a facade of normalcy which his personality created for him to survive in the world. Survive he did, but always as a sad empty shell with a broken child inside. When midlife approached he realized he could no longer continue and as he put it “could no longer fight it” and decided to do the only thing that made sense to him. He was so empty and dead it cannot be termed narcissistic, because narcissism is a form of self-preservation. He did not feel one iota of self-entitlement, because he despised himself and gave into it. He thought carefully and long about what to do with his loved ones and killed them as painlessly as possible. Perhaps he thought it was merciful. He took good care of them and couldn’t conceive of them continuing happily without him. His world view was such that they too were just hapless victims of being alive, as he was… they just didn’t know it, as he did. His self-recordings and his joyless nihilism are poignant and disturbing. I don’t think he fits the description of “prepper”. It’s a testament to how someone can be so broken on the inside while growing up that the inner resources required to grow mentally are irreparable. I wish someone would delve into his past. It’s a fascinating look at human nature. I feel that Dr. Grande didn’t do this story justice.

He was having delusions and was psychotic. A person who is psychotic has lost touch with reality. He thought he was doing his family a favor and so he wouldn’t have to worry about them because he was the one who was providing for the family. This is not uncommon in murder suicides. Keller was delusional and wanted to live in an underground bunker since he was a teenager. I actually watched the entire video made by Keller. It’s pretty chilling. He had to work up the idea of “accepting what needed to be done.”

Dr. Grande, I think you have overlooked another group of preppers...the graduates of the school of hard knocks. There are people who are considered preppers who prep because they have experienced hard times and hunger and try to safeguard against it for any future hard times. Rather than being driven by fantasy, it is driven from reality. These people are often ones whose needs have been ignored or downplayed. They may suffer from PTSD and not have proper help, or may not be able to attain the help they need. General mental health facilities don't have the same level of care for PTSD as the military, and the military doesn't even have the greatest care. These people live on the fringes of society and instead of getting the help they need, they are repeatedly turned down and rejected by society. Many have suffered on the fringes from childhood, consistently being failed by the system, and simply surviving the best they can. Maybe this is the same introverted group you referenced, and if so, you grossly misunderstand the interworking of their minds. This group has been disenfranchised and no longer believes that society has a place for them because they have been failed repeatedly. We live in a society that says that true poverty doesn't exist in America, but it does, and this group has felt the sting of living in that true poverty while their reality is being denied. It's like they are being gaslit by society. How can they not become distrustful and jaded? Please consider this group as well. They are the forgotten ones until their mere act of trying to survive puts them on the wrong side of the law, (mundane things that shouldn't even be illegal such as dumpster diving and camping in unauthorized areas) and they come in all colors, ages, and sexes. If the government isn't going to help them, then they need to leave them alone for simply trying to survive.
@kaybee8205
@kaybee8205 7 ай бұрын
Hey, let's also not forget the people who happen to live in extremely rural areas prone to natural disasters. In my 20 years of living way out here, I've experienced multiple ice storms, snow storms, tornados, floods, and, of course, the lock down. There are times when it's not possible to get to town, or if you get there there's nothing there, sometimes for weeks. When the power goes down, we, out here, are the electric company's last priority. And if we have no power, we have no water. One winter, the roads were sheets of ice for weeks, no water, no power. They sent the national guard but they were busy helping people in the towns, they couldn't probably make it out here even if they tried. I remember breaking ice in the driveway to melt for water to make baby bottles and when there was absolutely nothing left to drink except driveway ice and hard liquor. Some of us stock up on things because it's stupid not to. Some of us learn survival skills because we've seen what a few weeks without power can do, and unexpected long-term power outages are something we must consider.

I’ve watched a few vids on this guy but I missed some of the new info I heard here (like that he started construction of the bunker in 2004). It was certainly disturbing to see him apparently talk himself into killing his wife and daughter before reaching that stage of acceptance. I wondered why he didn’t just disappear, leave them behind, but if they knew as much as you mentioned here, there was no way he would let them risk his future, so now that makes sense too.
@greenbrain8725

I don’t think he cared about himself or his future. He gave into nihilism, despised himself, and thought his wife and daughter were hapless victims of being alive, as he was… they just didn’t realize it, as he did. He killed them mercifully (in his mind). His childhood fantasy of building a forest fort speaks of trying to get away from horriffic child abuse, something he alluded to. As he approached middle age he knew the only thing that would make him feel “alive” albeit temporarily, was to go back to that childhood impulse and build a bunker where he could feel safe. My theory, just an opinion.

"Camp Keller" a symbol of fear, irreality and vulnerability😁 The famous Viennese psychoanalyst A. Adler suggested that the "birth trauma" is never overcome, even when individuals reach the age of maturity (roughly 21+). It's clear that most adults fail to come to terms with the fact of "having been born." Birthing is painful for all parties and while often celebrated it's actually viewed by many, mostly subconsciously, as a misfortune. This is evident when young people around the age of 15 say things like "I wish I had never been born" or, a variation, "I never asked to be born." It should be clear to anyone that the "bunker" is symbolically a return to the "womb." The bunker represents self-contained and undisturbed existence where there is no anxiety and no apprehension. We can say that being an adult in our society means an acceptance of risk, anxiety, and living with vulnerability. As I understand the situation, there are basically two options given our common predicament: retreat or surrender. Retreat is the avenue known as "psychosis." This is a rejection of reality and a preference for one's own wishes and desires. Or there is another option. This option I call "love"- love in the sense of self-surrender, sacrifice, ridding oneself of one's self and living for others. Through acts of self-sacrifice we realize why we were created in the first place: to share the love that God has for all of us. Thank you.

I would definitely be a prepper if I could afford to be one. However I also definitely don't fit the role of a typical prepper. I despise conspiracy theorists and I have zero issues with authority. I have listened to a lot of post apocalyptic audio books. Whether its fantasy like zombies, or real threats like post global nuclear apocalypse, or EMP disasters, or gamma burst, one thing I believe that most of these books get right. Its that if a true disaster ever happens, things are going to get bad, really quick. Societal infrastructure is going to collapse rapidly. Just look at the beginning of the coronavirus. People rushing out and buying all the toilet paper and sanitizer that they could buy. Now imagine what would happen in a truly bad incident like a nuclear war. Or an asteroid hitting the planet, or a super volcano erupting. Imagine the panic then. And these things happening are not as far fetch as many would like to believe. We could easily have another pandemic with something far deadlier than covid. Nuclear war with Russia or N Korea or even China, are real possibilities. Are they likely to happen? Probably not. But if i had the money, I damn sure would want to be prepared if it ever does. One other thing those books get right, if you are trying to prepare AFTER the sh*t has already hit the fan, then you're probably as good as dead.
