At 67 I can still smell citronella from my childhood growing up in southern Louisiana. Haven't used it for years since moving to Illinois in 85.

And all this time i thought Citronella worked because skeeters hate the smell. But you taught me how it really works. Citronella covers up our smell so the blood suckers can't find us. Learned something new!

We’re prepping for hurricane Beryl. Just south of Houston,tx. We all got gas (topped off 3 cars and the generator). Strapping everything down and moving everything into the garage. We’re good bc we’re prepared. I have heard horror stories on my communities fb page about lines 6 deep at the gas pumps. Not to mention the grocery lines are insane. In fact, a friend was checking out and the couple behind her asked if it was a Christmas in July sale. These 20 something’s did not know a storm was coming and was concerned if the movie tickets they bought for tonight would still be able to go. 😮

Hey AG you can now buy air filters now that you can take out and take a water hose to and clean them and let dry and put them back in!! Look into it. You won't have to replace them for a long time

Matches put in a sealed container. I use ziploc bag inside plastic coffee can. Thank you for the informative video.

Batteries are always good to have, especially with an upcoming storm. Get whatever batteries your flashlights, lantern, etc. use.

Diatomaceous earth food grade. It's crushed up seashells. Must be food grade it's safe around pets and children. It's worth looking into.

Only rudimentary you are correct. They are not normal sea shells. They are diatomaceous, which are near microscopic sea shells.

The sticky traps catch flying bugs too. I brought bananas home and 24 hrs later there were fruit flies. The sticky trap caught most of them before the day was done. I was at Dollar Tree and found an led work light for $1.25. this one has 100 watt equivalent lamp. It lit the whole room up when I tried it. It's better than the lanterns.

Will buy more a/c filters. Wildfire evacuation this week. Air conditioner filters that are graded to filter smoke are so important. 111° and smokey our a/c is working hard. Need extra kitty litter and a box for indoor cat. Thanks Alaska Granny. 😊

Yesterday, the high temp reached 120"F here in southern Nevada. So we have been limiting outdoor time, like we usually do during summer, to the first two hours after sunrise or sometime after sunset. We stay well stocked at home so only need to do the occasional brief shopping trip for fresh fruit, salad greens or similar fresh produce. Any durable goods we run short of I can order from Amazon for direct delivery to my front door. We have stockpiled enough toiletries and laundry detergent that we can wait until cooler weather late autumn to go on a shopping trip for those items.

I keep making your recipe where you made gravy with a packet and mixed in canned beef and noodles. Since I can, I make the noodles separate and put some dry parsley into the gravy. I wanted you know that the taste is great and my kids always get seconds. Thanks for the recipe.

I've read that bugs will be abundant after a nuclear event. I like those sticky roach traps! Remember the sticky tapes that people used to hang on their porches? I am going to try to look for those too. Thanks for the reminders, you are always THINKING!!!

When putting an air filter in a air handler the area of the filter(s) should be considered before installing a dense or HEPA type filter that will starve return air. Sometimes a cheaper filter that gives you more airflow is the better choice. Many air handler filter sections are laid out with 2 filters in an 'A' configuration for this reason.

We live in Vermont dairy country, and although it doesn’t seem like we get a lot of flies I was shocked to see how many were stuck to the fly paper my husband put up. So gross!!! Even though we haves screens the nasties find their way in. Certainly not a pretty sight, but it sure was an eye opener.

Good idea about the filters. At one point, I was in a rental and paid out of my own pocket to have the furnace and ducts cleaned and I got a great deal on a washable electrostatic filter. All you have to do is wash it out with soap and water, let it dry and put it back. Easy and thrifty in the long run. I don't rent that house anymore and the landlord never reimbursed me or thanked me. Too bad. The citronella candle looks like you could use it for a fondue burner? Just a thought. I wonder if those bug prisons would work on clothing moths...fruit flies?
