Yup, I remember when the Covid thing started and places were shutdown, I went out and purchased Sta-bil and threw it in my tank because I didn’t want the water separating from the E10 fuel.

I've used that for the last 40 years . When I get my lawnmower gas I put some in the jug. I put a capful in every tank of gas I run thru my roadking. Dump a little in my cars and trucks also. I believe in it.

Marine boat mechanics deal with skunky fuel constantly. Water + ethanol gas = bad things. Stabil is the gold standard. Every year in lawn tractor and snowblower. Getting rid of stale gas is like dealing with radioactive waste.

I've used just a little bit of 2 stroke oil in my tanks and sloshing it all around to coat the metal with the oil. It doesn't hurt anything and mixes with the gas when you are ready to install it. If anything it's beneficial for a new engine as a top end lubricant for breaking it in. And you won't have to worry about gasoline going bad nor anything sparking near it when it's stored indoors nor any fumes which could explode. Basically any type of 2 stroke oil a couple cap fulls is all it takes and it will never develop any rust. The whole purpose of fogging a 2 stroke at the end of a season in the north is to coat everything internally with a heavier layer of oil to protect your engine parts from condensation over the winter or temp swings. This is the best and safest way to go, and you aren't stuck with fuel which may or may not be usable by the time your ready to run the engine and have to deal with the process of getting rid of the old gas. Just an FYI from an old timer. 😉👍

Love the channel. Great attention to detail. I build pressure vessels for a living. Any time we store a vessel we purge it with nitrogen. It might be a good alternative since service centers usually carry nitrogen for tires.

Where I live there are no cars to buy that are running or affordable so I buy broken cars and piece them together with parts from other 30 yr old broken cars. I have owned 5 and Im working on my third restoration now, I started it when I retired. All my cars are hard tops 7 mgte, r154, I guess if your gonna be committed to doing something try to make it worth your time. I order parts from sellers all over the world but because of my location freight kills a lot my working capital but thats the cost of living on Maui. Keep up the good work !

Great to know that my family and I have been storing our cars properly for years. We use pretty much the same process! You really can't go wrong with STA-BIL. It's pretty amazing stuff. I realized just now that we never put STA-BIL in our PT Cruisers, but the 2.4L motors in those things are bulletproof. They'll run no matter what happens to them. Great job as always and uh.. TANKS a lot for the great video! *badum tish*

@mikeball9715
@mikeball9715 Жыл бұрын
@@FayeHadley Well I can help with that! Pass this on to him please! We have 13 PT Cruisers so we know the cars well LOL. My first guess is the radiator. They are famous for plugging up. Second guess is the water neck. They are plastic and can get warped. While you're at it the factory thermostat is too low. Make sure a 180c is put in. Third guess is the waterpump. Be really careful when buying a new one because websites like Rock Auto have the part numbers wrong. The water pumps are different for N/A and Turbo cars. If you put a N/A waterpump in a Turbo car it will overheat.

Its all still available because Toyota used those parts for a wide variety of vehicles. The Japanese brands truly believe in parts standardization. US and European manufacturers tend to redesign stuff to fit the need of the moment. Which also results parts scarcity. So in 100 years, there will still be Toyotas on the road, but only current classic American cars will still be on the roads.

Great. I’ve refreshed a Toyota diesel fuel tank and was amazed how well designed it was. The Supra ones seem to share many of the same parts and features including the pickup well, seals, vents and senders etc like for like. regardless of fuel type. I’d have done a sanity check of the pickup unit and installed a new plastic filter basket on that, plus a test of the gauge sender unit and warning light circuitry before using the new gaskets, but maybe you’ve already done this. I see you’re using the silicone caps / bungs things. I saw ‘Timmy the Toolman’ (kzfaq.info) using these and got a comprehensive set (~80 pieces) for my Toyota project and they are really, really great. While I’ve nothing against your approach to put petrol and storage solution in but I wonder if you’d have been better using a zero ethanol fuel? Here, you can get this for use in small agriculture / plant petrol engines that are used infrequently. It’s more expensive that regular petrol but it’s cost effective when compared to servicing small engines due to ethanol content. A cheap option for storing fuel tanks is to add just a few cups of diesel and swill this about well. Over time it’ll build up a vapour in the tank that’s very effective against corrosion plus when you come to start the car after rebuild you can do this from a separate supply tank with the fuel returning to the main, or you can drain the small amount of diesel in lots of ways. A small amount of diesel in petrol won’t make any difference. Our road tankers carry one fuel then the other and are not cleaned thoroughly when changing over. Just my 2p. Great to see your work and enthusiasm!
