You are the first person that I’ve ever followed along with their recipe and made the pecan sticky buns. My husband asked me to make them for him for a Christmas present. I finally had time to get it done yesterday. I got up at 4:30 in the morning to make them and when he got up for the day and came into the kitchen I was standing with a platter of pecans sticky buns. My husband was overjoyed.They were so delicious. I love preppy kitchen and I will be trying other recipes. You are very good at what you do. So happy I discovered you

Only thing you forgot to mention is how to clean the pan. Fill it with water and place it in a low oven for 30 minutes. The sugar will dissolve and you can wash it as normal. Thanks for the recipe!

Ingredients Dough: ▢1 cup warm milk 110°F (240mL) ▢1 1/4 ounce package active dry yeast ( 2 + 1/2 tsp) ▢1/2 cup sugar (100g) ▢6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted plus more for the pan (85g) ▢1 egg ▢2 yolks ▢1 teaspoon salt ▢1 tsp vanilla (5ml) ▢4 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting counter (480g) Topping: ▢3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar (150g) ▢½ cup unsalted butter (113g) ▢¼ cup honey (60ml) ▢½ tsp salt ▢1 1/2 cups 6 ounces coarsely chopped pecans Filling: ▢1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar (100g) ▢2 tsp ground cinnamon ▢4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted (70g)  Instructions Warm the milk to 110°F then mix in half the sugar and the yeast. Cover and set aside for 5-7 minutes or until foaming. While the yeast wakes up, melt butter in a bowl then whisk in the egg, yolks, yanilla, and remaining sugar then set aside. Add the both mixtures to the bowl of your stand mixer and whisk together then add half the flour and mix until combined. Add the remaining flour and mix on medium speed using a dough hook for about 5 minutes or until the dough comes together. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead until it’s smooth and elastic. Dough should bounce back when pressed. This is a sticky dough but you can add a bit of flour if it seems wet. Place dough in a lightly buttered bowl then cover with plastic and place in a warm place to rise. Dough will take about two hours to double in size. While the dough rises, make the topping by combining the brown sugar, honey, butter and salt in a small pot. Place over low heat and stir until butter and sugar have melted. Pour into a 9x13 pan that you’ve lightly buttered and top with roughly chopped pecans then set aside. Preheat oven to 375°F. Once the dough has risen transfer it onto a floured surface (I like to use a pastry mat) then gently spread it out into a rectangular shape that’s roughly 12x18 inches. Roll as needed to spread and level the dough.  In a medium bowl combine brown sugar, and cinnamon then whisk together. Brush with 4 tbsp melted butter then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar evenly over the top. You can use your hand to smooth the sugar out into an even layer if needed. Gently roll the long edge of the dough into a tight roll. Cut into 12-13 even pieces then place into your prepared baking dish. See notes for cutting tips. Bake for about 35 minutes or until golden. Cover with foil after 15 minutes to prevent the tops from taking on too much color.  Allow to cool for a few minutes then run a knife along the edge and invert onto a serving dish and serve warm. Notes The zest of an orange in the dough adds a nice depth of flavor. You can use either dark or light brown sugar for the filling and topping. If you don't have pecan walnuts will also work. Use floss to cut the dough into buns for clean edges. Make sure to butter both the bowl the dough rises in and the baking dish the buns bake in to stop them sticking. Make the caramel sauce while the dough rises to save time. It can also be made in advance and placed in the fridge. After baking for 15 minutes cover them with foil to stop the buns from browning too much. Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Why not serve them with a dollop of whipped cream for an over the top indulgent treat. These are perfect serve for breakfast, as a snack, or dessert.

@@matthewrick Lol!! Well of course he shares it with his beautiful family && probably the production crew!! He also does work out, maybe not crazy but enough to stay in shape. That's based on some videos Ive seen where he says he is getting an arm " workout" by mixing. 😉

The name is spot on! The PERFECT sticky bun! They are divine! I know my husband is going to love these. He has quite the sweet tooth. I’m going to bake up some bacon to go with them and supper is done. Yep, supper! I can’t thank you enough for sharing your time and talent. Everything I’ve made of yours…taco soup, chicken stew (YUM!) cakes, cookies and several more… is sooooo delicious.

Years ago I worked in a buffet restaurant and one job that I loved doing each day was making the cinnamon rolls with raisins and a simple glaze along with the sticky rolls. Here's what we did. I can't believe I remember this after 45 years. I made the dough similar to yours but it was more firm. Then I made a similar brown sugar and butter mixture except i used molasses instead of honey or syrup. The other big difference is I placed all of ingredients in a mixer and whipped it till the mixture was light and fluffy, like you would do for a cookie dough. Of course there was no eggs. This mixture, which we called smear, was stored in plastic bins till needed. When needed it I would smear about 1/4 inch thick on sheet pans and then place the cut rolls on to the mixture. After baking I flipped the rolls onto a clean pan. Right after flipping them I would run a large metal spatula between the rolls to allow the smear, now a caramel sauce, to drip over the sides of the rolls We never placed nuts in the smear. Not sure why. The way most employees ate them was to tear the roll apart and place whipped butter on the bun. So rich and good. I sometime would pancakes or French toast and put a scoop of the smear on top.

Fantastic genes for sure. He's probably an ectomorph, they have the highest tolerance to sugar. Or maybe a mesomorph, they can handle/maintain their weight fairly easily too.

This looks amazing! I would definitely add cardamom to the dough itself, preferably in the butter when it’s warm and infuse it for a few minutes. Made your cream cheese cookies today. Have you ever made them with any other flavours? I’m thinking of adding lemon zest and/or lemon extract next time 😋

Anytime I use cinnamon in a recipe, I always add the barest hint of cloves, nutmeg, cardamom and ginger. Not a lot. Less than a pinch actually. Cinnamon is still the dominant flavor. I find the extra spices add so much extra depth to yhe cinnamon.

I made my mother these sticky buns for her 91st birthday! She wanted something different . All I can say is WOW! She loved them so much she wanted them again, for no particular reason except "why not?" Somehow I misplaced the handwritten recipe so I came back to watch you make them again. I just made a batch of these Sticky Buns, which turned out like puffy clouds of gooey goodness. As a personal preference, I doubled the filling and added a cup of raisins (warmed in water and drained). Just perfect!

So much fun to make. The dough is fabulous!! There are interesting differences between the cinnamon bun and sticky bun dough. The sticky bun dough rose faster than the cinnamon bun dough. I am so happy to have found all of these great recipes. I am a total fan.

Wow! I was a bit scared when dealing with the honey/sugar topping since I usually have bad luck when dealing with sugars (I usually burn them) But this recipe is fool proof! When I make carrot cake I add a teaspoon of 5 spice powder along with the cinnamon, it would work with this too. It adds a little bit of something, just makes it extra special.

Same recipe but I added freshy ground cardamom to the dough and to the cinnamon filling...I also used maple syrup instead the honey...it was the best sticky buns I made. Thank you for the recipe!!!

I've come back to say, I've followed this recipe numerous times and it's my favorite sticky bun recipe. In fact, I like it better for his cinnamon rolls recipe than his cinnamon roll recipe. It really is the perfect sweet roll dough!

I've always wanted to make something like this but with bacon and maple instead. They have it at our state fair and I've been wanting to recreate it!

In Pittsburgh for year when I was working for years in the winters, I'd stop at WhiteTowel restuarant, to enjoy hot coffee and pecanroll.

I misheard the measurement for flour and thought John had said 400 grams. The result was a very wet and sticky dough so I started adding more flour but I was trying to leave the dough a little loose so I added more until I though it was right. it wasn't. it was still very loose and the sticky buns were saggy when I rolled them up. I checked the Internet and realized that one cup of flour is 120 grams (not 100). Second batch was better but this time I think I was too high in flour content. I finally got back to watching the video. I started with 480 grams of flour and it was still sticky. I added 20 grams more and I think it's right. It's a little sticky but, when I pull my finger away, it forms a ring of dough but the center of the ring is clean-ish. I *might* back this off to 10 grams to see what the results are but I think my magic number (for atmospheric conditions, humidity, moisture content and quality of my flour) is 500 grams. By the way, even with my mistakes, everyone is raving about these.

(롬1:26~27) •사람들이 하나님을 인정하기 싫어하으로, 하나님께서는 사람들을 자리에 내버려두셔서, 해서는 안 될 일을 하도록 놓아두셨습니다. 사람들은 온갖 과 로 가득 차 있으며, 로 가득 차 있으며, 수군거리는 자요, 중상하는 자요, 하나님을 미워하는 자요,불손한 자요, 오만한 자요, 자랑하는 자요, 악을 꾸미는 모략꾼이요, 부모를 거역하는 자요, 우매한 자요,신의가 없는 자요, 무정한 자요, 무자비한 자 입니다. (롬1:28~31) •그들은, 이와같은 일을 하는 자들은 죽어야 마땅하다는 하나님의 를 알면서도, 자기들만 이런 일을 하는 것이 아니라, 이런일을 저지는 사람을 두둔하기까지 합니다. (롬1:32) •하나님의 심판이 이런 일을 하나 사람들에게 내린다는 것을 우리는 압니다. 하나님께서는 각 사람에게 그가 한 대로입니다. 참으면서 선한일을 하여 영광과 존귀와 불멸의 것을 구하는 사람에게는 을 주시고, 이기심에 사로잡혀서 진리를 거스르고 불의를 따르는 사람에게는 를 쏟으실 것입니다. 하나님께서는 사람을 대하시기 때문입니다.(롬2:1~11) • 그리하면 너희에게 주실것이요, 그리하면 찾아낼 것이요, 그리하면 너희에게 열릴것이니 구하는이 마다 받을것이요 찾는이는이요 두드리는 이에게는 열릴것 이니라.(마7:7~8) •부모가 자식을 가엾게 여기듯이, 주님께서는 주님을 두려워하는 사람을 가엾게 여기신다. 주님께서는 우리가 어떻게 창조 되었음을 알고 계시기 때문이며, 우리가 한갓 임을 아시기 때문이다.(시103:13~14) •이제 주님께로 주님께서 우리를 찢으셨으나 다시 싸매어 주시고, 우리에게 상처를 내셨으나 다시 아물게 하신다. 이틀 뒤에 우리를 다시 살려 주시고, 사흘 만에 우리를 이니, 우리가 주님 앞에서 살 것이다. 애써 주님을 알자. 새벽마다 여명이 오듯이 주님께서도 그처럼 어김없이 오시고, 해마다 쏟아지는 가을비처럼 오시고, 땅을 적시는 봄비처럼 오신다.(호6:1-3‬‬) •하나님이 우리를 사랑하시는 사랑을 우리가 알고 믿었노니 하나님은 이시라. 사랑안에 거하는자는 하나님안에 거하고 하나님도 그 안에 거하시느니라. 이로써 사랑이 우리에게 온전히 이룬것은 우리로 심판날에 을 가지게 하려함이니, 주의 어떠하심과 같이 우리도 세상에서 그러하니라. Delicious! Came out so light and fluffy! These are perfect and really shouldn't have anything added but, if you truly must, can add cacao... that's the only thing acceptable to have in sticky buns :)
