2021 UPDATE: !!! ORIGINAL PART 1 / PART 2 HERO FREDDY KRUEGER GLOVE OFFICIALLY AUTHENTICATED !!!
I just received the green light to officially announce that both Lou Carlucci and Jim Doyle have both examined, independently from one another, the only 'hero glove' from the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street. This glove was previously owned by Mike Becker but he sold it in 2019. Separate meetings with Lou and Jim were arranged and they have both confirmed its authenticity. I have videos and photos of the authentication from both Lou and Jim but I only have permission to release photos of Jim Doyle during his moment examining the glove. Both Lou and Jim stated that they are 100% certain that it is indeed the sole hero glove built for the first Nightmare on Elm Street film in 1984.
May this be the end to all debate about its authenticity and Robert's claim that his agent is in possession of the original glove.
So, let it be known that it is now personally confirmed by both Lou Carlucci and Jim Doyle and it has been recorded both in photos/videos and they have both signed a certificate of its authenticity.
The original hero glove now sits on display at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA.
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Well, here it is. "The Moment" we were waiting for. Mike Becker presented the one true original hero glove to Robert Englund at the 2011 Flashback Weekend in Chicago, IL. Robert didn't fully realize what it was despite us telling him it's the "original" from Nightmare 1 and 2. He responded with "there were 3 or 4 for each film". But we know there was only one hero for the first and second films. Hopefully we can show more stuff to Robert to show him that it is THE glove. But they were moving people through the line pretty quickly so we were strapped for time.

I've met Robert 4 times now. The guy is wonderfully polite, sweet and charming. And always enthusiatic! What I took from this video is somehow, assertively, Robert didn't quite 'get' that this is the HERO version of the glove. Dude, you need to speak up, lol! 'No, Robert, this is THE HERO glove, the ORIGINAL. This is the real deal. I just wanted you to see it again!' He'd have flipped, I reckon! Then wondered where you got it - seeing as it was stolen! LOL! Robert would have cared more. I just think it didn't go over that this was the ORIGINAL glove!

This is my speculation, but here it is... It isn't the real glove. Robert gets hammered every time with people that claim to have it. I have seen one person who made high end replicas. Ones that minic every detail. Granted they take a long time to make but were made by someone that loved to do it and took it as a challenge like building a model boat. If it was the glove, the original leather would be with it. Either Robert has it, someone else does and will never let it out, or it was destroyed/lost. I really, really doubt it is the real one. And Robert appeared to feel the same with his lack of emotional attachment.

Robert is a very cool dude. He just does these things often. I kept reading the comments prior to watching the video and I see "he seems so disinterested." Really? He stopped to talk about it, was trying his best to sign it in a place that he could even though I personally think Robert's signature should be on the outside of the glove (don't be so pretentious, his name is worth more than that glove that there were multiples copies of). And then he even tried putting it on and everything. He could have just tried his best to sign, made no comment on it and just gave it back.

Yeah, I understand. I've said it a hundred times - talking to a celebrity or actor at a convention is awkward as Hell. You have maybe 60 seconds, or less, to say everything you've been wanting to say for however many years, but you also don't want to come off as just another fanboy. It can't be helped, I guess, with the lines to meet them, but 9 out of 10 times you always end up feeling underwhelmed. Robert is very nice though and tries to entertain more than most.

Congratulations Mark. Maybe Robert didn't really feel good that day? Maybe, Robert is sick of talking about A Nightmare On Elm Street? I have no idea never met the man. I did meet Davey Allison February of 1992 right before he won the Daytona 500. I was seven years old and I didn't bring up racing to him. Because Davey took the time out to sign autographs for his fans. That was at Church Street Station in Orlando Florida. Davey died July of 1993. I still have the almost 30 year old poster he signed for me. And two Polaroid pictures one of me and him and one by himself. Such a nice guy and a tough SOB behind the steering wheel.

@mpetrie
@mpetrie 7 жыл бұрын
Entertainment Wizard Robert is either making up the story or is simply mistaken about what glove his agent has. Robert doesn't know as much as he thinks he does. I had him sign a rare photo of himself in Part 1 makeup and he said it was from nightmare 3. The photo came from Lou Carlucci's personal photos from 1984. Lou has also confirmed to Mike that it is in fact the original Hero glove.
@entertainmentwizard2703
@entertainmentwizard2703 7 жыл бұрын
Well Robert told me the glove he used from 1 and 2 he took from the set after part 2 and gave it to his agent but yes there could have been a secondary glove but there is also the possibility that Lou Carlucci's is mixing things up, the only way to know for sure is to get the glove you guy's have and get the one Robert has and take them to the designer and have him look at both to determine which or if both gloves are from the original film!
@mpetrie
@mpetrie 7 жыл бұрын
Entertainment Wizard The fact that no photos exist of this alleged prop that Robert took makes me question if it really exists. But Lou put some identifiers on the original glove that only he would know about and it would be impossible for an artist to put them there since they do not know about them. Lou never said what they were, but when Mike sent the photos of the glove to Lou, he said that the identifiers are there. There's no way that it's not the original Hero that Lou built in 1984. Only one Hero glove was made. I have over four hundred high res photos of the glove that Mike has and every single detail is there. The tiniest marking, imperfection in the metal, etc are present and they match perfectly to the original Hero glove. I should do a more in depth video showing these comparisons. It's absolutely the original Hero. No doubt.

If if were me, and it was deemed to be the original, I would have showed up and given it to him. I personally think that is the “classy” thing to do. IMO, it should be with the man who really brought the character to life. If not him, then maybe Wes Craven RIP or Bob Shaye or Heather Langenkamp or somebody who is important to the franchise. In the process, if you offered it to him and he knew where the original went, he might say, “I’m flattered, but this is not the original. I have that one. A "hero" prop is a filmmaker's term to refer to an item in a movie that if of the highest detail and functionality. Usually the most detailed props that are meant to be seen up close on screen. Say, for example, a machete being used by Jason Voorhees. The fully metal and sharp machete would be a 'hero' machete. Where as a plastic one would just be a 'stunt' machete. Etc...

Haha, this is hilarious. He had the prop right in his hands and he passes it off as just another of the thousands of replicas he signs. In his defense, you probably should have explained a little more that it was the real deal. I met him a few weeks ago, so I know how it is when you're being rushed through the line. I agree autograph sessions are so impersonal, and the fact you have to pay sucks.

It’s not the original glove because the original never had a weld mark bulging out on the middle finger. Plus Robert Englund himself said that he gave his agent the original glove, it was never lost. Now ask yourself who are you gonna believe some guy named “mike” or Freddy Kruger him self ? This is nothing more then a well made knockoff also how ironic that he doesn’t have the original glove yet claims the blades are the real ones 🙄
@mpetrie
@mpetrie 4 жыл бұрын
Firstly, that's not a weld mark bulging out of the middle finger. It's actually a dried piece of rubber band that the previous owner had wrapped around the tip at one point. Also, there have been some new developments since I made this video and it 100% puts the entire debate to rest. I have been asked by those involved to not disclose these new developments at this time. Robert has said a lot of things over his career. He even told me that a picture of himself from Nightmare on Elm Street part 1 was actually taken from Nightmare on Elm Street part 3. But that's entirely false. Robert simply is either slinging a false story, or he is simply mistaken. Robert's agent does not own the original glove.

He didn't steal it. It showed up unexpectedly at Heritage Auctions in 2009 and it was labeled as an "unfinished" Nightmare on Elm Street 5 glove. Mike found it on the website shortly after the auction ended and he contacted the website and asked if he could make an offer to the winner of the auction. They passed his offer on to the winner of the auction and it was accepted. The glove was then sent to Mike. A few years after I shot this video, Mike sold the glove to a high-end collector. This collector has connections and was able to sit down individually with both Lou Carlucci and Jim Doyle (these are the two guys that built the original glove for the 1984 film). They both examined the glove independently from one another and both of them have confirmed that it is in fact the glove they built back in 1984. They have both signed a Certificate of Authenticity as well. The glove now sits in the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA.

I never seen someone mumble and bumble their way through an important conversation like this. Why didn't you open with Lou and Jim have both authenticated this glove instead of playing a game show "have you see this before?". Better yet, let Robert's handler know what you have so they can tell him beforehand and then you can have something other than a fleeting fan sign-my-crap interaction with him. Fail.

This was Mike's opportunity and I didn't want to impose. Also, Lou and Jim hadn't authenticated the glove at this point. When I saw that Mike wasn't saying anything to Robert about it, I decided to speak up when Robert handed the glove back. I was trying to be respectful of Mike since it was his glove and his arrangement. Needless to say, I was underwhelmed as well.

@@MiniatureMasterClassIn the end, Robert is so convinced that his agent has the original glove. He's told this story so many times how he took the original glove from the Part 2 set and his agent has had it ever since. That is absolutely not true. Either Robert is simply mistaken or he is BSing entirely. I presume it's the former. But we are 110% certain that it's THE original glove. I even just found out within the last 2 weeks of a detail that I had known about but I thought it was something that happened to the glove around Part 2's filming. Turns out it's been that way since it was first built. Lou has a specific memory about something that happened during the glove's construction that stands out in his mind that no one else would know about and it would therefore have been impossible to replicate. The moment Lou saw that particular detail, he immediately recognized it and even started getting a little emotional about seeing it again
