Love how you was confusing that guinea by calling him a turkey. No wonder he wouldn't gobble. Bummer on it raining, I love the reproduction of Davy's ole homestead. That is so cool the doctor is helping history to stay a little longer when so many are wanting to tear the old down. I may have seen that house in the 60s with my parents.

Another interesting juxtaposition is that the Stover House originally was just downstream on the Watauga River from some of Abraham Lincoln's family. In fact, when Andrew Johnson was married, one of Lincoln's uncles in Greeneville conducted the ceremony. Of course, that was many decades before Andrew would become Abraham's vice president.

Oh Wow Billy. What a find? Only you could do. Your determination has no end. Everything you showed was so interesting. The place where the old home was along with the other homes were fabulous. So well kept and peaceful. Thank you and Ted for this wonderful show of the good old days. ❤️🤗💕🇦🇺

As the historical marker said, the Stover House was originally in Stoney Creek. Much of the house was destroyed by fire, but that part was saved and later moved to what became known as Fudd Town, a tourist attraction where your video started. It was then bought by an ear doctor, Dr. Schumaier and moved to his home, the site of the Reuben Brooks Farm. Ironically, Brooks was a leading Confederate supporter in Carter County and his son was a lieutenant in the Confederate Army and was ambushed a few miles from the home and made it home to die in his bedroom. So you have a Confederate family and the leading Union supporter in Tennessee in Andrew Johnson on Dr. Schumaier's property. Johnson died in the left upstairs bedroom just after being returned to the U.S. Senate in 1875.

I consider Johnson and Buchanan (the two bookends to Lincoln) some of the worst presidents out of all 45 of those men, but still fascinating to go on this mystery search with you 😊😊😊😊

The tourist venue was called “ Fudd’s Town” . Thy had little gift shops and I believe that a caged bear was once an attraction. The Cherokee were inhabitants of the riverside community and the original Fort Watauga was only a few yards away on the right. A river stone monument marks the fort location.

Andrew Johnson and I share the same birthday, Dec 29th . I live close to a lot of this stuff just across the state line in Southwest Virginia, you should have Tennessee Ted take you down to LMU (Lincoln Memorial Univ in Harrogate TN my alma mater) it's got an amazing museum with the biggest collection of Abe Lincoln items, as well as being a lovely campus in a little rural area. Then of course you could shoot thru the center of a mountain in a tunnel and go visit Middlesboro KY where a meteor crater created the whole town and of course all that area is part of the Cumberland Gap where Daniel Boone and others crossed into the west. There's even a place atop the mountain with a lookout where you can stand in three states at once and war cannons still up there. I really appreciate these videos you do, not just on Elvis (I've been a big fan since I was a kid in the 80s unfortunately I was born in 79 after he'd passed) but also on historical things like this. Maybe when you go back, if you're still able to interview the woman Elvis dated from over in Kingsport TN (I know the pandemic has held so much up ugh and now record gas prices aren't helping matters any) and visit LMU with TN Ted and he can show you LMU, Middlesboro's Crater (Middlesboro is also where Lee Majors the $6 Million Dollar Man grew up because one of my high school teachers had dated him growing up and she's still around and I wouldn't doubt her giving you an interview if you wanted one for something like that). I know a lot about this area in VA, TN and KY cause it's where I was born, raised, grew up, attended school including college and am still around here aside from a few years I spent in GA/SC. There's also an interesting open coal mine portal that does tours over in Cumberland KY and a huge natural bridge. If you ever were in this area again and needed help I'm around and don't mind at all to show people around. I wish you safe travels, thank you again for all the videos you do and God Bless. God Bless Elvis and all Elvis fans worldwide!

Oddly enough I had to go to an ear doctor for a hearing test in Johnson City . Think around 2009 and the owner had framed photos of the house. He told me he had purchased it. He was really cool, I always wanted to go inside that home as well as Fudds store as a kid. Also yes at the gas station was the original location.

I grew up in the area and remember the house and the Fudd property. I had assumed it had all fallen into such a state of repair that it had been torn down. Good to know it survived! Fudd also featured an original Studebaker Conestoga wagon on display (like the wagons used to settle the west). It sat out front for decades and it was in poor condition near the end. I wonder if it survived as well? Fudd sold tourist postcards (with photos probably taken of the ground in the 1950s or 1960s) and sometimes they can still be found online.
