I wish for peace and harmony everywhere. Once as a kid I read the story of a Japanese girl who got blood cancer as a result of radiation exposure because of nuclear attack. There's no denying that the Japanese did some horrible atrocities during the war, but regardless there's no denying that the bombs dropped on Japan was a horrible act in itself. It was a necessary evil, sure, but one we mustn't be proud of. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people died. You can't say that they all deserved it.
@han-ek7gd
@han-ek7gd 6 жыл бұрын
- Blu_Pixel - that was the quickest way to end the war. A land invasion would have ended more lives. The Japanese has not yet apologised or at least showed some sympathy for the 10 million people their ancestors killed during WW2, but they expect the sympathy of others.
@Blupl1776
@Blupl1776 6 жыл бұрын
Hannah Guo Hannah Guo you got it all wrong. First, I'm fully aware that it was a better option than invading Japan. That's why I called it a necessary evil. My point is that there's no way that innocent civilians deserved such a fate. They had little to do with the people their military had killed. Also while I personally haven't seen any examples of Japan apologizing to the people of China for the war crimes they committed there, there's no doubt in my mind that they've done it at some point. If you know anything about Japanese culture you would know about how honorable they are and how they own up to their mistakes. Likewise they never expected sympathy from the president like this. The whole trip didn't need to happen. They acknowledge how the bombs were necessary and don't expect people to make amends for it. You make it sound like we got bad beef with Japan, but there's a reason why we're allies now
@han-ek7gd

Harry S. Truman, the president who ordered the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, was part of the democratic party. Has Trump actually started any wars? Or has he been trying to end wars that were started before he came into office by pulling the troops back? "C'mon man"

It is an extremely difficult endeavour to visit and give a speech in a city that is the face of arguably the worst atrocity that you country has ever committed. It is equally as difficult to speak on the subject without admitting fault outright but still sound compassionate. This is a really powerful moment in history. My heart breaks for what the Japanese suffered. I respect President Obama for having the courage to face the people who suffered the consequences of his government's decisions.

He speaks well, but what did he really accomplish in office? I suppose he did get Gay Marriage legalized. But what else? Im not saying Trump is better. Trump talks like an idiot, but there have been a small handful of things he has done that have helped me personally, and a couple, especially at the beginning of his presidency, that hurt a little. But i dont think we’ve ever had great leadership here. Honestly.
