Jackie told Reagan afterward, with tears in her eyes…. “Mr. President, no one ever captured him in a speech the way you just did. That was Jack”.

The words spoken by President Ronald Reagan are, in my view, the best eulogy that I have ever heard on John F. Kennedy.

This was Ronald Reagan at his best. Like JFK, he was a mass of contradictions. And like JFK, he could blow the screen off the TV & make you see the stars. A gift few have.

What a great heart felt speach from a President, Reagan was during my generation, even though I am from UK, great leader, with strong trade and a strong economy, JFK will be remembered a one of the best president ever, but a republican tribute to a fellow democrat, god bless you Ronald Reagan but your memory lives on; thank you and god bless the people of USA

This is why President Reagan was a magnificent president. He reached out to all Americans, be they democrats or republicans. As he understood that first and foremost, all citizens were Americans who shared a history and who will shape a future together as Americans.

Trickle down economics... not a great president. Non of them are. Also if you know your history you'll know there was always a large impoverished swathe of America that has always despised Reagan and people of his despicable racist caliber.

As a European I must confess we were not Reagans biggest fans at the time. But in hindsight I have to say: Ronald Reagan truly was the greatest President of all.

You are not wrong about the European view of Mr Reagan in the 1980s. In part, that was due to our pernicious media.

I never had reason to doubt Former Pres. Reagan's patriotism, basic decency or grace. This is yet another moment that proves me right. There has, however, been occasion for me to doubt that those qualities extended to every subsequent office holder...

Not only does Reagan speak so eloquently but the poetic imagery that he uses (written by a speechwriter, I assume) is also delivered masterfully. But it’s a joy to listen to, even to me an Englishman.

As late as the 1980s, political differences could be put aside for the sake of decency. There used to be a time when Democrats and Republicans could be civil to each other and find common ground. How I wish Jackie had spoken.

What would JFK and RFK think about the turn that the Democrat party has taken. And about Joe Biden the course that he has taken this country what would those two men think of America today it certainly is not the dream and hopes that John F Kennedy and Robert F Kennedy had for America and certainly is not the shiny City on the hill that Ronald Reagan envisioned for America this is a sad epitaph to those dreams and hopefully they will not die.
