Pressure Washer 101

I used my new Dewalt 18" pressure washer surface cleaner to clean my driveway on my Northern Tool Powerhorse 3100 PSI 2.5 GPM pressure washer (should've used it to wash my trailer off too).
Tips and tricks to using a pressure washer with a surface cleaner for those large areas, and what not to do!

Fyi never pressure wash in shorts and tennis shoes. Trust me that pressure will take a slice out of a leg in a second.

Is that the original pump that came with that pressure washer? Or did you change out the pump?

Is there a switch to turn off the soap dispenser?

Nope. The black nozzle has a wider hole so it naturally causes the reservoir to be drawn from. If you use any other spray nozzle, with soap in the reservoir, then it’s my understanding that it will not come out. It only comes out of that black nozzle with the bigger hole.

What hose extension are you using?

The machine came with a standard hose, then I just added a 50’ hose, then my wand.

Why does everyone keep lifting the it up off the concrete ???

It clears it out. That and if there’s a small puddle, it’s harder for the jets to push through it to the surface. Lifting it up sort of dissipates the puddle and then right when it goes back down it cleans it well. For the most part though, it just releases all the junk inside.

Yep. That’s what I use for just about everything now. Just that first time I wasn’t smart enough to figure that out.

Assume you mean the liquid you put in the reservoir. (Obviously I’d recommend the 18” Dewalt surface cleaner). I bought concrete cleaner at Northern Tool when I bought the pressure washer. It ran out a loooong time ago. Any pressure washer concrete solution is sufficient. I’m not an expert in which brand works better. I will say, using a liquid in the reservoir does in fact make the surface cleaner work better.
