My rig uses a dewalt 4GPM with adjustable pressure. It allows for psi as low as needed for softwashing yet it goes all the way up to 4400psi. Really cool feature. For that reason I’ve been xjetting for a year or so. A $230 investment for a 60k return. I am happy. Shoots about 30 feet before misting gets severe, so I’m looking to pic up one of your modified versions soon.

I have to comment on the x jet. Using this without a proportioner tip (barb only) will pull a 50/50 mix from your batch tank. A 5 gallon bucket full of 12.5% SH and your surfactant will provide a 6.25% mix without the plastic tip. A 5 gallon bucket with 2 1/2 gallons of 12.5 SH and 2 1/2 gallons of water will provide a 6.25 mix in the bucket, and using the x jet without a tip will get you a 3.125% mix coming out of the x jet at this rate. I mix batches in a 30 gallon barrel that I leave on my trailer and run a 180 ft by 3/8 hose from it and it works great! I've been using this method for a few years now and I've cleaned everything I can think of, including asphalt shingles. Using the method to create a 6.25% mix will clean a roof great! Only issue with using the x jet is that it creates a lot of over -spray, but the more you use it, the better you get.

Using an jet on a roof can also cause the shingles to fly up due to the amount of pressure, unless you use a modified x jet. This is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of x jets for roof cleaning. That and the mist as you stated. You'll also use lot more bleach

Hey Jason.. Thanks for the insight and your replay. I'm just trying to double check here though because this is different than what Doug Rucker says... I'm not saying you're wrong but one of these is correct and the other isn't. He says 50% or 6.25 in the bucket is going to hit the house at 6.25/50%.... I don't see how that can be the case but can you confirm here? Thanks for your info again!

@@mattmayo937 the x jet comes with tiny proportioner tips which allows you to apply different chemicals at different ratios. Using the x jet without a tip, (barb only) produces a 2 to 1 ratio, or 50%. Whatever your mix is in the bucket, cut it in half when using it this way.

I prefer downstreaming because I get more distance and it’ll take care of most situations; I use my Softwash (P36) when cleaning roofs or heavily mildewed tall walls/brick; I’ll pull out the X-jet on smaller and sometimes harder to get to areas that are really dark where downstreaming will take forever to clean.

I prefer the xjet M5 , especially when working solo in the Texas heat. It allows me to switch back and forth between chem and rinse on the spot without a lot of running back and forth. That way I water plants, shoot chem, then go right back to watering or quickly rinsing.

I am an X-Jet pro! Been pressure cleaning since 1991. I only use the XjetM5 now since 2017. I use an aluminum hand truck with a 55 gallon SH tank strapped and 100’ of siphon hose. I use a reducer with a mosmatic swivel on my DN-10 that leads to a jrod and Davis shooter tip. I rarely need a gun and lance anymore. The Xjet allows me to cover large areas quickly and with the % that melts organic matter. I have an enclosed trailer and I know my system is more labor intensive but my results are explosive. We also have a system by AC Lockyer that we use for soft washing but my XJet tackles the job way faster, more efficient and effective. Plus all my equipment last forever…. hoses etc. Thank you for all you do and I will hopefully see you again at the conventions!!

Sounds like you might be the most experienced so far on XJET.... Can you answer this for me? If I use none of the colored proportioners and I make a 50/50 mix of SH/water which makes it land at 6.25% in the bucket.... When I shoot it with xjet, what % is hitting the house? 6.25% or 3.125%?? Thanks in advance for your help!

@@mattmayo937 Hi Matt, if you are using 12.5% SH then a 50/50 mix is our standard Housewash mix and it’s a little over 2%. 70/30 will be around a 3% mix and straight will give you a decent 4+% mix for roofs. I use long siphon hoses 30’ , 50’ & 100’ ; as you begin to raise the hose up a ladder suction begins to struggle, depending on how high up and at what angle you’ve placed your chemical tank. I use a 55 gallon vertical tank attached to an aluminum hand truck. I only fill about 30 gallons because of the weight. It helps to reduce splash when transporting around the property. Soft wash systems are great because you can get a much higher % at a lower volume, hence making less mess around bushes and plants, grass etc. with that being said you must keep vegetation wet always because the risk is also greater. The XjetM5 allows you to lay chems much faster and with much more pressure, allowing for greater heights. It is possible to attain that 4% hot mix as well but to get anything greater you’d need to use a pump-up or a soft-wash system. I find the Xjet tackles all jobs effectively and efficiently. Determining % of mix; there are so many factors that come into play, how long has the Chlorine been exposed to sunlight, what source did the chlorine come from, how has the chlorine been stored, how old is the chlorine, has the orifice in the Xjet gotten larger with use… it is not an exact science when taking these things into consideration. You can use the average method I gave you above to better help you batch your chems. It then will become trial and error and you’ll learn what works fir you in the climate you’re in and the amount of organic matter present on the surface you are cleaning. Thanks for your question and I hope this helps!

@@t-n-tpressurecleaning7781 Won't using a longer hose lower the concentration as it has more resistance to pull the chem or bleach. I was hoping with the short hose and bring the bleach up the ladder to get closer to 50%? I know more labor intensive but hoping it will get me by until I get a soft wash system. I have also found putting a little jomax makes the bleach kick and be strong for a short period of time, and stuff doesn't grow back as quick, that was back in the day when I did pressure washing.

@@jerwgar I suggest using a 12v for roof cleaning and eventually getting a gas powered soft wash system. Carrying SH up a ladder and surfactant too gets old really quickly and can be dangerous depending on the severity of the pitch. It can be done and yes a shorter hose has a faster draw but holding onto a chemical pail is also very dangerous up on a roof. I bought a 12 volt 4.0 gpm bleach pump from northern tool (northstar system) just to make life easier and get a 5%-6% mix to really clean the roof with no pressure. I am building a trailer with the AR-45 gas powered system now. Xjetting roofs can be done but it’s not ideal. I still use it for everything else. Hope this helps and please be careful if you decide to go at it old school style.

Bought XJet a long time ago. Got longer hose and a cart for SH drum. Used it 2 times only. Too much spray from X5 nozzle and sucks on windy days. I really need to take time to modify it. Right now I downstream and use backpack sprayer for bad areas. But on houses where entire walls and sides are bad, I have to downstream those areas 2-3 times to get it clean, eating up more time and wasting SH diluting it through 200 ft hose. Guess I will get off my ass and modify the XJet today!!!

I've used x-jet for industrial food service cleaning. It's a bit easier to work with. We used 3 gallon plastic j-cans. I can see a similar benefit when doing remote location work such as back garden walkways or multiple water based treatments. wash, wax, bleach, algecide, soap...., heck even some sort of quat or scent... It's a bit more swiss army knife than bowie knife. IMHO

I prefer XJET. I like it better because i mix up jugs different chemicals for degreaser for flat work or SH mix for house wash and i can adjust more often than when i batch mixed my 50gallon tanks for 12v pump. I use modified XJET and i can shoot higher on houses on slightly windy days too. I do have a 2nd guy to help move my hoses and xjet pail buckets so that helps. I added hose to my XJET system to get me 40ft or so. I also like that no SH goes through my high pressure hose EVER. XJET also takes any mechanical failure out of the equation vs 12v PUMP. So i prefer XJET mainly.

It would be nice to be able to change the orifice from a house wash to a hot roof wash using the same machine and eliminate the extra hose and bucket.

I see a lot of guys say they dont use proportioners with the xjet. My question is, whats the technical difference between an xjet and a downstream injector. Like internally what is different? Im wondering why you cant just put a downstream injector at the end of your gun and use an adjustable tip to get close to the same results at less than a quarter of the cost of the xjet.
@dougrucker6783

You can do that but it will not be the same results as x Jet as far as strength. Difference is X-Jet does not operate off a venturi like an injector does. Injector requires pressure difference to draw the chemical. X jet uses the high pressure at the wand

I’ll have to watch closer to see if non-black tips are still pulling from downstream

Are you meaning move the downstream injector closer to the or at the gun? You could but won't make much difference in pulling. If the higher pressure tip is pulling soap the tip. Sounds like the orifice is to large. Could be the hole as gotten larger over time from water pressure or wasn't milled correctly from the manufacturer.

New to washing. I thought more suds were good because they help the mix to stay on the mold and algae longer, thereby doing better at removing them. No?
@PressureCleaningSch
@PressureCleaningSch 3 ай бұрын
"Suds" don't do anything for the cleaning. The surfactant helps to keep the surface wetter longer thereby allowing the bleach to change the color of the stains quicker. The bleach doesn't remove the stains it just changes the color of them. While more surfactant may cause the mix to "stick" the tradeoff is it takes longer to get that color change and also will "stick" to anything else better like plants and causes longer rinse time if you are going to rinse the surface. Proper spray technique, not flooding the surface, is the best way.

How does the X-Jet pull less water than downstreaming? From a newbie perspective, you'd think they'd both pull the same rate?
@Frindleeguy
@Frindleeguy 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe just because you can get a hotter mix? So less water to apply the same amount of chem? My xjet says it maxes out at 3:1, and my downstream says 10:1. That's my best guess on that one, as the gpm of the actual machine wont be affected very much either way.

I’m possibly considering either one to connect to my washer since it would be more efficient to just load up one machine instead of the two that we been using. Appreciate your time for the answer and look forward to more videos.

@@PressureCleaningSch Hey Doug! Love your videos as I am subscriber who has learned a lot from you. Like Island Raw above, with the XJet I thought you put 100% SH in the pail and let the proportioners get you the desired percent. Currently, I only clean flatwork (sidewalks/driveways etc) with 12.5% and need approx 3-4% on the surface. But I'd much rather use your method of mixing 1/3 SH and 2/3 water in the pail....but how does it not dilute the SH strength with all of the extra water coming in from the hose/house? (I completely get it if I'm using a dedicated pump up sprayer but don't get the concept with the extra water). Are we saying that at 12.5%, a 50/50 ratio in the pail would get me around 5-6% on the surface? I thought I had it figured out but now I am confused. Any clarification is much appreciated! Thank you.

@@63bigjack When mixing in my bucket for x jet. First i do not use the inserts, and I always mix in the bucket how I want it to come out. So if I want a 50/50 mix, I put 1/2 bleach in the bucket and 1/2 water., no inserts. What comes out will not be an exact 50/50 but will be fairly close. I’m not trying to get an exact %. I’m just trying to get it strong enough to change the color of the organic stains. If your want a more exact % then your are correct in using the inserts. Hope that helps.
