The moment I saw the eye scene my first thought was “Jay is going to faint when he sees this”

You joked about it early on, but Butcher is 100% this universes version of Venom, only the symbiote isn't an alien but a Compound V enhanced tumor trying to keep its host alive. There were only 3 episodes of the Diabolical animated series confirmed to be canon, and one was about a man that gave Compound V to his wife to cure her cancer and the tumor got powers and became a separate entity.

I had to turn away during the lobotomy scene, too. The entire concept of the procedure - Going through the eye, the scraping of the brain, the casual nature of the entire ordeal... it's real horror lol.

I had the exact same reaction as you guys with the eye scene😂. Eye stuff is trigger for me and this is the first time in all of the seasons that I've had to cover my face. Just the fact that I was listening to it grossed me out.😅

Yeah, Butcher is basically Eddie Brock at this point; he just doesn’t know it. Huey put the Compound V in his jacket pocket, then took off his jacket right before stepping out of the room, so that was his mom’s chance to grab it. I managed to power through the lobotomy scene, but I cannot hold it against anyone who couldn’t. That’s absolutely some horror movie shit.

This episode truly had quite the collection of moments that made it veeeery difficult to continue watching the episode without feeling terribly sick and uncomfortable, which was the intention so yay? In The Boys: Diabolical episode 7 John and Sun-hee(an episode confirmed to be canon). John steals a bottle of V from Vought to give to his wife dying of pancreatic cancer. The V combined with the tumor to make it sentient protecting Sun-hee until it absorbed about a dozen soldiers (their bodies were vaporized similar to the utter destruction of Ezekiels body) so it was strong enough to leave her body and became an unstoppable cancer kaiju. So I think that Becca is the sentient cancer appearing to him and the "worms" in his body are parts of his body that have metastasized that are joining with the mass in his head. Just a theory.

Three things: (1) I have a phobia of things happening to eyes, so I'm right there with you on the lobotomy scene. (2) Karl Urban is super attractive to lots of women (myself included), but the female gaze is more about women being turned off by things most men find cool and turned on by things most men consider effeminate. For example, men love Gerard Butler in 300, women love him in The Phantom of the Opera and P.S. I Love You. (Broad generalization, I know, but that just defines the concept.) Of all the people homelander killed those are the only group of people i feel absolutely no empathy, for...they happily torture homelander for years, and basically created a fucking monster (don't get me wrong Homelander is still responsible for all of his bad actions, but the people working at this lab definitely had a big part on why he's that way) The guy said "I was just doing my job" but his job was still torturing & mistreating a kid, and like homelander said nobody stopped and said that what they were doing was wrong. All of them were OK with what they were doing until he came back for revenge. And now that I'm thinking about it I'm surprised that none of them were expecting this... like the second Homelander left the lab all of them should've ran and hide because if I was them, I would fully expect him to come back and kill me for what I did.

Why do I have the feeling The Deep is going to botch that lobotomy in future episodes?

Butcher told Hughie in the first season that when he met him, he always had an expression as though he were sitting in a chair about to tip over. The look on his face after his fight in this episode...it was a total change. He seemed almost numb, and I think that plays into why he's forgiving A-Train. He no longer lives in a world where people get to be innocent. Hopefully his newfound family can reach him if things go wrong with his father.

Four seasons in, and they still act surprised whenever something from real life appears in The Boys.

I was hungover watching this episode and left the room for the lobotomy scene I couldn’t stomach it😭

Now I really want to know who Homelander’s genetic mom is. Apparently someone who they didn’t want to carry the pregnancy, begging the question of why. Was it someone who had powers that would fit well with Soldier Boy’s invulnerability and strength? Did she even have the same powers as Homelander or were his laser beam and flight totally a random coincidence? Was she someone important that Vought didn’t want to put at risk (and that’s big coming from Vought). Is she still alive?

Not sure if y’all watched Diabolical but i think Butcher’s V latched onto his cancer like that one episode of Diabolical. They specifically said 3 of the Diabolical episodes were canon and it would now make sense why that out of all of them was chosen to be canon!

I think it's so funny how I didn't find the lobotomy scene disturbing at all (needles and blades for eye surgery is way worse and I can't look at it) but as a person with phobia of butterflies I can't look at one on a tv screen for a mili second without feeling like I'm gonna die 😹😹😹😹 people are so built different 😹 I rewatched the episode with my boyfriend, which couldn't look at that scene, and I told him that the sound effects alone make you think it's worse than it really is LMAO
