Hi FishHardGetLucky! I’ve just finished up in the bay and I had enough time to hit 5 drivers with the PRGR setup vs. Trackman exactly the same as you saw in the video. The clubhead speeds were all within 1mph of each other and for 3 shots they identical when the TM number was rounded up/down. Ball speeds were identical in all 5 shots which blew my mind! The only negative is that the PRGR overestimated my carry number by 5-7 yards on all of the shots but it was consistent! I hope that helps you! Please feel free to ask any other questions, that’s what I want this KZfaq channel to do - help other golfers! All the best! 👍🏼

Haha glad you found it funny Kevin! I genuinely couldn’t believe it. I was convinced it would be 2-5% out and that would still have been impressive enough for home use as a mid handicap golfer but how accurate it was just surprised me so much! Obviously there’s discrepancies and the lack of certain parameters being measured like spin will always play a part but as a home device for speed training or basic data on the range, I love it! All the best and thank you for watching my video! 👍🏼

I love the PRGR. I've used it for swing speed training and its also great for prepping before a round if you've only got nets and not an actual range. Only slight downer is, as you say Luke, that it struggles with wedges/shorter shots. I place it on a head cover or similar to raise it slightly and it seems to like that better.

I have owned a PRGR for past 2 years, it has served me very well, be careful though keep the unit perfectly level for accurate readings. I use a small tripod £7 ebay with level mount, other axis used is a pocket bubble ebay £1. Worth the effort of 1-2 minutes to set level.

Not familiar with "speed training" nor how this sort of gadgetry actually works, but based on what I saw here in your fine review (and comments related to club selection method with the gadget), it looks like the dern thing doesn't even require that a *ball* be present! *Wonderful*! Rob Cheney, the brilliant Singapore based fellow on KZfaq, has convinced me that learning how hard to swing a gap wedge to generate all the carries between 30 and 80 yards is something that I *really* want (and need) to know. And I am willing to put in the practice time on it. I *must* have this thing, as it appears that there would essentially be no *limit* on how much this could be easily practiced. Just gotta find a source for bulk battery purchase. :-) Thanks so much for sharing!

Hi Kevin! Thank you so much for watching my video and glad you found the review helpful! Just for clarity, as I’d hate for you to buy the device without me being clear on this, the PRGR will only show clubhead speed without a ball so it is perfect for swing speed training but it will not show carry distances without you hitting a ball. But that can be into a net. Sounds like you’re doing some great work so all the best with it! 👍🏼

It has a facility to set which club to measure. It does 9 iron to 3 iron (I). No 2 iron unfortunately. It does U3 to U6. I'm assuming this means utility clubs, which I would hope in turn would include both irons and hybrids because there isn't a separate category dedicated to either. It does PW, AW and SW, but no Lob Wedge, so considering the number of short clubs available it is a bit limited. It does W1, W3, W4, W5, W7 and W9. I assume these are for woods, W1 being the driver. I use a lot of hybrids which are only numbered by their loft. In some circles these could, I suppose be deemed as woods and an estimation could be made to decide what wood they represent to use for input. Similarly though, they could be termed as iron replacements, certainly for the longer less lofted hybrids. For instance, a 19° hybrid equating to a 2 iron which could and can only be input as a 5 wood. But does that work? There are possible anomalies with the PRGR in this respect. I would like to understand why the numbering of the club needs to be entered in the first place. How does it calculate for each club, or is the input only for data storage and subsequent analysis and comparison? I mean, could I obtain all I need to know from swinging a 5 iron (5I) on the driver setting (W1)? I don't know much about the expensive launch monitors and their flexibility but the PRGR also has modes for baseball, (batting and pitching), which are frankly pretty much redundant. The device could have been designed to be a dedicated unit for golf with possibly more information being made available. I have one and it is quite useful but it is limited in its versatility.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Жыл бұрын
Hi Barnes! Thanks for watching my video and for such a helpful and informative comment. I think it’s great for viewers to hear from other owners of the device. My understanding is that for hybrids you would use the Utility club choice rather than the woods. Most manufacturers put a number against their hybrids as well as the lofts so I’d use that. For example a 19 degree hybrid in most brands would be a 4 hybrid so I’d use the U4 for that. I’ve used my 22 degree hybrid in U5 and it seems to be fairly accurate. Regarding whether you need to select the club, my understanding is each club has an algorithm based on the club and ball speed it picks up to determine carry distance and I’d suspect these to be a little out if you had grossly the wrong club selected (eg hitting your SW with it set up as W1) and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t take the 10 seconds to select the right club. I don’t disagree though that it’s not perfect and you do have to sometimes use the club you think is most like the one in your hand but I’ve seen that with some other launch monitors too so they are not alone. I do think for the price point it’s unbelievable value with high accuracy when compared to Mevo+ (£2k) right up to TrackMan (£20k). Great insight though and thank you so much for taking the time to put some a great comment! 👍🏼

I have Titleist hybrids. I have a 17°, 19°, 21°, 24° and 27° I also have three "utility irons". A 2, 3, and 4. I experiment a lot! Where, in your opinion would these be placed as "numbered clubs". The utility irons are probably a little more obvious, but the problem is relating them back to the hybrids and in turn relating those back to the conventional irons that they would take the place of.
@weekendtourpros
@weekendtourpros Жыл бұрын
Hi Barney! Thanks for the follow up. Nothing wrong with experimenting! Based on other manufacturers who do stick a number on their hybrids as well as the lofts (e.g. TaylorMade and Cobra) I’d suggest that the: 17 degree = 2 hybrid 19 degree = 3 hybrid 21 degree = 4 hybrid 24 degree = 5 hybrid 27 degree = 6 hybrid So for those I’d use the U2-U6 settings and I’d do the same for your utility 2 iron too if there is a U2 option. For the other long irons I’d be surprised if there’s too much difference in the data between selecting a U4 or just an I4 etc. I don’t *think* the algorithm would change hugely between a U4 or I4 etc. but just think to maximise accuracy I’d select as close as I can to the actual club. Worst case I’m sure you’re talking a 1-2% discrepancy. Hope that helps pal and thanks again for your comments! 👍🏼

Hi Cafeinomano! Sadly it cannot and that’s probably reflected in the price point vs things like the Garmin that are just that little bit more expensive but do offer some basic functionality. Hi David! Thanks for watching the video and for your question. I’ve only hit a handful of drivers with it and found it to be really good. When I did my testing for the video I actually found it got more accurate as speed went up and clubs got longer. However I am quite an average swing speed player and I have read some people with fast speeds (Driver over 105mph) comment that it struggles with driver/fairway woods a little bit. Sadly I can’t test that but I’m impressed from what I’ve seen. I had a Mevo+ for a bit and I think this is more accurate (at what it measures, noting the Mevo+ measures more!) for 10% of the price and a lot less time to setup! I hope that helps! 👍🏼
