Bob seemed genuinely excited for this contestant. Pretty remarkable that she picked the cards she did. There was no way she could lose. Well done!

Although she said 26 and Bob choose 27, it didn't really matter because before he got to 27, she already won the car.

I noticed Bob's error in giving Amy 27 when she asked for 26. However, it had not affected the outcome of the game since she already won on the second card! THE GREATEST SPELLING BEE WIN EVER!

I remember watching this on TV with my Grandmom. I didn't understand why she only got one car as a kid lol I was convinced she'd won 3. I didn't quite get the concept of the game yet

If I remember, it is oftentimes difficult to find the R & the CAR Card since there are only 6 R’s & 2 CAR Cards.

They started doing that from the very beginning. If you get one producet exactly right, you automatcily get all the products and three choices from the spelling bee board. This happened on the very first playing of SB. However, getting a C, an A, a R and both cards spelling CAR is a miracle in its own right!!!

The ironic thing is that this was the first pricing game on the show that day. Had it been the sixth and final game, and the first five were lost, this would have "saved the day" big time. I remember when the first four games were lost and the last two were won. The sixth game was "Dice Game." The player got two digits right and rolled a 1 or 6 on the others, ensuring a win. Bob says... "Fate is changing here with the last game of the show, that means we'll be hot tomorrow."

I would imagine that if this was played perfectly on a Million Dollar Spectacular & this was the Million Dollar Game, the player would win the $1 Million.

If *Spelling Bee* allow bonuses, the contestant would have already spelled "C-A-R" or the "CAR" card, the extra unfinished letters would be added with face value, but if the extra car is revealed it would be 5× the face value plus if the extra letters spell "CAR", it would be an extra 5× single card value. (e.g. $500 × 5 × 2 = you get the idea, before tax.) Either way, what a Triple Finish!

That actually did happen in Season 35, I think. One lady did not win any extra cards, but went for the car anyway. And what do you know -- she did get one of the two "CAR" cards!

He was very nervous about it, because the producer at the time was very angry and suspecting someone was cheating and gave him the exact price. It's actually in the documentary that the person who gave him the exact price was a former contestant who was notorious for giving exact bids every time, so much so that Bob Barker noticed him on several occasions until he finally got into Contestants Row, and got to play Punch A Bunch, winning only $1,000. He would keep coming back until he was permanently banned during Drew Carey's tenure on TPIR.

If it was a mistake, I wonder why she didn't correct Bob? At least the outcome turned out good. If for whatever reason Bob's mistake would've caused a LOSS, they would have given her the car. It doesn't matter a whole lot anyway in this case, because she got the CAR card in one of her free picks. There was actually a contestant (in season 35, I think,) who did not win any extra cards, thus, the only way she could win was if she got a CAR card. Despite the odds, she went for it, and won!
