Thanks for the video! Movie sounds like it could’ve been outstanding in all categories, but only manages a few.

I feel like I wanna support it just because it’s not a Ducking franchise or sequel or remake even if it looks like blade runner, Akira, terminator thrown into a blender

The charisma void that is JD Washington hasbto do a lot with the lack of connection to the main character. He just isn't a good leading man, unlike his father who is one the very best of all time.

Its not the screenplay. Its the lead actor who happens to be Denzel Washington's son. For some reason, producers in holywood think this guy can carry a film. They put him in Tennet and he didn't have much Gravitas. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because Nolan script was kinda all over the place in my opinion. But in this movie, he's the same dude from Tennet.
@PriceofReason

It's hard for me to judge him based on Tenet or The Creator. In both movies the writing didn't really do him any favors. I actually think I liked him better in Tenet tbh. In any case, he's certainly not on Denzel's level but then again, most actors aren't.

“Producers in Hollywood” Both Tenet and Creator are independent passion projects where directors ARE producers. Nolan and Edwards chose him because THEY like him, not because some producers forced them to take him

Pretty much how I feel about this movie as well. It had great potential, and the production value is off the charts. But that screenplay really brought this movie down.

It's frustrating because there was potentially a really good movie here that just doesn't live up to its potential.

It was a really nice and enjoyable movie. But it truly frustrated me, because I got really invested on the first 30 minutes of the movie and as a huge fan of Blade Runner, the shots in the city blew me away, I was only hoping to get a good ending, but unfortunately what followed were, although great action scenes, in my opinion they could've been completely scrapped in favour of more character development and buildup for the grand finale on Noman, which seemingly came out of nowhere.

To me even the action fell flat because of the dumb tactics of supposedly highly advanced futuristic military machines and soldiers.

It was visually stunning, but the writing was hollow with an eye rolling plot twist. It was a beautiful mess. The original score by Hans Zimmer was brilliant though. That man is a musical genius.

Pretty good video, kid. I’m halfway through the film and kept giving up because it was getting worse by the minute and the stream on Hulu is having trouble. Just little things were compounding. Why does an AI bot kid want ice cream? Why does an AI bot sleep like a human and speak English in a heavy Japanese accent? The film is too caught up in the pinched chase savior scenario to explain the world.

I thought this movie was gonna be the next sci fi masterpiece like Elysium, but as soon as I saw the pg 13 rating I knew the movie was gonna suck, I said again there choosing making money over making a quality film, they hate missing out on the kid & teen money, so instead they ruin what could have been a masterpiece.

I always enjoy your reviews, and went to see this film before seeing your review just now. I loved it! While the writing indeed isn't perfect and is rather hamfisted in telling the audience who are "good" (even involving a trope with a puppy being threatened) and indeed I was left with some questions regarding New Asia and the titular creator, I was thoroughly immersed and enjoyed the ride. What I did notice positively was an old-school Joseph Campbell Hero's Journey, complete with refusal of the call to adventure up to the elixir, such that the final moments of the film and the spectacle to me felt quite emotionally earned. And... Wait... this movie "only" cost 80 million? It indeed looked 200 million plus, but it's clear the advertising budget was slashed as I had personally forgotten about it after seeing the initial previews. I have to say I didn't find any objectionable messaging personally, certainly not compared to any of the dreck of recent years. In short, I am very glad I saw this in a theater and if you're a fan of some of the movies mentioned that it clearly is drawing inspiration from, I would advise you to do the same.

First of all, I appreciate that you watch my reviews. As you can see, I didn't hate it or anything. There was a lot to like but the writing (for me) wasn't as good as it should have been. That's really the issue I had.

Perhaps my expectations for writing are so low recently... I do agree it could have been tighter and more succinct in a few parts. In the party of three I saw the film with, I was the most positive about it so I'd certainly say mileage will vary. Anyways please keep it up @@PriceofReason we depend on people expressing their honest opinions, there are so few remaining.

Yeah saw it yesterday, seems to have really interesting world building where a good story could be told but unfortunately we ended up with an overly predictable mess. Would have been interesting if they had the big ship come down and then have the ai go back on their promise not to retaliate against the west now that they have the advantage.

Rogue One is absolutely the best, (and arguably only good), Disney SW project, despite some obvious issues. The prequel series Andor is thoroughly solid entertainment, and lacks all the things which define the state of suck at Disney.

I saw the trailer and it seemed to me like a Netflixish story about robot Jesus and a dude that has moral struggle but in the end he does exactly what one could expect. I had a feeling I know everything about that story without even watching it. So the trailer did rather poor job. I'm not planning to watch it in cinema.

This sounds like its pretty much what i expected from the trailer. A good looking movie with a dumb, obvious script. Honestly, i just never expect much of anything frombhigh concept movies today. I dont think writers have the creativity to think of something unique or interesting. This gave me the same impression i get from Niel Blomkamp movies. An idea and a message without the writing skills needed to make a compelling movie out of it.
