regarding the transgender signs - the first one is actually really outdated and quite offensive now so the trans deaf community have been trying to get it eradicated, it literally translates to "change of heart", whereas the second, more inclusive one is "the inner spirit is settled"

@DonaldJ Trump as a lesbian, i can assure you it's not bullshit. all of these sexualities are very real and if you don't grow the fuck up you'll remain on the wrong side of history and a disappointment. there's absolutely nothing wrong with being lgbt+, AT ALL. it's literally just people loving who they love. lgbt has literally been around since the dawn of time. spartans were so gay the woman shaved their heads so they looked more manly because the men couldn't bear to have sex with anything other than a man. literally everyone in ancient greece was bi, including the majority of the Gods. homosexuality is found in thousands of animal species too. and many ancient tribes had the identity of two-spirit, which is kinda like two genders at once, and other tribes had third genders or even no genders, so don't argue that it's new or unnatural, because it's not.

the people replying negatively are so ignorant. it's illegal to be lgbt in 70+ countries, it's punishable by death in over ten of them. most if not all religions are against LGBT. please tell me how this means modern day LGBT people aren't discriminated against. please don't be so ignorant and educate yourself. like seriously, how does people being LGBT affect you, they're just trying to be happy. let them be happy and don't be so ignorant.

Thank you for this video 🙏🏼 My friend has asked me to make their music video for their upbeat & inclusive song, ‘The Girls, the Gays & the Theys’. I’d love to incorporate some BSL within the dance. I want to be respectful though of people who are hard of hearing/deaf. None of participating people are, so I don’t want to come across as using signing as a gimmick. Given the theme of inclusivity for the song & video (though of course that’s LGBTQ+ specific) I think it may be welcomed? Would someone hard of hearing/deaf let me know if it would actually offend them if they were to see people using signing in a music video as part of the general visuals. Would it be disrespectful 🤷. Sorry for the specificity and/or ignorance of the question. As I say, I just want to be respectful! Many thanks Xx 😊

If you signing BSL as long as you are signing in BSL order and make sure that what your saying is BSL not Macaton or SSE then they will be more than happy. The deaf community enjoy having people being exclusive to them as long as their language is used right and shown right. The only thing they strongly dislike is hearing people using their language wrong for “ hearing gain” saying that you sign as a hearing perosn but never learned form the deaf community themselves or a deaf teacher and only doing it to get praise from hearing people not giving back to the deaf community so I suggest looking into deaf groups there are many on Facebook I can advise for you to talk to, to really get a hang of BSL order. Just to say though BSL is not English at all so it takes a while to translate if there are allot of English words in your production as there is not a sign for every English word and it is not spoken in English word order. So consider that as well. Other wise 😊 go ahead.
@rainbow_T Жыл бұрын
There are too many hearing people who “ pretend” to know sign when they don’t. This angers the deaf community allot. The olly murs scandal is a great example. He never reached out to the deaf community and the signs he used was wrong and he said it was BSL when it was Makaton and there was massive uproar In the deaf community for having their language wrongly used. Or some on even this platform KZfaq they “ sign” and say “ BSL/SSE” they are not the same. And they are also using the wrong signs just for the popularity and to pretend to know what their doing when they don’t

Anyone know of the sign for aromantic? I assume you can just add the sign for gray in front for gray asexual and gray aromantic.
@grahammitchell66814 жыл бұрын
I'm curious about your signs for PANSEXUAL and NON BINARY. Why are they signed like that? Also, I would question your sign for QUESTIONING as how you've signed it is like"asking everyone", when it's more so question yourself and your own journey. Regardless, I do like how you repeat your signs and are clear in handshape and movement.
@grahammitchell66814 жыл бұрын
I think you've copied them from Jessica Kellgren-Fozard's video, which is fair-do's if you're researching. I would disagree with how they're signed but I would have to think about or ask deaf people on how they would them. But pan people commenting on her video agree that the sign for pansexual looks like they would "dish it out" to anyone, which they are loving.
@plateoffrogs47094 жыл бұрын
@fat cabbage pansexual is an attraction to ALL genders, with no preferences. they don't really see gender and it doesn't play any role in who they fall in love with.
@elijahmorris85983 жыл бұрын
Graham Mitchell “copying” from Jessica’s video isn’t how this works that’s like saying any video on English vocabulary is like copying from the dictionary. They are not his signs specifically nor are they created by Jessica. Fluent BSL users don’t really need to erase arch other you tubers to find vocabulary. Just for future reference please don’t “disagree” with signs if you’re not deaf or use BSL. The sign for questioning is non directional, in that there is not a target of the question, if there was a target for the question it would be indicated, so the sign really isn’t questioning everyone else. The other thing to remember is that signs are contextual, in that if a person was using it to describe their own experiences they can freely add the context of specifically questioning themselves, if it is being used in a more general conversation then having someone sign “questioning myself” doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense. For pansexual the sign is pretty much that you can give love to lots of different people which is a pretty good condensed description of pansexuality. I don’t know the exact etymology of the sign for non binary but it seems fairly clear that you are indicating two options (the binary) and then diverging from them which again seems like a good condensed description of being non binary.
@bekind3340 Жыл бұрын
@@elijahmorris8598 that is a great point! To add, the signs for man and woman both have one direction they are signed in so for non binary to not be in one or another direction really shows how it is not like binary genders and is not a third gender. I’m not fully deaf so feel free to correct me.

Simple answer is context. Much like in English a word can have different meanings depending on the context it is used in.
