Why do I get the impression that this whole story is fictional? Maybe it’s the ai voice or stock photos. To me as a Catholic, the story just doesn’t sound plausible. A more likely scenario is that the kindly parish priest would have recovered all the cash, heard the pretend priest’s confession and talked the thief into turning himself into the authorities. The PP then visited the thief in prison, who then converted to the Catholic faith and really did become a priest at that parish. Now that’s a real story.
