SpaceX began developing its first spacesuit all the way back in 2015. It took Hollywood costume designer Jose Fernandez several months to design a suit that looked as sleek as possible,
and from there it was then up to the SpaceX engineers to make it functional. Has SpaceX mastered the Space Suit? In this video we’re going to learn how SpaceX mastered space suits, as
well as discover who won the giveaway from my video last month!

One little problem here buddy. You're comparing a SpaceX suit which is designed and made for only traveling into space and back while inside the spacecraft for an emergency case,. They are not EVA suites designed for space EVAs or lunar walking of any sort. Also, NASA spacesuits are 50 years old, originally designed for Apollo and then new versions made for the space shuttle. You can't even compare the two.. Plus, right now NASA has two companies better building all new suits, one design specifically for the ISS and EVA space walks, and another company is designing and building one purely for lunar EVAs.. Neither of the new suits are designed by or manufactured by SpaceX, and both new suites will be in service completely replacing all the old NASA suits by 2025-26.

Something that really needs to be stressed is the SpaceX suit is not an EVA suit and cannot be worn disconnected from the capsule. It is not space rated and is only for being worn inside the capsule as a secondary environment protection in the event the capsule loses pressure. The NASA suits are capable of independently supporting a life-support pack and have other additional layers for protection during EVA's.

And, with SpaceX's reliability of the falcon 9 launches I am very confident that they'll achieve atleast a similar reliability with starship. He most certainly won't die on this mission. Ok here listen to me real quick. Since you're still a child, I don't blame you for not understanding this quite yet. However, you should know how horrible of a person elon musk is. He tries to kill his tesla workers to save some money, blatantly refuses to have a safe abort system on any rocket, and thinks that space is a business, and not a frontier. The reason I'm saying this is because spacex is literally just musk. Anything musk does, spacex does too, and vice versa. I can also guarantee you that spacex will not land on the Moon or Mars. Instead, NASA/JAXA/ESA/Roscosmos/Axiom Space will land on Mars with the whole world watching. I would recommend not falling for the lies and brainwashing of pro-musk people. Go out, do your research and think about it, and you'll come to the same conclusion that we need to stop musk and spacex from ruining everything. Also, think about what really means "space" to you. It should be something like a Soyuz, a Space Shuttle, an SLS, or the ISS, not a death rocket made by a billionaire. Thanks for reading this, and have a good day too, regardless of if you decide to think deeply about what I said.

Obviously Artemis, the future Ares (they better name it right this time unlike Apollo) program and Gateway are the most exciting! I think reusable rockets are also a game changer! Not like the Space Shuttle existed or Dreamchaser or the DC-X..... spacex totally is the first to have reusable "rockets".
@ReddwarfIV
@ReddwarfIV Жыл бұрын
@@TrueSpace61The Space Shuttle was an arse-backwards design that sacrificed a huge amount of payload capacity for its giant reusable orbiter... while the external tank was thrown away and the SRBs weren't worth refurbishing. Dream Chaser is still in development. The DC-X was never an orbital rocket. It was a test vehicle comparable to SpaceX's Grasshopper.
@TrueSpace61
@TrueSpace61 Жыл бұрын
@@ReddwarfIV The Space Shuttle was able to carry large loads into space, large enough to get the job done (e.g. SpaceLab, ISS Modules, TDRS, the IUS and its payload, and Hubble). While it was impossible to fully refurbish without the addition of an ET heat shield, it drastically lowered the cost of, and allowed more people to travel to, space and the ISS. There is no evidence whatsoever of the Space Shuttle being ineffective or inefficient. Secondly, Dream Chaser is more expensive and has a smaller payload than the Shuttle. I know that since you're British, you don't have as much experience or education on rocket systems (The only British rocket was a Nazi ripoff), but it is launched on top of a massive, non-reusable rocket to bring supplies to the Station (Similar to the Cygnus spacecraft, the US' version of the Прогресс. Lastly, the DC-X, while only being a test rocket, was monumental in proving that VTVL is possible (Similar to the Harrier and VTOL). The Delta Clipper in general was an orbital-class rocket, but constant budget cuts from the U.S. government (so they could fund imperialist wars in the Middle East) prevented NASA from building it. Overall, I think you should do research (maybe even read your first book :)) before making wild claims like that. "The Space Shuttle: Technologies and Accomplishments" is a must-read for anybody wanting to learn about the Shuttle's history.

“Okay, we’d like to introduce our new moon suit! Our moon astronauts will be wearing this, so we’ve worked pretty hard on it.” “Wow, looks great!” *later* “…crap, we spent almost all of our budget developing that. Hey, SpaceX?” “Hmm?” “Do you have a suit good enough for moonwalks?” “I thought you already made one of those?” “We spent almost all our budget on it, though. We’re 20 months behind schedule now, so have you-“ “Oh, I’m years ahead of you, NASA.”

Apples to oranges. Comparing an EVA suit to their suits isn’t valid. The complexity is due to it being able to, you know, do an EVA with it. Something SpaceX hasn’t done and proven. I don’t know why people constantly give credit where it isn’t due. Nothing here is valid.

NASA’s first spacesuits were designed to fit the person wearing the suit. The suits on the space station are modular because there’s only so much room on the space station to store them. Thus, if we used Elon Musk’s plan, we would have to store an EVA space suit for every single astronaut we have in the space program. The Russian space capsules are simply too small to be toting EVA suits back and forth. The Russian suits are also one size fits most, with interchangeable arms/legs/torsos. Elon hasn’t created something new here. He’s actually gone backwards with his technology. NASA has already been there, done that. As EVA suits are incredibly expensive, the cost of providing 3 suits for each astronaut would be prohibitively expensive. Yes, it takes 3 suits per astronaut when they’re custom fitted. One for training, one for actual use, and one backup in case of a malfunction. I have no doubt that when our astronauts start landing on the moon again, those suits will be fully custom fit to the person wearing them, just as they were during the Apollo landings. Frankly, I think they should use an updated version of the Apollo suits. Those suits were sharp looking and served the astronauts extremely well.
