‪@PrimaryArmsOptics‬ recently released this optic but there is relatively little information (and to my knowledge, no unboxing or review videos) about it to date. I ultimately succumbed to curiosity and purchased one for myself to see what it was all about, so I thought I’d share a few of my observations for anybody else who may be interested in it.

I saw this in the 2021 Primary Arms new product catalog and have been waiting literally 2 years for it to drop! Saw it on the website and immediately ordered! I have it on my POF P415 Edge 16.5" 5.56 and was able to take it out to 800 yards with 75gr Hornady Superformance! Absolutely in love with the reticle and Japanese glass! Everything I could ask for in a 1-10x Very curious why Primary Arms has literally not done any promotion whatsoever on such an amazing optic...all they seem to push is the PLx-c 1-8...very peculiar...but I have mine and I love it, excellent review!

Because it's a one and done. When they are gone they are gone. Snipershide has a thread on it. Search glx 1-10. Primary Arms is on the thread saying that it was a Covid casualty. They going to bring a newer Glx to market I'm going to assume.

Great review! This is my first scope purchase. I got the BDC Raptor M10 instead of the MIL reticle. I'm new and I wanted something easier to use. I got this for my Ruger SFAR and I wanted something with a decent zoom on it that was FFP. I love the larger and smaller rings or horseshoe's that are visible. Even though it's not daylight bright, it is daylight red and the larger ring helps with visibility in bright conditions. I'm in southern Nevada. Yeah, it gets bright... I would like to add that even though there are no detents between the brightness settings, you CAN tun off the illumination between the settings which is nice. I do wish the review covered glass quality (edge distortion, fish eye, eye relief, etc) but I personally think it's all good. Again, I'm new to all this and this is my first scope purchase so assume I don't know anything:) Eye relief is about 4 inches and that's about right. You do have a bit of room to go back and forth but not a lot as far as I'm concerned, maybe an inch or two. There is minimal edge distortion at 1x and I believe acceptably minimal at 10x. I was hoping to see about this in the review to see if I was right. Colors don't appear to be different looking through the scope as far as I can tell. Where I think this scope accels is price. This scope is a HUGE value! It goes for $799.00. You will pay AT LEAST DOUBLE for a scope with similar features and I believe quality. This is a first focal plain scope.

Thanks for watching and for your thoughts on the optic! Good point about the functional “off” positions between the detents. Combined with the AutoLive feature, I would now feel comfortable with storing it in one of those “in-between” positions if needed. Now that I’ve had a chance to actually get it out to the range myself, I agree with everything that you said about edge distortion, fish eye, and eye relief and would call the GLx “perfectly acceptable.” It does not necessarily meet/beat the more premium offerings such as the Vortex Razor or EOTECH Vudu, but those optics are considerably more expensive than this scope. I am happy with the purchase and would still recommend for anybody considering it to check it out for themselves!

Despite so few reviews of this scope, I decided to buy it anyway. Came in on Sunday and I used it yesterday. Everything about this scope is amazing except the eye box at 10 power. That box is tiny. You have to be in perfect alignment to see everything properly. Might try using 8x for shooting and 10x more for spotting hits. Still very happy with the scope.

I want the mil part. The Raptor version is in yards but doesn’t have mil. It’s only a BDC. With wind holds. The issue is zeroing the rifle to 100 meters. All ranges are in yards.

Thanks for watching! I finally had a chance to bring it out to my local 500 yard range just yesterday, but I had already previously returned the Amazon contraption because I could not get it to work/capture clear images reliably so I don’t have any photographic/videographic evidence of my trip. If you don’t mind taking my word for it, though: Unfortunately, the optic itself is indeed somewhat inherently blurry at 10×. In fact, I was occasionally having a hard time IDing (let alone engaging) smaller targets at 400-500 yards despite ensuring my diopter, etc. was adjusted appropriately. It cleans up quite nicely when backing up to 8× though, and it’s pristine (to my eyes at least) at 6×. As such, I’ve come to the preliminary conclusion that it should really be thought of as an excellent 1-6× scope with capabilities up to 10× if needed.

Yes, admittedly, the "Amazon contraption" muddies up the clarity of the glass but it looks much better in person. I DIY'd the DOPE cards that fit in the rear lens cover. This optic typically retails for $799.99 but tends to go on sale (or have a Bonus Bucks offer) fairly frequently: www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-glx-1-10x24-ffp-rifle-scope-acss-griffin-mil-m10-reticle

To my eye, the 1× image appears flat with minimal fish eye or edge distortion, at least compared to the GLx 1-6× that I mentioned (and have since returned as a result). I wouldn’t say that it is as flat and true of an image compared to, say, a Vortex Razor or EOTECH Vudu at 1×, but for this optic’s price point it is perfectly satisfactory to me for a GPR build that you don’t necessarily intend/plan to “run and gun” with.

@@SantaRosaSlinger is the 1x really good enough for you to run as a true 1x and not want an offset red dot? Personally, I don’t do a whole of in between zooming, and being bespectacled as well, my eyes need all the help they can get at even 100 yards; so, I love the concept of this FFP with a speed ring like the Vudu if it’s still competent as a 1x. If not, I might as well go 3/4x at the bottom and throw a dot on.
@SantaRosaSlinger
@SantaRosaSlinger 2 ай бұрын
@@illestdomer2005 I personally think that the 1x and the reticle design with the “speed ring” is more than sufficient for close-range engagements, but I admittedly have been avoiding using a top or offset dot because I personally prefer the idea of keeping a single sighting system/optic (not including backup irons). That said, this LPVO is relatively heavy so you may want to keep that in mind when considering your build. The rifle I have this on is not a “run and gun” build and is really more for moderate to longer-range use but with the ability to make quick engagements “if needed.” My buddy has a GLx 2.5x-10 with a top dot that he uses for a similar build and enjoys it a lot and it is admittedly lighter/handier, so it all depends on your preference and philosophy of use.
@ToxicGamer86454
@ToxicGamer86454 6 ай бұрын
At 1-10 I’m not sure how it can be considered an LPVO anymore. It’s also massive compared to the 1-6. Maybe an AR style .308 DMR? At that point just get a proper scope.
@darlsbarkley3493
@darlsbarkley3493 6 ай бұрын
Anything that starts at 1x is an lpvo. It's really not that big. There are 1-6 optics the same size and an extra inch of length doesn't make any difference unless you have a clip on thermal or night vision optic in front of it.

Well crap!!! I just noticed this scope is in Meters not Yards. Which isn’t terrible in itself, however, no ranges near me have Meters. So sighting in is too difficult. Think I’ll return it for the 2.5-10. It’s in yards.
@SantaRosaSlinger
@SantaRosaSlinger 3 ай бұрын
Oh no! Which reticle did you end up getting? I believe they make a version that has bullet drop compensation markings calibrated in yards, if you would prefer to use that before switching to the 2.5-10. Personally, I like the MRAD (also known as MIL or milliradian) reticles because they work no matter which units you prefer; you can calculate the equivalent yards, meters, feet, etc. for each milliradian hashmark using any ballistic calculator. In my case, my shooting buddies all use milliradians as well so it helps to “speak the same language” when at the range together.

glass clarity this GLX 1-10 OR PLX 1-8 ?? which looks better ?
@SantaRosaSlinger
@SantaRosaSlinger 8 ай бұрын
I haven’t had the fortune of getting behind a PLxC 1-8× myself yet, but some of my buddies have and also checked out this GLx 1-8× when we were at the range together. Their opinion was that PLxC is unquestionably the better optic in terms of optical clarity, size/weight, and features. However, it is also almost twice the price so they said that the GLx was “not bad considering the price.” They also said that both optics suffer from the same issue where their maximum magnification is really not all that great, so one should really consider the PLxC and this GLx to “functionally” be 1-6× and 1-8× optics, respectively, with the capability to get in a little closer if needed.
