@@Nicoletta13 i know I understand and I agree with you but we have to remember michael said in his own words that he forgave his father, I've seen lots of photos of michael and his father together both smile and looking happy and michael also used to host a Joseph Jackson day for his father at Neverland in the late 80s-90. Also Michael's other brothers got treated the same way by their father, most black parents back in the Old days would hit their children out of discipline.

@@kareemeverison oh I know Michael wasnt the only one in the family that was abused. But it affected him the most intensely. That's what he faced since he was little. Think about what that does to a small child's psyche and yo only be looked at by your own father as a machine not a little boy . Yes I know Michael forgave him eventually did nice things for Joseph but that's Also what abuse victims do. They forgive they down play abuse they try to rationalize itwith excuses Michael said" he abused us "but ...... "Yeah he terrified us "but... "Look what came from it. We went on to become do successful." Had he not done this who knows.wjere we would be " that's the only way he knew to raise his children. " The excuses go on and on.. In reality ... He was cruel he was abusive . Think about he scars that never healed BECAUSE of Joseph. He called Michael "ugly" He humiliated him taunting him about his nose. Guess what ...that led Michael to go down a spiral of plastic surgery. Michael was a life long insomniac ... Imagine the nightmares Michael had of his father . And I'm sorry you cannot dismiss this by saying "well that's how black parents punished their kids back on the day" no. Joseph ( nor any abusive parent ) gets a pass.

No disrespect to anyone in this particular comment section, but who within these comments has children? I have 4 who’re now Men, my youngest has been married for 5yrs with a 3yr old beautiful Daughter & my eldest was recently married on October 4th, 2021, with no children yet. The reason I asked my question is, because I was born in 1961 & during my upbringing ass whippings were a regular practice within A LOT of families, especially Blacks & with BOYS!!! Mr. Joseph Jackson had ELEVEN (11) children, 10 with Ms. Katherine, (which one named Brandon died a few hours after birth & one outside of his marriage named Joh’Vonnie) & he STAYED with his family during a time when a lot of Fathers in Black communities DID NOT!!! And with the exception of Brandon & MJ , ALL OF THEM ARE STILL ALIVE & SUCCESSFUL!!!! Now, with that being said, as a Father of 4 Men, I know first hand how difficult it is raising children & although Mr. Jackson was a tough Father & at times ABUSIVE, there’s NO DOUBT HE & Mrs. Jackson LOVED ALL THEIR CHILDREN & DID A FANTASTIC JOB!!!

I think JJs answers here are strange too. I am not a native English speaker but to me one doesn't feel that one misses their son because one put a lot into him! What!? When a child dies before a parent, the grief about the child must be horrible, almost killing the parent/s. It has nothing to do with how popular or famous the child was. I don't like the man. I can understand what Michael said. His father does not appear to be a loving person at all.

Not James Brown as father figure, I don't believe that. Michael was around big grown ups doing dirty stuff backstage (Brown) being one who took drugs and misbehaved. What Michael was focused on was how they sang and danced and that people liked it. He memorised his fancy feet and went home to practise. Yes these old men like Brown, Astaire, Sammy Davis, Little Richard, were at his disposal and he even visited their homes. But Michael shunned their adult activities. Joe was business minded but didn't ensure Michael didn't "see and hear." So he grew up but remained in control. Many hours he was always stuck backstage waiting and watching them carry on. He saw too much too early and it damaged his emotions. Meanwhile, Joe didn't see a problem. James Brown smoked stuff = and Michael knew that was wrong. I'm not saying Brown didn't show him love and care. They were close.

For anyone who thinks MJ is guilty please read this. The first accuser, Jordan Chandler was forced by his father Evan Chandler. Everyone wonders why MJ paid them. He had no choice. Back then the laws were different and they were allowed to push a civil case before a criminal one. MJ and his lawyers pushed very hard to have the criminal case first because the Chandlers had zero corroborating evidence. Mj would have easily won the case but the judge allowed the Chandlers to push a civil case beforehand. This means MJs legal team would have to show their entire defense and come up with a new one for the criminal case. It also would have been drawn out over a 5 to 10 year period which wouldnt allow MJ to tour and make more money. So when they calculated all the legal fees and lost revenue from tours it would take over a 5 to 10 year period they came to the conclusion that it would cost much more than 25 million dollars so they settled outside of court. Once Evan Chandler got the money he refused to pursue a criminal case because they had absolutely zero evidence to corroborate their story. Jordan Chandler admitted when MJ died that his parents forced him to do it. His father Evan Chandler committed suicide 3 months after MJ died. Some say he did it out of guilt. He also tried to kill his own son for the settlement money. Jordan Chandler emancipated from his parents as 16 and never spoke to them again for what they made him do to MJ. The second accuser was Gavin Arvizo and his family was a well known family of scammers. They tried to scam Jay Leno, George Lopez, Chris Tucker. They scammed JC Penny out of 150k by lying and saying the security guards sexually molested her. This was later proven to be a lie. They also fully admitted that MJ never ever touched Gavin and helped him heal from Cancer. Once a civil rights lawyer approached them and coached them into saying MJ sexually molested Gavin as they would be able to get millions of dollars. They changed their story and once they went to court their entire story fell apart under cross examination. MJ was found absolutely innocent of 14 counts. He was so fucking innocent they couldn't even convict him of a single count from the 14. MJ was also investigated by the FBI for 13 years and they found absolutely nothing. Most people who are being watched for that long eventually are found guilty of something even if it was small and nothing to do with sexual abuse. People don't understand how innocent MJ truly was. These 2 new accusers are both after money. Their stories are so poor and lack any credibility that they both lost their cases and are getting no trial or money.

And are we righteos in our judgement: Joe has worked like a horse in the the steal mill in Gary. He cleaned the hot blast furnaces. All In the nights. He had 11 mouths to feed. During the day he was a pile driver. And please not forget. Father Joe was daily in the court next or behind michael in the arvizo case like to protect his son. I felt for Michael is he had to grow up to fast , he did not have a childhood like most children do, then the law suites came , he had to come out of retirement, and then he die . Now , he will never know how his children grew up , or see his grandchildren. That's so sad about Michael life . The only enjoyment he had in life was his talent, his fans , his mother, sisters, brothers, and his children. I can understand how Michael feels about his dad but Michael never said, a bad word against his father , because that's private between Michael and his father . Michael RIP . I have always love you and your beautiful talent that God gave you . Till I see you in heaven one day singing like you did for all of us down here on earth . Towards the end of Mike’s life he kept a lot of people around him the didn’t love or care about him, they wanted what he had. Mike should’ve kept his family close to him. Joe’s was right Mike was spending too much. He was a billionaire and ended up broke. Joe never stole anything from his kids. The lawyers have control of his estate and the sold the that Michael died to keep and it was his most valuable asset. They also sold Neverland smh. @Josephine Barrett I’m not sure but I know his family would’ve protected him from the vultures that killed him for money. At the end of the day his family loved him including his father and I’m in no way excusing the wrong parenting Joe did but parents are not perfect. I’m sure his Mom wasn’t perfect Mike always said his father was strict in disciplining and his father admitted it too but MJ always thanked his father publicly. Maybe if MJ hadn’t been around so many people that didn’t want his Dad around he could’ve mended his relationship with his father. Once MJ became a father I’m sure he didn’t see things the same. I’m sure he realized how difficult parenthood is. I believe MJ was a good parent and a strong disciplinarian when it came to his own children but he knew the proper way to discipline his children because of what he went through.

Not once did he say anything bad about Michael. Give him flak about spanking or beating him, but you can’t tell me that he didn’t love him. I do believe he tried to live too vicariously through his children’s lives -specifically Michael. That exacerbates the stigma we all have about Joe Jackson, but I think he truly loved them. I want to add that Joe Jackson reminds me of HOF running back Barry Sanders’ father. Barry Sanders Sr. openly stated his son wasnt in his top two RBs. And that his proudest moment of his children wasn’t fame but having kids and being great parents. It shows how they showed love with times the grew up in.
