He's exactly how you imagine him to be in the books. They had no business whatsoever casting Tom Cruise in the movies. Nothing about his performance even remotely hinted at what most of us picture Jack Reacher to be. 🙄

@@grahammonk8013 The problem I had with Tom Cruise was, I could not see Reacher in him. It was always Tom Cruise. I love the guy though, In a lot of roles, but him playing Reacher was weird. I think he is just to popular as the actor, to let this role pass through to the audience. Alan Ritchson brings everything toi the table to make the show work.

Like Reacher says, in an investigation, details matter. CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2!

Try the books. They are great

Hopefully they don't feel compelled to produce every book. Some of them are pretty weak. And they should skip the part of the series where he owns a house and almost settles down, or re-write that to better deal with the continuity. Feels like Lee Child wanted to show off his knowledge of NYC area, more than make a good story. And like the flashbacks to mom and childhood, they should have some of the shorts that came after the series sprinkled in to keep up pacing. And definitely skip the one with the nuclear bombs. I remember figuring that one out in the first few references to davy crockett, so for Reacher not getting it made him excessively selectively dumb, to keep the book going. Most of the others you know who's good and who's bad, and Reacher knows, but needs to solve how to "win", and how to dismantle the entire organization, rather than an assassination of the one "bad person". And twists like the son being the ringleader, when he looked more like a stooge most of the time. Rather than a military guy having never heard of one of the most famous weapons in the history of the world. The davy crockett. The only man-launched nuke ever made. Though I guess one could argue he would know it as the M28 or M29, but certainly would have heard of the davy crockett name it was given. Hopefully someone is sketching out the entire book series as how it could relate to shows, and not just doing a 1:1 season to book until out of books. No reason they couldn't do most of the books, then go into off-book productions. But it will never last until then if they don't come up with a plan.

Season 2 comes out this Dec.

That's quite a glowing report. Reckon I need to read at least one of the books. This Aussie liked TC, but AR had some more time on screen to add depth to the story. First movie was great, second movie was more of the same but the series was binge material.

@infeedel7706 there are no bad ones. You could argue that they are formulaic: drifter rolls (or walks) into town, befriends a local, gets embroiled in conflict, obliterates the opposition, moves on to the next - and while that's true, it's not the half of it. You can read them in any order, but once you start...well, they're hard to put down.

Google Lee Child's interviews discussing the new series. He's an executive producer on the show and saw AR audition for Reacher. He said he wanted Alan for the role immediately because quote: "He nailed it".

Great examples you've chosen, I loved all of them and have fond memories of growing up watching those shows. What people seem to forget is that those shows were making fun of stereotypes, relentlessly - they wouldn't be appreciated or garner the great praise they've earned over the years if they were to debut in this day and age. Seems a shame, doesn't it?

TC was not the person anyone thought of as Reacher. I will admit TC has the acting ability to somehow make it slightly believable. Mission Impossible is a much better fit for TC.

I almost put it off but my girl really likes this type of show so she talked me into it when it came out, no regrets. On the bright side you won't have to wait as long as us! Coming this fall supposedly, last time I checked.
