Not going to lie, seeing this broke me. No matter what Daemon did to his brother, he hated seeing him like this and wanted to make sure he was okay

what exactly did Daemon do to his brother? Only once he called Viserys weak and even that wasn't really an insult. He didn't fuck Raenyra, the "heir for a day" thing was left ambiguous on purpose. It's actually Viserys who wrongs Daemon many times. in fact Daemon kills, lies to or insults literally everybody BUT Viserys What I'm trying to say is that this moment is way more dramatic than it seems but people don't even see how much Daemon really loves his brother no matter what but struggles to show it.

@@TheHellyeahmen Daemon was a problem because he was everything his brother wasn't. Strong, ambitious, a capable leader that inspired loyalty. At one point he was even a king in his own right. He also never was under the King's control. Daemon did what he wanted, when he wanted. Viserys always saw him as a possible threat to the thrown and Otto in particular made him paranoid.

I actually cried... all Daemon ever wanted was for his brother to acknowledge him. He wanted to protect him and be by his side. It did not matter to him if he was the heir or not. He loved his brother.

Yeah, I agree. I’m a tough guy, but that scene had me ballin’ as well. Daemon can be the slimiest of backstabbing snakes, but he definitely loved his brother and would have done anything to help or back him, and like you said, he just wanted his acknowledgment and wanted Visary’s to take him seriously. It was just well filmed, kudos to Patty for an outstanding performance. This show just continues to get better with each episode.

"Otto Hightower is a more Honorable than you could ever be." "He doesn't protect you, I would!" They had become estranged, but Daemon helped his brother Viserys up those stairs and crowned him. I cried. I think people forget that Daemon was Viserys’ first and biggest supporter. This was kind of glossed over in the show, but made this crown scene even more powerful and emotional for Daemon

Yes, a big part of the reason that council at Harrenhal got called was because Daemon was all too willing to fight to ensure his brother would be king.

Don't we see the resemble here, Aemond is Daemon in the way that he fight for his brother positions in the iron throne, and of course master swordsman same as Daemon. Then Aegon is Viserys, first born son, and of course less wild and crazy then their younger brothers. Then we have Rhaenyra which is the same as Princess Rhaenys, woman to woman who is heir to iron throne, and "queen who never was" is supposed to be the heir to the iron throne by her birth right. Ayoo, we all can see the parallel here🥺🤧🥺🤌

My favorite part of this, is Daemon doesn't really even physically help Viserys. He lightly puts his hand on his back and says "Come on". He knows his brother needs to be able to ascend his throne by himself, and he also knows his brother has the strength in him to do it. Daemon has a lot of flaws, but I do think he honestly was the Hand Viserys needed. He would have given his brother strength and ferocity (two things he desperately needed) while Viserys's patience and foresight could temper Daemon. They balance the flaws in each other.

I don't think Viserys ever questioned Daemon capability or loyalty, at least from the tv series. He just don't like Daemon nature which is opposite to him: Daemon brashness/independence as you said vs Viserys easy-going/peaceful manners. That's why he didn't choose Daemon as a Hand or future king, Daemon probably kills half of the court when he holds power in his hand lol. It's not about right or wrong between those two, they're just different as ice and fire (punt intended). Just look on the other side, if Daemon is the older brother and Viserys is the younger, do you think Daemon will have Viserys as his Hand? Most likely not.

Daemon would serve loyally but he sure the hell wouldnt have served well. You think Daemon is a gonna be a reasonable advisor you could trust to run the realm with your back turned? Yes it wouldve been better for the realm but thats only in hindsight. In the peaceful nation Viserys inherited, Daemon would be a terrible Hand or king.

@@khoitranhuy3544 good analysis but I think that it's not enough to make the assumption that Daemon could not become s better person or hand. Daemon did love his brother and yes he was brash and impulsive. However as a younger brother I do not believe he was ever given the opportunity to rise to the occasion and show what he could become. Remember that the king also had Otto whispering in his ear undermining Daemon at every turn. This is what really influenced the king and his decisions toward his younger brother. The king did know Daemon was eager to prove himself but the negative influence from others made him believe it was ambition instead. Daemon also knew his brother loved him but also knew he was being influenced and taken advantage of by others in his circle. The brotherly love was there, family ties were there, but so was the wedge and poisonous lies from Otto.

Thing is, Viserys always had Daemon's respect. He might not have showed it in a traditional manner, but he always respected his brother and would not let others demean him - for example, his "I will speak of my brother as I wish; you may not do the same" line to Corlys.

Viserys is at his most powerful moment here, despite everything, his walk up to the thrones for the last time and Daemon helping him up. I think this scene is his most powerful and kingly moment. I almost cried honestly cause its just that heartwarming to see, we love you Viserys, R.I.P.🙏 🙏 ❤

No one fights like siblings especially brothers, but no one will fight harder for you. Daemon was always troublesome, he gave his brother nothing grief. Yet Viserys always loved him and stood by him, even when it was difficult. Daemon hated seeing his brother like this. When he struggled up those stairs, he came over and whispered “Come on”. He was telling him “Now it’s my turn to stand by you”. This was such a genuinely heartwarming moment.

Throughout the show, we see that while Daemon may love his brother, he doesn't respect him and considers him a weak King. I think this is the moment where Viserys finally earns Daemon's respect. Daemon putting the crown on his head is him saying, "Yes, you deserve to be King. You deserve it more than I do."

This was the moment that Viserys and Daemon saw each other for who they were. Viserys sees that Daemon was a loyal brother who was there for him, and Daemon sees that Viserys is stronger King than Daemon imagined. As someone who has had conflict with their younger brother, this scene imparts the most important lesson of all. When your brother needs your help, you answer the call, no matter your past differences.

No lie, this scene made me tear up. Daemon helping his brother up the steps then crowning him. It was just a brief and sweet moment between brothers where we can see Daemon's concern and love for Viserys. All in all, it was just chef's kiss. Paddy Considine deserves an Emmy for his performance.

The whole throne room scene was utterly amazing. The King is literally walking dead to his throne to solve a problem of his kingdom that was settled long ago, and here, despite all brotherly troubles, is his brother putting the crown right back on his head.

Paddy's crown fell in one of the takes, then Matt Smith as Daemon picked it up for him, and the directors loved the idea so much they reshot the scene to include this moment properly. So yeah, as far as I know it was kind of improvised.

I love how gently Daemon crowned his brother after ushering him up the steps to the Iron Throne. Viserys looked at him with a strange awe after the fact. He may have had his flaws, flirted incessantly with danger and pushed his luck, but Daemon loved his brother, loved their house, wanted to protect the name Targaryen above all things. He just wasn't given the chance. Viserys, I think, is beginning to understand that Daemon never wanted to be a threat to all that they knew. Instead, he wanted to be relied on. Daemon expressed his frustration in so many ways, and Viserys was unable to see under all that. I am glad that he now knows that there is more to Daemon, that he should have trusted in him and utilized his loyalty more.

My grandparents are getting older. I haven't seen this show but watching this is making me tear up. He reminds me so much of my grandfather who is one of the hardest working men I've ever met in my life. Small in stature but a giant in character. How I wish I was half the man he is. To this day he still finds ways to keep busy. His garden is a piece of art. Always working, always building. But I'm watching him slow down and I'm terrified that this could be his future. When the time comes though I would like to think that I too will be there to stand and walk with him.

This scene really got me. In this mental fucked up yet brilliantly written story and characters of Westeros, this got me just as emotional as the Red Wedding & Ned Stark’s death. Daemon is many things however down to his very core, his bones, he loves his brother. He was the only one to help him when all the other fuckers around him who claimed to love and cared for him ((Otto, Alicent and his other so called children)) just stood by while Viserys was struggling but determined to get to his throne. Thanks for uploading.

You can see the hesitation in Daemon's hand when picking up the crown. his longing to be recognized and appreciated by his brother for years made him hesitant. But with those glances from Viserys, Daemon realized that all along those years, Viserys always appreciated and loved his little brother.

a scene where the characters don't say anything manages to have more emotion than any power rings scene, the difference in direction, script, characters and interpretation is immense between the two series.

Agreed. To think this scene was created by accident (the crown wasn’t suppose to fall off, but they kept filming and kept it). The shows director Geeta Patel stated that this scene replaced a speech Daemon would have given during the supper because it was more powerful.

The entire throne room scene was perfect. The actors for Daemon & Viserys really shined throughout. I was impressed with the dinner scene after Viserys left the room. With a simple wave of one finger his step-sons (nephews) chilled out and then turning on Aemond, not a word was said, just the intention of his body posture made Aemond respect(?) and back down from his uncle. He really controlled the room in that moment and didn't say a word.

And to think that this wasn't even in the script...what a wonderful, happy, and meaningful mistake that was. Great performance from both actors to continue filming and using that accidental falling of the crown to create something deeply touching and worth remembering.

I don't know much about the Books but seeing the movie, King Viserys' might have loved Alicent and her kids in some ways but his love for Aemma, Rhaenyra and Daemon hits different.

Daemon is a lot of things, but I appreciate how he is shown to really genuinely care for his brother here. It's just such a seemingly almost odd tender moment.

Daemon is not the easiest guy to get along with, he can be impulsive and for some people, it seemed borderline treasonous but he's always had his brother's back and was loyal to him to the end!

I love how we see daemond go from rebelling to im done trying to explain myself then to finally getting to be by his brothers side. The show did great with leaving daemonds goals up for interpertation. Viserys always saw him competing for the crown, that whole scene is how it should of been day 1. It mirrors relationships to a tee. Youd think a brother or close friend would know you and how you feel, BUT time apart, people whispering in your ear, and circumstance will have you second guessing. A1 PERFORMANCE BY VISAREYS ACTOR. George You are a BEAST!!!!

This whole scene was brilliant. Loved this bit. The whole episode was awesome. Paddy will be missed. Can't wait for next week. So glad to hear there will be 4 seasons.
